"My mother will be moving in. Everybody was awesome and very kind. The residents were well taken care of. Everybody looked awesome. It didn't smell. It smelled great. We went through the dining room at lunchtime, and the food looked awesome. My mom's apartment is gorgeous. It's one bedroom with a balcony, so she can sit out outside any time she wants. I loved everything about it. The dining area was clean and well-lit. Everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. The residents appeared happy. They were very friendly and outgoing. They were the kind of people I wanted my mom to be around. The people that work there are nice too. They offer meals. They have trips that they go on, games, a card area, a game room, and bingo. It looked like a very active lifestyle for somebody who was 90 years old. I'd like to move in there. It looks so much nicer than my house. Plus, they have housekeeping."

"I've been to Sky Active The Venetian Gardens and it was a lovely place. It had a lovely setting. It was excellent. It was a beautiful tour, and I had a wonderful host. Eddie was very informative, very professional, very outgoing, and friendly. He took me to several of the units to look. He introduced me to some of the other staff there and even some of the residents. It was a very satisfying, very informative, and very enjoyable tour. I saw 2 or 3 apartments. Two of them were furnished, which makes it look even more attractive. They were nice and clean, with a nice view outside. It was a lovely setting, surrounded by trees, peaceful, serene, and very pleasant."

"My wife is in Liana Venice. I'm happy with it. It is strictly a memory care unit. They have the right level of medical care and 24-hour nurses plus the nurse practitioner, so they can handle adjusting the meds as time goes on for the memory care person. That's the reason why I picked them among other things, that they're only a few years old and the place is very nice. They've got a great chef and the people that I've met, the administration and the nurses and everything is just fantastic. They have entertainment coming in, they have several large TVs around the place that people can watch during the day, and they play cards. I don't know about the other activities because my wife hasn't been there long enough. I can't believe how great the staff is. It's a good value when I compare it to other places that also charge the same amount or more and have less qualified medical care. It's new, well kept, clean, and doesn't smell. I haven't sampled the food, but they have a chef there and the menus that I've seen seemed to be pretty good. She hasn't complained and that's something in itself, but that's just particular to her, I don't know for anybody else."

"I toured Vick Street Manor. The staff was so nice. They seemed on the same page, organized, and friendly. The facility was very clean and organized."

"My mother is in Heritage Oaks of Englewood. She's not getting any assistance. It's just a community that she can live in so she can have socialization and meals and all of that. She's gonna be there for five months. She's just renting a one-bedroom apartment there. You can add on services as you wish, but we haven't added on any service. It's very beautiful visually and well-maintained. The staff is very good. Mom loves it there and she's just been there for a couple of weeks. My brother brought her down a couple of weeks ago. We've been over to see her a couple of times, but they seem to be paying attention to any needs that she might have. Yesterday I was there, the occupational therapist was taking her blood pressure and just checking to see her status and how she walks and all that. I think she's one of the few that does not need a walker or a wheelchair and she is doing very well. They'll keep an eye on her to make sure that if something changes, they can remedy that. She's getting three meals a day, light housekeeping, and laundry once a week. There's a lot of bingo and other games. There are lots of activities. Yesterday, they had a program where there was a guy who played piano and sang Christmas songs. I think tonight they're going to go on a bus trip to see all the Christmas lights. They'll take residents to shopping places once a week or so. My mom is always busy. They do coloring. Mom had never done that before, but she tried it and she's looking for people to play Bridge with and I think they finally found four people. She wants to find some people to play cribbage with. The food is amazing. My mom raves about the food. She said it's like getting a $40 meal at a restaurant. She loves it."

"We went to South Port Square. It was very clean, maintained very well, even though it was an older established facility. The person who took us on the tour was extremely knowledgeable, very friendly, and took us to lunch. Lunch was excellent. They had all kinds of activities. They had art classes and jewelry-making classes. They had a woodworking shop, a nice swimming pool, and a large off-the-main beaten path road that walked all the way around their facility, which was good for biking and walking. They even had a garden where people could plant vegetables or flowers and maintain their garden. It was an excellent place."

"I toured Elison Assisted Living of Bella Vita. It was very nice and the people were very nice. The staff was excellent. The dining area looks nice. I just like the overall layout of it."

"My experience here at The Goldton at Venice has been wonderful. The place is great. They have all kinds of amenities to do there. I would recommend it to anybody. They have fine dining and a bar. They have a heated in-ground swimming pool that's saltwater. They have a movie theater, a library, and a beauty salon. The list goes on and on. The food is excellent. Their dining area is very clean and very nice. They have a dining room downstairs that's upscale to where you have lots of nice food."

"My parents will be moving into AdviniaCare Venice. As they age they'll be able to go through all of the levels of care at the same place, and that was important to them. I liked that the staff there didn't have a high turnover. They showed us a model room that had 350 square feet with a little kitchenette, two closets, and a bathroom. I actually sat there yesterday filling out my paperwork and watched the residents do trivia, and then there was a scavenger hunt going on while I was sitting in the lobby."

"My aunt moved to Maris Pointe. You walk in and they're very professional. The facility is very clean. The residents all look happy, even though they're in a memory care facility. When they first took me on a great tour, they didn't change anything just because I was coming in on a tour. I got to see their lunch schedule and their activities schedule, and it just felt like a good place for my aunt to be in. The staff was very friendly, very professional, and willing to work with me within my means. Mine was a special case because I needed to get my aunt placed immediately, but they jumped through hoops to make that happen. They have movie nights, art activities, and bingo. They bring in people to sing and dance. They do bus tours where they take all the residents that are capable out to shopping centers or out to a restaurant for lunch. They keep them as busy as they want to be. They have an open garden that the residents could go out into and not worry about them getting lost anywhere."

It may not be the biggest or flashiest place, but the personal touch and genuine care make all the difference!"

"I toured A Banyan Residence. They were excellent. It was clean, the staff was attentive, and I just loved the whole aspect of it. They wanted their residents to spend a lot of time outside, and they had outside activities. There were fruit trees planted around there. They had a koi pond. They had an area for cookouts for the residents, but my husband was a little bit too far gone to go there."

"The Courtyard could be my choice because they allow cats, which is my mother's only concern. Right now, I'm still on hold for Medicaid Diversion Program. I'm just waiting for the funding from state of Florida so I could get her in some place. The staff, as far as that goes, is very helpful, and they seem to have more connections as far as getting the funding done. They're very helpful and attentive to my mom's health and needs. She would get good care there. "
