My mother stayed at Avantara Libertyville's nursing facility for about 6 weeks of rehab. She had speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy there. The staff was very accommodating and very patient. They were renovating, but they kept the facility pretty clean. My mother's living space was a decent-sized private room. The food was okay, maybe a little bland, but she also had a specific type of diet. They could probably work on adding more staff. I also wasn't too happy with how they went about my mother's medical transport when she moved to another facility. She should have had a stretcher. Instead, they moved her in a wheelchair, which I found very unfeasible. It was almost like the social worker didn't take a moment to understand putting the patient first, as far as moving them, to ensure that they didn't have any further issues, especially since my mother is paralyzed on her right side. My mom has also already kind of started to decline since she's been moved, so I would hate the thought of the transport that was set up for her, even if it's just five minutes up the street. That's part of my biggest concern. Other than that, the occupational, physical, and speech therapists did a wonderful job of trying to get my mother back up to speed.
