"My husband was at Western Slope in Placerville, and they were so wonderful. It wasn't fancy, but they were so kind, and were just nice. His hair wasn't always combed, and they were so busy, but they were just very sweet and kind to him. He fell a couple of times and they called me. The place needed remodeling, but it was clean, and he was happy while he was there. He seemed happy with the food too; he never complained about it. He was on a pureed diet at first because he was having trouble swallowing, and they were very conscientious about that. He had physical therapy while he was there, and they really worked with him. I didn't see any but I know they had activities going on too."

"Gold Country Health Center has the best reputation in this area, but we felt it was too much of a hospital, institutionalized setting. The staff was very nice when we toured. I don't have any complaints about that, but we just didn't feel it was the right place for my mother-in-law. She would have been in a shared room and the showers were public, so she wouldn't have her own bathroom. There were a number of different options there, but for my mom-in-law with advanced Alzheimer's, we had very limited options because she needed 24-hour care. The place was clean, and the staff was nice. "

"There are no great SNFs, but this one is very good. The staff is attentive and caring, the office does a better than average job of keeping you informed. The menus are good and they have an alternative menu for the patients to choose an entree if they don't care for the offering on the regular menu. My step dad has been in 3 different facilities owned by Plum Health and this is definitely the best. If he needs needs future care it will also be the first choice, if they have room. "

"The Auburn Ravine Terrace is smaller than some facilities and that is what helps make it so good. It is easy for residents and family members to get to know staff. There are three levels of care available within the assisted living and there are three overall levels of care: independent apartments, assisted living and a skilled nursing facility all within the same complex. My dad spent time in all three levels of care. I was constantly impressed with how the staff went above and beyond to make him comfortable and as independent as possible. The activities are over the top including outings for those that are able. Recently they have been remodeling and it is looking beautiful. The reputation in this area is that it is the best facility, but it looked a little utilitarian..not any more, it is looking quite lovely. My mother has been a resident of the snf for five years. I cannot tell you how many times I have arrived to visit to find a staff member sitting with her just visiting, doing her nails or even singing to her! They have become like family!! There is a very low turn over of staff which is also a good thing. "

"My mother resides in this nursing home for the past 3 years. I also, was there for 9 weeks recovering from a infection I developed from Diabetes. I was very surprised and pleased how this facility is run. It was hard to put my mother in one...very hard having to leave your home behind to live in a nursing home. She suffers from Dementia, and I no longer can care for her. I was so happy to see the cheerful mood of the aids and RN's that care for the residents. the menu's are tailored to the individual and the food is really great! P/T and rehab are available to all and its nice because there are only 100 residents. Even I enjoyed my stay there, I had to learn to walk again after my surgery. The Physical Therapists were awesome. The activities is run by a great gal Gloria who makes sure all who participate get joy every day from making crafts to drawing, music, birthdays and visits from people and school children weekly. I was so impressed, I even wrote an article that appeared in our local paper in Folsom regarding this nursing home. It is always clean and staff will go out of their way to make sure the resident and family are happy. Mom has had to make a big adjustment, but it seems her health has improved and she is content. Thats all that matters to me. "

"My husband is in Care Meridian. It is recommended to me by the trauma ICU where my husband was. The staff is very fine. The room is the best. They are spacious, absolutely immaculate, and brand new. There is a full range of activities. I certainly will recommend them to others. "

"I had a visit at Kindred. The lady who took me through the place did a really great job. We were trying to figure out whether Mom would fit in or not. The place looked very clean, and the staff also looked like they were very busy. I saw some residents doing a Bible study and other activities. "

"I am very please with this nursing home. With my parents, I have been in several and this is the best one I have seen. The environment is clean and they take great care of my mother. Staff are responsive and very friendly. The is food also appears to be very appetizing considering how restricted my mother's diet is. I wouldn't consider putting her any other place. "

"Westview Healthcare Center was very good, and the one who should be commended the most for going above and beyond was the nurse named Robin. I have never seen a nurse work so hard and so dedicated. She was the one who got everything done for us. "

"My daughter-in-law had brain surgery and she did go to Sutter Rehabilitation Institute in Roseville because that's the one her insurance would allow her to go into. Its location was close to home. The staff were skilled, good, and friendly. I was extremely disappointed with the food because the patient was overweight and they were feeding her potato chips and chocolate puddings at her request anytime during the day that she wanted it. "

"My mom is in Eskaton Care nursing home right now for her rehab. I think they're excellent. They're very helpful, very caring, and easy to communicate with. The location is also beautiful and everything is very nice. My mom is very happy. The rehab is good. They're working with my mom: taking care of her needs and teaching her. They started immediately and they work with her every day. It's in a very nice area and has easy access to the highway. For activities, there's not much going on, but she exercises and participates in other activities."

"My father was in the hospital, and they recommended Roseville Point. Some staff members are good, and some are not good. The food started off good, then went downhill, but the presentation is not bad. It's pretty expensive, but it's a better place than others I've seen out there."

"My 94 year old friend came here after an ICU visit. His trauma exasperated what seems like early stage dementia/alzheimer's into a more pronounced case. The staff here have been very kind and polite to him in the face of not nice behavior. His room is well kept as are the therapy room and dining room. My only gripe is my interaction with the administrative side of things. I am relatively young and have not dealt with Medicare, numerous doctors, nor inpatient care and as a trustee being thrown into the situation there has not been much guidance from the staff. I know I don't even know what questions to ask, but I seem to get a bit of run around between admissions, social work, billing and medical staff. After two weeks, I feel I am getting a grasp of what is needed but I am not in front of the issue, just reacting. It just seems like our issues must be common, but there isn't a definitive plan in place, too much knee-jerk type behavior. "

"Taking care of my parent and my in-laws for the last 14 years, I have had the opportunity to utilize several skilled nursing facilities for rehab after a variety of surgeries, including broken hips, heart attacks and related surgeries, knee replacements and other ailments. Most recently my mom needed rehabilitation services after a cardiac incident. She is 92 and suffers from the early stages of dementia. I toured several SNF in the Roseville/Sacramento before selecting Pine Creek Care Center from the list the hospital gave me. I was very grateful when Pine Creek accepted my mom, because I was horrified at some of the places I saw. During my mom's 2-week stay, she was well taken care of. She said the food was "fantastic". The staff were very caring and attentive, even though they were often short-staffed. Their response time to requests for care or to get to the bathroom was great. The place was always clean. The staff always polite and helpful. Her nurse, Liz was amazing. She was patient, responsive, and always helpful when I needed information about my mom's vitals, condition, medication or whatever. The rehab services were vital to my mom's recovery. I often came to visit mom unannounced and she was always up, dressed and sitting in her wheelchair. Her bed was clean and made up most days. The shared bathroom was always clean. Sure we experienced a few bumps in the road while mom was there, but, trust me, they happen in all care facilities. What is important is how the staff respond to the bumps. At Pine Creek I was continually impressed with their responses. Her case manager, Peter, was always available to assist and he even called me at home to follow-up on a couple of issues. Overall, I thought Pine Creek did a great job and I am thankful they were there and a bed available at the time my mom needed a SNF. Thank you everyone at Pine Creek. Your efforts on my mom's behalf are greatly appreciated!"

"My sister was in Kit Carson Nursing & Rehab before she passed. It's an older facility, but she loved it. She's got a lot of good care there, she needed skilled nursing, and they took very good care of her. They had very good activities. The food was pretty good, and they took really good care of the people there. They could have taken a little bit more care in cleaning, but there were a lot of people there. Most of the staff were five. So we enjoyed the staff members, the ones that were not good, I reported them and they lost their job. The food was okay, and she enjoyed most of the food. They had a kitchen and so they cooked it and she liked her sandwiches. And so basically it was good. She loved the activities. All the ladies in there were awesome and the games they had for them."

"I chose ManorCare Health Services-Citrus Heights for Mom because it is a nice, big, and clean facility in a nice location. The staff is exemplary, knowledgeable, and extensive, and they have really good therapists since it's been a full-care occupational therapy and regular physical therapy. It's a very nicely equipped, nicely staffed place. "

"My mother is at Casa Coloma Health Care Center. She was put in there because she had an abscess on her left side. It was for them to heal that wound. I like the facility very much that's why I sent her back there. She was there five years ago when she broke her hip, and they had wonderful rehabilitation. The staff is friendly and nice. They bring her meals on time and care for her. I don't have really anything bad to say about Casa Coloma. Overall, I think they do a good job. I've seen the meals, but I haven't eaten anything. They bring my mother her meals to her bed, and the food looked very nice and well-rounded. They have a special diet for her needs and what she likes. The rooms are all a good size. You don't feel like you don't have enough room and there are two beds, with the pull-across drape for privacy. They have a closet and a dresser for your belongings. They have a nightstand there with drawers, a room for a wheelchair, and another chair. They're a comfortable-sized room. My mother hasn't used it this time, but when she was there five years ago, they have an area where she would go for physical therapy. They have a long thing you can use with steps to work on and other things. It's a nice room where you can do rehab. In the hallway lobby, there's a setup for hot coffee, hot water, hot chocolate, straws, and things, that makes it a little extra nice if you want to go grab something for yourself or for who's in there. The staff is good. Right now, Medicare is paying."

"My friend stayed at Eskaton for 2 ½ months before he died. You go in through the door, you have a receptionist who is very, very nice, and they have a nice surrounding: nice, clean, and virtually odor-free. You have people who are very welcoming and based from what I've seen, everybody who goes there is treated like royalty. It is a little pricey, but if I had a place when I've decided I wanted to die and be taken care of properly, I would go there myself "
