I'm in Boulevard Park Place. I'm happy where I am. They're really good. I've enjoyed it very much. The people are wonderful. The management is terrific. They have a courtesy car that takes me to doctor appointments, hair appointments, and the supermarket. That's been a great help because I don't drive. Meals are not provided because it's independent living. You go in at a certain price and so far they haven't ever raised anybody's rent. So far, it's been wonderful. When somebody moves out, they up the price of that apartment to the current standards. In normal times when there's no COVID, they've had country breakfast, Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas dinner, dominoes, book club, water aerobics class, a gym and gym classes as well, but they have nice equipment that I've used. They had a caroling group at Christmas. They had an Ugly Sweatshirt contest. They have contests for Most Decorated Balcony and Most Decorated Front Door at Christmas. They have beanbag baseball, and I have a bridge group that I organized, and they're letting outsiders come in. We have a two-table bridge group. There's plenty of activities. There are three buildings, but in my building at 4:00 we get together and sit around the table and chitchat with one another. They have big roundtables. Everybody's very friendly. I've got a one-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment with a galley kitchen. It's got a microwave, stove, refrigerator, sink, and cabinet space. I've got one of the larger ones, but they also have one-bedroom apartments that are less expensive. They have lockers, so everyone gets some storage space. If you want to rent out a room, it's $50 extra a month, and that whole room can be storage, but there's a waiting list usually for those. There's covered parking, but it's not secure. It's just covered under the eaves, so to speak, and that's $50 more a month as well. I've got two full bathrooms and washer and dryer. Everyone gets a washer and dryer, and there's air-conditioning. I could have a more modern, upgraded apartment. If something happens, they're right there to fix it. People that come here never want to leave. The staff is very helpful and very nice. We couldn't ask for any more than what the owners have done for us. They're generous, nice people, wonderful to deal with. It's like a big family here. That's the best way to describe it. They have kitchens. In better times, they have country breakfast once a month. They go all out for breakfast. That includes all three buildings, and they haven't had activities that mix all the buildings yet with the COVID situation, but they provided Christmas dinner, and it was boxed and delivered to everybody's room, as was the Thanksgiving dinner because of the COVID. They had it catered, the Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. The food has been wonderful, but we don't get three meals a day or anything like that. It's independent living. They're in the midst of renovating some of the downstairs. They were partially done, but they haven't finished because manpower is just hard to come by. They redid the outside of the building two years ago, but it looks very nice, much nicer than most buildings. It's sturdy and earthquake proof. There's pretty much everything you'd want to participate in. They have a quilting, sewing, and crafts group. I think they do a very good job. My daughter has come over and she said, "I think you've got a really good deal." For what you get, I think it's a very good deal. I just found it on the internet. They invited me to stay for two nights. They had a dine-out group to a different restaurant every month, and they treated me to dinner. They have individual gardens here as well. You can have a garden.

We toured 3 different places that were independent living and without a meal plan. Of those 3, I liked Boulevard Park Place the best. They did not have an income cap so you don't have to qualify and you don't need a maximum income. You don't have to have a minimum income either. They just want to check your background to make sure that you're financially stable so your income level doesn't matter. That was very, very nice. It just had more of a family atmosphere. It's family-run and the family is very active in the management of the place. They offer free rides to grocery stores and shopping as well. I believe that they also will take you to doctor's appointments, which you would need to schedule. All of that is free and they said there are no extra charges for anything, you just pay your rent. Washers and dryers were included in the unit. The dishwasher was included too. The units, I believe, were a little bit bigger. Their 1-bedroom apartments have 3 different floor plans. It's a beautiful park-like setting with trees and beautiful flowers. There's a pool that you can use and your guests are free to use it too. I believe there's a sauna too so you could have your family come over or your grandkids. I believe there's an onsite beauty salon but it's not free, I think. I don't remember what they are, but they have activities that are typical of other places. They gave us a copy of their activities like the 5000-step walkathon for charity, St. Patrick's Day celebration, chair yoga, bean bag baseball, and sewing. They have a craft room with everything you would need to do any kind of craft. They also have a tool room if you need to fix something. They have hammers and screwdrivers, and it's just like a shop. I saw the dining area. It was typical of senior living areas. They had a bunch of round tables with 6 or 8 chairs each. They have bingo too. They have a whole calendar with two or three activities every day. They have a couple of the neighborhood restaurants that have takeout delivery. They don't provide meals but they have a kitchen for when they have a get-together. They can cook for a party or something there. The staff members were so nice. I met with the lady of this married couple who works 4 days a week there. There's another couple for the other 3 days of the week. I believe on their days, there are 24 hours so if anyone needs a hold of them, they're on staff. They're so nice and it just felt like a family. The facility is very clean, it felt safe, and there was plenty of parking. Some of the units have this really beautiful view of the east side.

We are in Boulevard Park Place and like it very much. There is something going on every single day. You honestly do not need a car to live here. They will take you to your doctors' appointments and to the grocery store. There are lunches and dinners going on every week that they'll bring you to. I have a full-size apartment with a full-size kitchen and washer and dryer. I like it very much.

I live in the Boulevard Park Place. All your utilities are paid, but you do your own cooking. You can have your car if you want, or they have transportation if you need it. They have a car and a bus to take people on certain days to doctor’s appointments. They have bus trips to the casinos or to ball games and horse races. It’s owned by a family, and they live on site so there’s 24-hour service of any kind. It’s large 3-building units. I have a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment, and I’m on the top floor with a view of Seattle from Lake Washington to Mount Rainier. They have bingo every Thursday. Once a month, they have an ice cream social and a potluck. There are all kinds of activities, so you’re as busy as you want to be. It’s the top of the list as far as I’m concerned. I intend that this will be my last move.
