We were looking for a place for dad and needed to act quickly. His rehab facility recommended Colonial Oaks. When I reached out, I was offered a thorough tour. Everyone we met was very friendly and the facility was modern and clean. Kelli E was very helpful in getting us dad admitted and went the extra mile to make him feel at home after he moved in. It’s these little things that made me very happy with our choice of Colonial Oaks.

I like the Colonial Oaks at Leawood. The facility was very clean and inviting. The staff members were all nice, and they greeted me. I really liked them. I like the amenities and the way that they have things set up for the residents. They have a courtyard, a calendar of activities throughout the course of the week, bingo, and different things scheduled for the week of a month.

I toured Colonial Oaks at Leawood. It's pretty much the same as the other facility I visited, but parking is a lot easier. They are in a residential neighborhood. Their building is set up basically on a square layout, with the community area in the middle. They got gardens, patios, and chairs out in that area. They are in the process of doing renovations. So, the exterior of the building is a little dated right now, but the staff let us know, and you could tell on the inside, that they've remodeled quite a bit of stuff. It's set up in a box so that everything goes around the garden patio. The staff who gave me the tour, was very pleasant and knowledgeable. She was newer to the facility, but she seemed to know the facility pretty well. I think she did a good job.

Colonial Oaks at Leawood is very disappointing. The floors were so heavily stained. They have ignored maintenance for a long time. They're past due to do an update on carpeting and stuff. I was not impressed with the people at all. We sat there for a while and I was able to see some chemistry going on between people and nurses (we were outside the nurses station), and it's not a place that I would recommend for anybody. When we walked in the door, we just felt like this is not a good place. It's built around a courtyard.

I toured and it was a good community and a good facility. The interaction between assisted living and memory care didn't work. They were nice. There were studios to full, and then they did have shared rooms, so there were multiple options. They had a good courtyard. The activity department looks like it was very well equipped. The upkeep was nice. There was some construction going on, but it was nothing more than normal. There was an assisted living and a memory care center. I guess the layout was good, yes, but we wanted a place that has just 100 percent memory care. They did have locked fixed rates and that's one thing financially right now, that's a big thing that we would like to have, fixed rates instead of levels of care.

I am very pleased with this facility for my father-in-law. The staff is diligent and works hard to help the meet the residents' needs. It is clean, spacious, and has a lovely outdoor area. Food is good, and overall a warm, friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend for loved one.

My mother is currently in here. I like that it feels like home. It is all in one floor. It has no elevators, and it offers the services that we are interested in. The staff is very nice. The place is very clean.
