I am/was a resident of this facility

The whole inside is nasty and smells. Food is terrible. Very few employees that do a good job with residents. It seems that the good employees don’t stay very long. I am speaking from experience because I was a resident for four years and finally left because of the way residents were treated. It has been six months today since I left. Happier than I have been in a long time. Got me nice apartment with pool, exercise room and restaurant. And no one has yelled at me or called me names. Beware of Keisha (director) and her other incompetent employees Amy, Tonja, Sabrina, Debra and Somone. You won’t get rid of me that easy. Ha Ha

I visited this facility

Red Springs Assisted Living looked a little bit older than the other place, but the price was cheaper. We didn't observe any programs though. The residents seemed out and about; they seemed to be doing alright. They looked happy and everything and the room was nice. You could bring your own furniture in there. However, that's all we had seen. My wife didn't get a good vibe even though the patients looked happy. We didn't think it was the right place for my brother. We didn't even see the lunch area. The lady who gave the tour seemed nice. She told us that she would meet my brother and evaluate him. She was a nice lady, but we didn't get the same impression as we did at the other place. My wife didn't like it when we walked in, so we didn't stay there very long. While the other place was closer to the town and close to where there were things, Red Springs was kind of out and away from everything. There wasn't anything close by.

I visited this facility

I have visited Red Springs Assisted Living. It's older and sparse, but it was nice enough. Their rooms were also older but good enough. The staff who gave the tour was very nice. They didn't have much in the way of amenities, they don't have much outdoor space, and don't have many common areas. It was older but clean. They had a couple of little common areas with TV but I wasn't as interested after getting a look at the rooms and whatnot. They could improve by having more outdoor areas, first of all, because that's important to get people out of the rooms, and they should have more common areas.

I visited this facility

We toured Red Springs Assisted Living. It was well kept. The staff seemed to be very active in taking care of patients. I didn't see anything negative. However, once you tour some of these places and you realize that your parents are not quite ready for that type of assisted living, and they're more capable than having to do that. It was a good education though, and nothing negative about the place. They had good basic living conditions. It wasn't plush, but it was very accommodating. They did not have a gym, but I remember there was a room for exercise. I saw a dining area, but I did not see a courtyard. It was a very quick tour. It was very clean though. It's probably 15 miles from Lumberton where there is a hospital, and there are several fast-food type restaurants within two or three miles.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

This facility is clean, well run, and the staff is very friendly and caring. The primary attraction of the facility is the low price and quality of care for what you pay. It is not for everybody, but it is perfect for residents who are too ill or incapable of living an "active" retirement lifestyle. My husband had advanced Parkinson's and dementia. He needed a great deal of physical assistance because of the Parkinson's. He was almost unintelligible and could not feed himself. He was also incontinent. He did not require a nursing home because all his needs were considered by medicare as "custodial." Red Springs assisted living did an excellent job of caring for his physical needs. He did not want to live any more in his physical state and always refused flu shots and pneumonia vaccination. I had kept him at home until my own health was failing because of the stress and physical requirements of caring for him. He contracted pneumonia and died 3 weeks after I put him in assisted living. He was not neglected at Red Springs. His relatives visited him and called him (with the assistance of staff) several times during his stay there. He was just ready to go.

I visited this facility

I did visit Red Springs. I just went there, talked to the lady, and looked it over, but I didn't spend a lot of time there. The facility looked OK. It looked good that day. It's in a good location right at the edge of town. I had an aunt there about 20 years ago, and I would give it a 1 then. But it's under new management now. They residents seemed to be OK that day. I talked to the director, and she seemed OK too. I did smell an odor when I went in, but that is understandable when you are in assisted living.
