"We met several people at Brookdale West Seattle and they seemed very happy. They were very welcoming, nice, and very helpful. It's an old building and it reminded me of an old hotel, but it was clean. There's a grassy area around the building, but you'd have to go across a busy street to get to the park, which does not suit me at all. The food was pretty good, but the dining area (again it's an old building) has the color that I call kind of institutional, between beige/brown/tan. It was clean, too, but I like something that's a little brighter and whiter."

"This is the one my mom chose after looking at a few others. That is the one she likes. It is great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice. She is in a one-bedroom apartment. Everyone seems to have a great time. They all go on their activities together. I've eaten with her a few times, and the food is good. It's been great."

"Emeritus at Admiral Heights was a beautiful place, and everybody was wonderful. The dining room was great, and there was nothing absolutely wrong that we could see with that place. But it was a very long drive for us, and that was the only thing but we eliminated that. The rooms and apartments were beautiful and spacious. The restaurant looked nice, and everybody seemed very happy there. The lady did mention a lot of things that they have, and it was a retirement assisted living combination. There were many active people there that were going in and out; it was probably more retirement people than anybody else. "

"I found Solstice Senior Living at Renton very pleasant. The tour went very well. It is a very comfortable facility. My only problem with it is it's just in the wrong location, otherwise, I would have very likely selected it. The rooms were of a nice size. They were bright. I liked them very much. We walked past the workout or gym area, the beauty salon, and through the dining room. The staff were very pleasant and very helpful."

"My mother is going to Village Concepts of Fairwood. The thing that we like is that it's a small community. Even though there's a $5,000 nonrefundable joining fee, it's good. It doesn't have a long-term commitment. It's like you pay month to month. After looking at other places in the near area, I thought their rates were pretty good. It's all brand new, so we just really like that, and it's close to our home. We're going to the memory care, and that was nice and small. My mother will share a bathroom and a little sitting room with another person, but she has her own bedroom. I thought it was very nice. The person who took me around was very friendly. It was a nice young girl. Jessica was her name. She was very nice. Everyone was very nice. She answered all our questions. We saw the menu and the activity calendar, and we were pretty impressed with everything that they do. I think it'll be good for my mother. It's very clean and it's very nicely done. The common spaces were very nice. It's very pleasant. My mother can come and go any time, like we can check her out any time. It's really quite nice. There are small patios. There aren't many large areas outside. They don't have swimming pools or anything like that. They don't have an exercise room, but they do run exercise classes. Mostly they have people come in. They don't have an onsite doctor. They have contracts of people that come through. I think that keeps the costs lower, but it's nice. They take patients to their appointments, and they have a little shuttle bus. It's not too far from the Valley Medical Center, which is just a ten-minute drive to the hospital. "

"Cogir of Kent was the one that we would have chosen for my friend. What we liked best about it was the warm welcome, this beautiful room, and the amenities that were in that room, and just the feel of it. It's a studio, but it had really tall ceilings. It was beautifully appointed. It had a washer and dryer in the unit, as well as a full kitchen, oven, and dishwasher. We saw the independent living at this time, but with the availability of more care should she need it. Every unit had its own patio, and she could bring her cat. I'm sold. I'm ready to move there. I've been telling everybody how great this place is. The staff was very friendly and very informative. They had great follow-ups, too. It was like walking into a four-star hotel. They have a gym. We didn't get up there, but there's a rooftop patio. They have van service, no set times for meals, and a beautiful menu. It's a great location."

"The staff was just great at Regency Newcastle. The rooms were small but they were adequate. They had all kinds of things, like swimming, poker night, dancing, and movies. I like the staff. The care was just excellent. "

"Covenant shore is right on the water and a lot of our church people are there. It's a nice place, the staff is excellent but we are not ready yet though. The food is a lot better there than we have here. You have to go outside to go eat and that would be the only negative thing. "

"GenCare Federal Way was well-maintained. It was a little confusing if you didn't know where you were going, but for what they had, they had the same amenities as the other facility we went to. It was nice. I only looked at the studio, but unfortunately, they don't have anything available at this time. The lady took me to the activity center, and I could see what they had that they could do and all that while there. The staff that I met were nice and pleasant."

"Cogir of Queen Anne was newer and brighter than the other place. It was lovely inside. They had almost an atrium for where the dining area was, and it was open, and it was just really pretty to be inside in the atrium part. We had a meal there. It was fantastic. The staff was very, very friendly. He made us feel extremely comfortable there. That's cheaper than the other place, and it was just more welcoming. You had a wide variety of types of people's physical conditions, and it was just airy and a good view. They had two levels of choices. One would be if you'd be in the main building, or you could be across the street and they were like independent apartments. And they had regular kitchens, whereas the others had small kitchens."
