Independent Living Communities in Hurst, TX

"It had all three levels of care, but I visited the independent living. They told me that it was only built five years ago. It was good, but the rooms were probably average. I saw the dining area. They had three meals a day and there was a snack area where you could pick up snacks any time of the day. For the size of the facility, the dining area seemed to be small, but they told me that if you would go for independent living, you can eat in the assisted living dining room as well. I met one staff member, and she was friendly. She knew what she was talking about. It looked like an apartment building. It's four stories. It seemed to be clean."

"My mom moved into Solstice Senior Living at Grapevine. It's clean, and the meals are pretty decent. The staff has been very helpful and even allowed an interim day to accommodate my mom. They have been super friendly. They're kind of going into transition right now and the maintenance staff is being upscaled as we speak. They have a lot of activities. They have a chapel and one of the local Catholic churches come in to do communion service. It's pretty easy to get in and out of the place."

"I didn’t really like Atria Grapevine. It was older than what I wanted and even more expensive. It just didn't seem to standout and everything was a la carte. If you wanted something it cost more; it gets confusing. It just didn't look well kept. "

"I went to look at The Conservatory at Keller Town Center. The staff was very informative, knowledgeable, and sweet. It was a good tour. I thought the rooms were very nice, but they were a little bit small for what I was looking for. They gave me a little gift of muffins when I left, and they were good. They showed me all of the activity sheets, like some of the tours and things that they will be doing. I also saw the workout room, where they have movies, and the walking trails. I was happy with what I saw."

"We have chosen here for my mother. The residents were all engaging with one another and with the staff. They were playing games, and they were smiling. The staff was warm and understanding of being in the position I was in as far as putting Mother into a facility. It was clean, it felt like home, and it was nice. It was calm. It was not an uppity wine and cheese type of place. It was just a nice community of people. I enjoyed that. Because it's an independent living, they have apartments. My mother would have a balcony if she was on the second floor or a small garden area of her own that she could use. She wouldn't have to cook, she could have meals prepared for her. It was exactly the support that we needed for her."

"I went to look at Arlington Plaza. It was so hard to get to because my GPS took me to the street that was torn up, and there was a big truck, so I had to detour to get to the street. It took me forever to find it, and I didn't have a number to call. I kept on driving until my GPS finally figured out another way. And when I finally got to the other end of the street, it was all torn up too. It is a total mess over there right now. This would probably not be a good time to send people over there. But it was a nice little place. The people were nice. It smelled good, and that's always an important thing for me. The staff was nice. From where I walked in, I saw a little seating area. The staff said they do art classes there. The facility was clean. There was a little filling station and a convenience store on the little road that went up to it. It's kind of by the lake and in a subdivision."

"I was driving and I spotted The Remington at Valley Ranch. I went inside for a visit. The staff who assisted me was really friendly. The place was pretty nice. I had no idea if they had activities but I saw there was what looked like a tennis court. I was not able to check the rooms. I saw the residents and they were a little older than me. They seemed friendly and talked to each other. My visit was really short. If someone asked me about this place, I would recommend it. "

"The Westmore was a wonderful place. Their programs and the activities coordinator were excellent. They had top-notch employees and were very helpful. It looked like independent living. You would never know the difference because it's really pretty."

"I have toured The Spring at Silverton. What they offered was nice. It was very well cared for. It was very clean. The staff were very friendly. They seemed very concerned about helping to find my husband and me a spot. I was very pleased with their manner and their hospitality. When I went there, I did not see any of the residents doing activities. I was able to see a couple that allowed us to enter their apartment to view the floorplans and all that. They had a swimming pool, a library, and a computer room."

"I took a tour of Heritage Place Independent Living in Burleson. I also had lunch there, and it's a very nice facility. Everyone I met, including the staff, was very nice, friendly, and informative. It is a very well-organized place, and they have lots of activities. They even came and picked me up for the interview because I don't drive anymore. Their cafeteria and dining room were very nice and neat, and the food was very good. It was just a very pleasant experience."

"The people treated us real nice at Lakeview at Josey Ranch. They showed us the place and we ate supper with them, which was really good. They had a salad bar, it's pretty nice. They let us order off of a menu. But the facility is about a 100 yards from a railroad track, crossing a major road. So when they would blow the whistle you could hear it everywhere in the building. I didn't want to live next to a railroad track. "

"We liked that it was a smaller community so it had more personal contact. The facility was bright and open. I had the opportunity to talk to the residents as we walked around and they knew the people that worked there. They all felt comfortable together. "

"We loved Briarview and if we could afford it, that's where I would put my mother. It is private pay. It's an assisted living place where most of the clients will move over to the memory care facility afterward. It was very nice. We sat and chatted with Janice for over an hour and a half. I knew that if we had the money, I think my mother would love it. We saw the floor plans, but we didn't sit down and eat the food. We talked to a couple of people. They just loved it there. My mother would have to be in memory care. My very first impression of the staff was outstanding. It didn't smell like a place that was trying to hide anything. That would be where I would want to stay if it were me and that's where I would like for my mother to stay if we have the money. It would cost us anywhere from $5000 to $9000 a month to put her there and we don't have that money and they're only private pay. That's the downside. You first go in, they make you feel welcome. We talked to another gentleman whose parents had been there for a while. The staff seemed happy to see their clients. The memory care is on the opposite side of the grounds and it's a locked facility. I liked it. What I saw was great."
