We happened to be in the region searching for a suitable assisted living facility for my friend's mother - so stopped in to visit the Florida Shores of Melbourne 1. Many of their family members live in the area, so this would be an ideal place for her to live. The outer grounds looked well-kept and pleasant. The staff greeted us and seemed very warm and friendly - which is the most important thing to their family. The foyer was nicely decorated and seemed homey. The communal rooms were all very nice, with a variety of activities to choose from such as reading, watching films and TV and playing games. They also had rooms to reserve for private parties. The activity calendar features many healthy and stimulating activities. We liked that the staff encourages participation and tries to make everything interesting for its residents. They have outings to local libraries, events, culture, restaurants, shopping and athletic events. They also take suggestions to update the schedule as much as possible. The dining areas were nicely designed and warm. Residents may choose from a variety of foods from an extensive menu. There were also places for the seniors to visit with families, as well. The dietician and chef changes up the menu to keep it interesting and encourage resident to make suggestions. The food looked deliciously prepared, as well as nutritious. The private living spaces were all clean, well-kept and conveniently designed. They take the time to personalize to each resident's tastes. All of the seniors looked very well cared for and seemed quite content living within this environment. They all had the level of care they need in a very safe place to live.
