They also went to a Cinco de Mayo event recently."

"Reserve at Mills Farm is a brand-new facility, but a little more homey. It's rustic. The grounds have a pond nearby. It's very close to facilities like grocery stores and Costco. It's only three levels, and they move from independent living to memory care as well. I really liked their memory care concept, which is like cabins. You share a common area in a cabin with five other people, but you have individual rooms, so your staff ratio is very small. They have at least two to one person per patient or resident in the memory care. I really liked the staff ratio. I liked the pod concept instead of individual rooms down a long hallway. You're in a circular cabin, and you just come out into a common area when you want to be out and have your meals and so forth. It has a cozier effect. What I liked about these pods is that they are ranch-style with gardens around them, so they give you a feeling of safety without realizing that you can't wander out of the area. It's almost like a little home. They had a hairdresser onsite. They had a pharmacy onsite, so you could transfer all of your medicines to their pharmacy, and everything could be done in-house. All of the staff members were very caring, nice, and accommodating. They had a big community dining hall and a very nicely furnished ground floor, so you could walk out onto the patio."

"Woodland Terrace was very nice. There was an independent home that was available, but it didn't meet our needs, it wasn't large enough. The lady there was very good, the information she has given and her response to any questions was excellent. Their activity schedule was pretty good. However, we were pretty much looking for luxury accommodations, and they did not have luxury accommodations. It was an older facility and so it didn't meet our needs. It was nice and clean."

"I went to Brookdale MacArthur Park for my mother. Right now, it would be the first on our list because of its proximity to our house. We thought it was very nice. The people there were very nice. It seemed to be very nice. All the residents were very friendly. The scale of the community was very nice. It was not overwhelming. It was just like walking into your living room. It was really nice that way. It seemed like the food was OK. The residents were active, and friendly. They were very nicely invested in the residents. The room was fine for my mother. Everything was small. "

"We put down a deposit and moved my mother's things into Heritage Place. We chose the independent living side. It's nicely appointed. They have a beautiful dining room and patio where the residents can spend time. A lot of the residents sit out in front of the facility in a covered area. They have a nice way to check in; it's computer based. The staff seems friendly, and everybody we came in contact with -- the people who live there and the staff -- were very nice. There were some residents playing the piano and singing patriotic songs because it was Fourth of July weekend when we were there. They have a wine night on Friday evenings that the residents seem to enjoy, and people come and go. They have a parking lot right out front for the residents with cars. For the people who can't drive, they have a van that has a nice schedule. The schedule for events is always posted for the next two days. It's always in the elevator for the residents to see. We didn't eat there, but we've heard good things about the food. Two meals per day are included, or you can pay for a third. It seemed very nice, and it was a good location for my mother."

"I toured The Manor at Edgewater. The bedrooms were in complete disarray. The lady who met us was clearly in poor health and she could barely walk. She was older and said, 'It's just me, 24/7.' The kitchen was beautiful and clean, but the bedrooms were not. There's no housekeeping, and the people there have to take care of their rooms. The rooms were semi-private with shared bedrooms."

"This place is a great place for many reasons for assisted living care. It is an older facility but I'd kept very clean. They take patients for their Dr. Appointment. Also doctor visits on site at certain times. My friend says food is very good and there are between meals snacks. They do their laundry and staff are excellent to work with. The cost is very reasonable for those who can't afford an expensive place. "

"You get what you pay for and, and Absolute Care is a bargain for the price. It’s not the Ritz Carlton, but it doesn’t cost $10,000 a month like the “designer” assisted care homes. Most of the staff is courteous and you can tell that they genuine care about their chstges, The food is nutritious, but it is not on par with a fine restaurant. The beds are comfortable and there is television in every room. I was most impressed that the owner (Carolyn)bud not a hands-off owner. Rather, she takes takes an active role In management and ensures that the staff meets her demanding standards. For the dollar, Absolute Care is a great value."
