I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My wife is currently in TerraBella Southern Pines memory care. The place seems very well-kept. The staff is also very friendly and willing to assist. So far, I haven't had any complaints about anything. They have activities that they schedule to assist with the patients instead of them being idle. That's important to me since it's a big transition for my wife, having to deal with being moved out of home. She has times when she knows what's going on. In times when she's not being active, they give her something to look forward to or something to do. They encourage her to get involved with other residents too, as much as possible, and that's a plus. I have no complaints about the staff, so far. Each time I go in and have something to ask, they are eager to assist or direct me to whatever information I'm searching for. It's a little bit expensive. I understand that you get what you pay for but I think they should be a little bit more considerate. It's not a facility that provides everything. You pay for the care but you have to buy all the bedding and everything yourself so the only thing they're providing is the care and the management.

Mom moved into TerraBella Southern Pines. The professionalism of the staff, the cleanliness of the buildings and the price for what they offer compared to the other places we visited seemed like the best deal. I saw the dining room, a fireplace by the living room, and the TV room. There's an outdoor patio with bird feeders. They encourage everybody to come to the dining room. I think that they come and make sure that they're up, and that they can go to the dining room. They have things like bingo and some exercises, but I don't think she's taken part of that yet.

I visited this facility

The tour I had at TerraBella Southern Pines was good. I didn't meet any staff, just the girl in the office that took me around. She was fine. She was friendly and OK. The facility was pretty when you walked in. It's a larger facility. We didn't tour the dining area, but I know it was off to the side that you could see it. I didn't care for their apartments as much. They weren't as bright and cheery. They take their residents out fishing, shopping, and doing different things with them, and that's nice. I hate it because they don't have cable for the residents in their rooms to watch TV. They can watch something, but they can't watch anything like Netflix or something like that and TV is important for my sister to watch, but as far as activities, they appeared to be the best one. I met the activity director and she seemed very nice. I give the activity director a five rating. The other girl, a four, probably. I just feel like they were pushing me to make a decision within two days while the other place I went to gave me time to consider. They were like "You have to sign the papers the day after tomorrow or we can't give you this deal." It's like being pressured.

TerraBella Southern Pines was clean and smelled nice. There were no bad odors. The staff was friendly, very pleasant, knowledgeable, and was able to answer our questions. They had screened-in porches, activity rooms, and a beauty salon onsite. It's near shopping.

We like TerraBella Southern Pines. We've already put a deposit down on it. We're just waiting for when my brother can move here. It's very nice, very clean, very light feel, and very modern. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and very active from what I could tell. We selected the room that we wanted for him. They had a nice patio. It was very well painted. It was nice and clean and that's what I liked about it. It didn't have that odor. I saw some of the other residents that were there. They were involved in activities, especially in dementia care. They were doing little things. They were watching TV, and they were playing bingo and stuff like that.

TerraBella Southern Pines was nice. The overall experience was very good. The lady we met with was very professional. She had us in her office, to begin with, and answered all our questions. She took us on a tour. She showed us two different potential places for my parents. She showed us the cafeteria, the main room, and the activity rooms, things like that. She was very thorough in showing us their property. The rooms were adequate for what we were looking for. They're very nice rooms. It would seem that they would fit what my parents would need.

Even in a locked building people were able to come into my mom's room and walk out of the building with her personal belongings. A $500 hurricane lamp was taken, pictures were taken off the walls in her room. She entered with her wedding rings and only God knows who took them. Not happy with this place at all. Management wouldn't tell you the truth if their life depended on it. Mom's only way out was death.

The staff was the most professional. The place itself and the people I met there were definitely on the top of the list of places I would consider. The place is clean and you can choose from several different sizes. You can put in whatever you want to make the rooms a little homier. The dining room was big and nice. There are areas where you can go outside.

My mom is now here. It is very nice and really good to me. The staff members are very nice and very helpful. The rooms are nice, too. I saw a one-bedroom and a studio. The activities are very good. They have exercise class, meet and greet activities, and word games. They also have a small library and a beauty salon.
