I am/was a resident of this facility

I came to the facility for short term rehabilitation and I am discharging home after completion of my therapy. My experience was very pleasant. And all the staff was very patient and explained tasks as they were being completed. Therapy was very helpful. Nursing care was excellent and they always checked on me; they were very good. The room is very nice and neat and clean. The whole facility is beautiful. I think all the staff needs a raise.

I am/was a resident of this facility

This has been my second trip here at peak charlotte for rehab. I have enjoyed both trips. The first time I came was to recover from a stroke. The rehab got me back to walking and able to care for myself so that I could return home. The second time was due to a bad fall. I am now steady on my feet and have balance to once again return back home. The rehab is wonderful! Their are some great nurses that explained my health in detail so that I could understand it. The nursing aides on 900 hall are a little slow. I was moved to the rehab side when a bed become available the aides were a lot more tentative. The building is clean and smell good. I will return if I need too in the future.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

This place is a joke. My husband was there for rehab due to a knee replacement. Some of the nurses were kind and helpful. BUT there were some that were there just for a paycheck. The food was TERRIBLE, my husband lost weight while he was there plus another person that we spoke with said her husband had also. Mine would have probably lost more, but I brought food in from the outside just so he would have something decent to eat. His rehab was okay, but no schedule as to what he was doing, and also he was suppose to do rehab for approx. an hour but usually for 2 min. Some of the nurses obviously don't know what the term PRN stands for and accused my husband of being a drug addicted for asking him for his medication that was prescribed PRN telling the doctor that he was stalking them. The doctor also called him a drug addict and had only seen him twice. There was suppose to be blood work done on him which was not, and also another doctor was suppose to come in to see him for another matter which was not.. They don't do what they say they are going to do. The nurses don't follow the same schedule and take it upon themselves to administer meds as THEY want to. The plaques they have on the wall for being an outstanding facility must be bought because they surely aren't.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My grandmother was there for rehab for broken hip. They were only doing rehab on her arm. The lady who schedules follow up appts did not make one because she thought she had a fractured neck not hip. She gets no help. They always say they are out of everything. Towels, pads for bed, etc. My grandpa had been there as well. He wasn't breathing good one night and we requested him to be checked. Nurse said his vitals were good. We requested ambulance anyway. When he got to hospital his blood pressure was dangerously high. He had fluid on lungs and ended up having a tiny stroke. Glad we didn't listen to the nurse or he could have laid there and died. These people are stupid and have no right taking care of people.

I am a friend or relative of resident

If you love your loved one, don't have them rehab at Peak! My Mom was in the hospital for four days with a broken bone and I was given a list of places she could go to to receive approximately 2 weeks of care and physical therapy. I researched every place within a 10 mile radius of me and Peak seemed to be well rated. I spoke with the nurse liaison because I wanted to make sure Mom would have help with everything like getting dressed, going to the bathroom, showers, etc..I was told by her and by the Peak staff (once we got there) that she would definitely be cared for round the clock. WRONG!! I was there everyday and I never saw one CNA in her room. She had to do everything herself; she could have done that at home! While she was there, she only received 2 showers, one by a disgruntled employee and one by a man. She's a modest, elderly woman who didn't need a big man coming into her room, saying “take off your clothes”. And I had to stay on them to even get those showers both of which were not comfortable. None of the staff communicated with each other; the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. The meals were terrible. The PA system was loud and ongoing and made you feel like you were in a Costco store, definitely not a restful or peaceful environment for a healing patient. When I complained that you could hear the PA system in the room with the door closed, I was told they were to only use the system for emergencies. However, they were paging people all day on it. There was no daily plan; the PT would come in whenever to take my Mom to therapy. An older person who is injured needs to feel like they have some control but as much as I asked, no one would give us a daily plan/schedule. And NOTHING happens on the weekends so I knew Mom would only last one weekend there; I discharged her after 9 days instead of 14. She was losing weight and was becoming depressed. My Mom hates the hospital but she kept reiterating how nice the people were in the hospital (and they truly were very kind). I knew that if she was speaking highly of the hospital, it was time to break her out of Peak. I can't tell you how disappointing this experience was; I hurt for the people still there and that are being ignored.

I like the rooms at Peak Resources Charlotte. The staff seems really good. She had been in and out there for a while, and she always spoke highly of the place. I did not taste the food, but she said it was good. She was in a private room, and it had a telephone.

I visited this facility

It was a large facility, and the staff was nice, but not very specific for people who have dementia. They had a big yard, and they did outdoor activities. They had a very clean kitchen and dining room. I would recommend someone to go to Peak Resources if they have early dementia or for assisted living, but not the later stage of dementia.

This facility is extremely understaffed. They have 20 patients to 1 CNA and 1 nurse, we have to be there to constantly make sure the needs are being met. Most of the employees have their name badges turned backwards so that was a red flag; some of the PT's are extremely rude and lack any bedside manners with dealing with the elderly. There maybe two or three employees that really care. I am looking for another place.

I toured a lot of nursing homes in the last three days. Some of them were really depressing, dirty, and smelly. But Peake Resources was clean. It's just a new place and so far, it's good. We had two issues, but they've worked with us to get that straightened out and my mom is feeling much better. I would say the staff is good. So far, they've been eager to work with us. We actually had a few problems when we first got her in there, and they did work with us to get those issues solved.

I was not happy with the rating, they scored low in everything, medical care, saftey, staff,! From my experience some of the staff was unfriendly and rude. The nurses were not knowledgeable about their patients or their needs, they ONLY administer medication. If you had any issues or concerns and brought to the attention of the director of nursing,,,they would tell you one thing and the staff something totally different, They could not be trusted..This is not a place I would place a love one. They are very much under staffed. They appeared amiable and very inviting in the very beginning, but after 2 weeks of being a resident I was sorry we even step foot on their property.Out of 10 staff members I would say only one or two really cared about their client. After a month of crying every night for leaving my father up there and making such an awful decision without doing my homework, we transferred to another facility. We were referred by Presbyterian hosp.but we were mislead.
