"I liked the cleanliness, space, friendliness of the employees and how they set up their community. The staff was very knowledgeable about their residents and what they offer. They gave me a little bag of cookies from their kitchen. In the independent living facility, they had a stove and refrigerator. In the assisted living facility, they had a mini-fridge. They do have outdoor spaces and a patio area for games and seating."

"We've toured White Oaks at The Groves Senior Living Community and I liked it. I loved the landscaping, it was pretty. It had a very calm atmosphere inside and out, and that appealed to me. The thing that was the hardest was that it was a lot of walking for my mother-in-law to get around. The staff members were very helpful and very informative. We were able to see a larger room, which is the only one they had available, but she wouldn't have been able to afford that. The facility itself was very pleasant."

"I had toured Armour Oaks Senior Living before. Because of the virus we were supposed to do a virtual tour, but everything was the same. The staff just sent me several pictures also, and it was just the same when I visited. They were very helpful though. The staff who assisted me was very nice. I didn't get to see any residents. The apartments were small, but doable for someone who's by themselves. It was basically two rooms; it wasn't an apartment. It was just a room that you could put a bed and maybe a TV in there, the living room area, which was the bigger room, then the bathroom off the bedroom."

"We liked that The Madison Senior Living was available and easy to tour. There was nobody there and we were able to pick out an apartment we liked. It was pretty convenient. The apartment was very nice and luxurious, and there was a lot of space for my dad to move around in his wheelchair, which was very convenient. I didn't get to meet a lot of their staff, just the sales staff that we've been working with for the most part. They were extremely nice and helpful, and the sales person went out of his way to make things work for my dad. There were lots of conditions that he had to adjust to; he went above and beyond. It's brand new and got a lot of nice amenities."

"I picked Mission Chateau because it was very clean and very new. I didn't notice any odors or anything like that. It's also very close to my home. My mom moved in last month. They're doing the best they can in the circumstances that we are in right now. They've had a lot of turnover, and I think they're a relatively young facility. I just think that they need some additional training on how to treat people with memory care. I think the food is really good. They keep her very busy. They're in a Covid lockdown because they've had an outbreak. Prior to this outbreak, she was very busy. She doesn't have Covid, so she could leave her room; however, all activities have been canceled because of the Covid outbreak."

"Brookdale Overland Park was very accommodating. Our tour guide was just excellent. The facility looked very nice. It had a little general store and all the other amenities. They got the beauty, the barbershop, the transportation, and lots of activities that they do. The facilities were very nice. One thing we didn't like was they only had two meals a day."

"I will be moving in. I like the cleanliness, the bright colors, the friendly people, and the overall energy. I chose a 1-bedroom with a living room, kitchen, bath, and balcony. It's an all-new facility, so the apartment was very clean and would be adequate for me. They have a library, a gym, and a screened-in porch for sitting with visitors if you want to. They have two outdoor gathering areas, they have storage units you can rent, and covered parking is available. They have gathering rooms at the end of each floor for family visiting, meals, and so forth with family. I'm excited about choosing that place, and I think it'll be very good for me."

"My overall experience at Garden Villas of Lenexa was excellent. The director contacted me twice beforehand and said that he would meet us at the door, which he did. He took us around as we needed. My brother-in-law doesn't walk well, so he got a wheelchair for him. He was wonderful. He showed us a two-bedroom, two-bath (which is the only thing we are looking for), and we loved it. It was bright, clean, and big. So now my sister and her husband have a difficult decision, but they have to wait and see a couple more. We saw their dining area. It was after lunch, and so everything was being cleaned up. It looked like the staff members were doing what they're supposed to do. Chairs were wiped down, and tables were wiped down. It looked very clean and healthy to me."

"It so far has been very good. I chose this place for my mother because they have memory certification. I wanted a place for when my mom progresses so we wouldn't have to move her again. The staff is very friendly and caring. Their rooms are outstanding, the place is practically brand new. They have nice common areas and very comfortable living areas. We got her a one-bedroom, which is the biggest; they have two choices: the studio and one-bedroom. They have events, but in the COVID environment everything has been curtailed. But in the normal world, they would take them to play bingo and on outings. They have really nice dining facilities, but right now everyone is eating in their rooms. It is expensive."

"I moved to The Crestone Senior Living. Everybody is friendly and everybody is nice. The dining room is wonderful. So far I've managed to find everything perfect. My apartment is very nice. I'm at the end of the hallway, which I chose, but I think it's wonderful. The food is fantastic. They have a swimming pool where they have water aerobics. They have different groups that get together to play bingo and listen to music. They have a nice library. They have plenty of things to keep us busy."

"We chose Heritage Park because my mom quickly needed a place and everybody else had a waiting list. Tt’s a very nice community at a really good price. They always have things to do and have everything my mom was looking for, like bingo nights, movie nights, and other activities. The staff was very nice and very helpful. Mom has a one-bedroom apartment sized about 800 sq. ft. and cooks for herself. "

"My father had ongoing medical issues relating to alcohol abuse and a need for supervised care. He was extremely ill and was moved taken to a hospital in Michigan, where they didn't expect him to survive. Once his medications were adjusted, he rapidly improved and was moved into a rehabilitation facility in Michigan, but we moved him to John Knox Village in the Kansas City area in order to have him nearer to us. He also had a sore on his foot resulting from poor circulation in his legs. It had been an ongoing problem for nearly 30 years. When he finally had a shunt put into one of his veins, his circulation improved and the sore eventually healed. However, the muscles and tendons in his foot had atrophied to the point where he could only walk on his toes. Within just a few months, the therapists at John Knox had him walking almost normally for the first time in decades. Within nine months, he was able to move back out to live independently. We were very pleased with his results. "
