"I liked that Heritage Place has activities, a library, two meals a day, and that they clean the resident's rooms. They have a terrace for them to sit on so there's plenty of space outside the apartment. They have plenty of meals to choose from and if they didn't like what was on the menu, they have a steady menu of chicken fingers and burgers that they could have. They give the residents an activity schedule. They have games, movies, and music. The people we met there were very nice."

"My uncle stayed at Carolina House for 3 days and so far it was good. The facilities were nice but the rooms could be nicer. The rooms were a little dingy and dull. It was very clean though. I would recommend this facility but it's a little bit pricey. "

"Seven Lakes Assisted Living is a small place and it's not too crowded. They help my brother-in-law with his medications. They keep the whole place clean and I would recommend it."

"I toured the Autumn Care of Raeford. It was an old facility, but it was clean. They had activities. They stopped what they were doing and gave me a tour right then, and I just walked in. So, they even talked to me about prices and all that stuff. They showed me the shower rooms. They even told me they shower them like three times a week unless we asked them to do it more. If we wanted them to have a shower every day, then that's what they would do. The staff was very friendly. For my aunt's stage, they don't have a single room. They have two people in it, and for two people their rooms were small."

"This is one of the nicer facilities I have experienced. The nurse aides are very nice and hardworking. They truly care about the residents. The facility is always very clean and well stocked with linens, towels, etc. The nurse aides responded promptly to call signals and every measure was taken to make sure residents were as comfortable as possible. Amenities include: a tv in every room, whirlpool spa bath, beauty salon, activity room, and sitting areas. "

"I toured Open Arms Retirement. It's an old building, but it was clean and well-maintained, and the staff was extremely friendly. They were very helpful. They stopped what they were doing and gave me a tour of everything. I did get to see the dining room and stuff like that. They had a place where they could do puzzles. They had a schedule if they were able to do it to keep them active."

"What I liked the best at Hope Spring was the lady that was the manager in charge. She was on top of her game. I was very impressed with her. The staff were attentive and very caring. However, it is an older facility, it's not a new construction. It was there in the 1950s when I was a child. It's well kept and it's clean. However, if you wanted a private room for a female relative, it did not include private bathrooms and showers. They were in the hallway. I was concerned looking for something for my mother. We showed up unannounced and just asked if we could tour the place, and they were very, very gracious."

"My husband moved in. It's good and has a homey atmosphere. The staff members have been caring and concerned. They have bingo. My husband's room is adequate and fits his needs right now. He's had some grumbling about when he asks them to do something, and they can be a little slow about doing it."

"We had an in-person tour of Penick Village. We like its proximity to the town. We like the facility itself, but we can't get a two-bedroom. They provide new appliances. They redecorate every time somebody moves in. The food was good. It's a nice campus with walkways."

"I have visited Home Mills Retirement Center in the past and was very impressed. The staff has very little turnover. As I recall there are ladies that have been working there for 20 years. Very clean and comfortable."

"I spoke with one of the owners of this agency looking for a home health aid for my ailing grandfather. She seemed very caring and reassured me that if I decided to use her agency I would have one of he most caring and professional nursing assistants caring for him. While in her office, I was able to meet the co-owner who though was very busy at the time still took the time to greet me and let me know that if I ever felt a need to contact her than I should feel free to do so. The office staff including the office manager were all very friendly and professional which makes me believe that everyone values their job and are willing to do what it takes to make clients satisfied. This agency offered a variety of services from general home aids to licensed practical nurses and even had around the clock service in the event that I needed to be gone for a few days and did not want to leave my grandfather alone. I didn't even have to inquire about most of the services, the owner just mentioned them all to me. It is clear that she thought of everything someone might need and made sure that she provided services to fit those needs. Although I am still deciding on a service provider for my grandfather, I will assure you that this agency is in my top 2 choices right now. "

"My father has been here for a few months now. At a time when the choices and needs can be overwhelming, I am sure glad we chose Carolina Inn. We were looking for a place that could provide the level of care he needs but also the social environment he wants. He did not want to be confined to a bed in a nursing home which seemed to be the only other choice. They have a graded price/care scale based on needs. I did not find this anywhere else. It was either minimal care or bed ridden nursing home. Nothing in between. I eat there at least once a week and the food has been good. There is cafeteria style and also a bistro with specialty items as well. Even a happy hour with wine,beer,cheeses. His room is clean and his care has been great. He has limited mobility and needs help with most things. Any questions or concerns I have had during this process, they have always been one step ahead of me. We live a few hours away and it is comforting to know is well taken care of. I just feel the need to share my experience as I know this is a difficult decision that most of us will face and this is what worked for us. We were pretty much sold on this facility after our first tour. "

"The Coventry is part of St. Joseph of the Pines Continuing Care Retirement Community. I was told they do not accept potential residents from the community - you have to be part of the buy-in system for independent living with exorbitant up front costs. Good to know. "
