Independent Living Communities in Hurst, TX

"We got my mother into the Wellington. It seemed cleaner. The lighting was better, and the rooms were bigger. I enjoyed talking with the people that run the place. The staff there is excellent. I've eaten there twice, and it is fine. The food is good. They did discuss the activities, and they have quite a few. They go out and take trips. They have transportation. They have a large room with a piano. They have music there once or twice a month for people that come in to play the piano and sing. The residents sing along with them. They have a room for arts and games. We found that it was more economical than others, and there was a lot of feedback on people that really loved it there and enjoyed living there. We looked at other places that were assisted living and rehab. They smelled, the lighting was bad, and I didn't thought it was appropriate. "

"The one that we settled on is Meadow Lakes. I am impressed with the food, the accommodations, and the activities that they have for the residents. It looks like the work ethic of the staff is good. The number and longevity of employees they have is adequate. The rooms are freshly renovated and very roomy with plenty of closet space. We eat there, and the food is excellent and does not taste like institutional food. They have activities, like card games, exercise programs, and trips to ball games or stores and so forth. "

"It had all three levels of care, but I visited the independent living. They told me that it was only built five years ago. It was good, but the rooms were probably average. I saw the dining area. They had three meals a day and there was a snack area where you could pick up snacks any time of the day. For the size of the facility, the dining area seemed to be small, but they told me that if you would go for independent living, you can eat in the assisted living dining room as well. I met one staff member, and she was friendly. She knew what she was talking about. It looked like an apartment building. It's four stories. It seemed to be clean."

"My mom moved into Solstice Senior Living at Grapevine. It's clean, and the meals are pretty decent. The staff has been very helpful and even allowed an interim day to accommodate my mom. They have been super friendly. They're kind of going into transition right now and the maintenance staff is being upscaled as we speak. They have a lot of activities. They have a chapel and one of the local Catholic churches come in to do communion service. It's pretty easy to get in and out of the place."

"I didn’t really like Atria Grapevine. It was older than what I wanted and even more expensive. It just didn't seem to standout and everything was a la carte. If you wanted something it cost more; it gets confusing. It just didn't look well kept. "

"I went to look at The Conservatory at Keller Town Center. The staff was very informative, knowledgeable, and sweet. It was a good tour. I thought the rooms were very nice, but they were a little bit small for what I was looking for. They gave me a little gift of muffins when I left, and they were good. They showed me all of the activity sheets, like some of the tours and things that they will be doing. I also saw the workout room, where they have movies, and the walking trails. I was happy with what I saw."

"We have chosen here for my mother. The residents were all engaging with one another and with the staff. They were playing games, and they were smiling. The staff was warm and understanding of being in the position I was in as far as putting Mother into a facility. It was clean, it felt like home, and it was nice. It was calm. It was not an uppity wine and cheese type of place. It was just a nice community of people. I enjoyed that. Because it's an independent living, they have apartments. My mother would have a balcony if she was on the second floor or a small garden area of her own that she could use. She wouldn't have to cook, she could have meals prepared for her. It was exactly the support that we needed for her."

"I went to look at Arlington Plaza. It was so hard to get to because my GPS took me to the street that was torn up, and there was a big truck, so I had to detour to get to the street. It took me forever to find it, and I didn't have a number to call. I kept on driving until my GPS finally figured out another way. And when I finally got to the other end of the street, it was all torn up too. It is a total mess over there right now. This would probably not be a good time to send people over there. But it was a nice little place. The people were nice. It smelled good, and that's always an important thing for me. The staff was nice. From where I walked in, I saw a little seating area. The staff said they do art classes there. The facility was clean. There was a little filling station and a convenience store on the little road that went up to it. It's kind of by the lake and in a subdivision."

"I was driving and I spotted The Remington at Valley Ranch. I went inside for a visit. The staff who assisted me was really friendly. The place was pretty nice. I had no idea if they had activities but I saw there was what looked like a tennis court. I was not able to check the rooms. I saw the residents and they were a little older than me. They seemed friendly and talked to each other. My visit was really short. If someone asked me about this place, I would recommend it. "

"The Westmore was a wonderful place. Their programs and the activities coordinator were excellent. They had top-notch employees and were very helpful. It looked like independent living. You would never know the difference because it's really pretty."

"Care & Staff at Lewisville are great! My grandma enjoyed the time there. I will recommend it to all my friends."

"I have toured The Spring at Silverton. What they offered was nice. It was very well cared for. It was very clean. The staff were very friendly. They seemed very concerned about helping to find my husband and me a spot. I was very pleased with their manner and their hospitality. When I went there, I did not see any of the residents doing activities. I was able to see a couple that allowed us to enter their apartment to view the floorplans and all that. They had a swimming pool, a library, and a computer room."

"My parents moved into Heritage Place Independent Living. They've just been very helpful, friendly, and welcoming. They said to just let them know when my parents are coming and they'll have a wheelchair out there. And when we drove up, there was the wheelchair sitting there waiting on her. Then they got them dinner early and let them stay in the room. They're just very helpful and accommodating. Some of the meals are good and some were good, that wasn't a positive thing for my parents. The staff is very hands-on in making sure that everybody feels a part of there. I think there should be more participation in the people that are there. They have a big list of activities every day, but it just seems like nobody or not too many are participating. They have billiards, they talk about having games, meetings, they had a Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve get-together. They try. They have one elevator and I've seen it go out three times since they've been there, but the cleanliness of the place is good. It's nice out front with rockers and plants."

"The people treated us real nice at Lakeview at Josey Ranch. They showed us the place and we ate supper with them, which was really good. They had a salad bar, it's pretty nice. They let us order off of a menu. But the facility is about a 100 yards from a railroad track, crossing a major road. So when they would blow the whistle you could hear it everywhere in the building. I didn't want to live next to a railroad track. "
