We offer complimentary transportation to doctors' offices twice a week and as needed.  We have dedicated our lives to ensure there is purpose in every breath of each resident we’re honored to serve. Which means life extends beyond our community’s walls.

Accepted Answer

Our attention to detail extends to wandering residents as well.  These residents are generally provided with greater supervision and security and we have team members and other caregivers that are accustomed to the impulsivity and reduced safety awareness that people with changing cognitive abilities may exhibit.  The team members are trained to respectfully and humanely redirect the resident to the appropriate activity or location.

What ongoing training does the staff receive in dementia care?

Accepted Answer

Our Memory Care communities are designed to empower residents to make their own living choices. Our approach is to educate families on new and productive patterns of communication with their loved one who is living with memory loss. Our entire team is NIDE (National Institute of Dementia Education) certified or scheduled to be trained. That includes everyone from the chefs and housekeepers to the concierge and nurses. This allows us to interact with our residents as unique people rather than objects in need of care.

At Thrive, residents engage in events and activities they’ve always loved, along with new friends they’ve made who love them as much as they do. We’ve dedicated our lives to ensure there is purpose in every breath of each resident we’re honored to serve. We understand that older adults and their loved ones depend on us not only to live, but to live well. It’s a challenge we welcome every day. We offer weekly shopping trips, lunch bunch at restaurants, religious services, Happy Hour, Karaoke, Morning Exercise, and Movies in the Theatre, to name a few.

We offer three (3) chef-prepared meals daily and have restaurant-style dining with no assigned seating. Our meals can be customized to dietary preferences and restrictions. “At mealtimes, residents gather around the table and enjoy cuisine that can only be described in one word. Mmm.”

Safety is so important. We educate and train our team members, residents, and guests to first think of how to live their best life.   At Thrive we work together to support people in making choices that move them closer to feeling the joys of life.   We call this process of decision making SafetyThird. It’s a unique model that focused on the human experience. We also offer 24/7 surveillance, there is a Concierge at the front desk daily from 8:00AM - 8:00PM and after that, the only access is for people with their key fobs.

We have a Concierge at the front desk in the main lobby that is the heartbeat of our Community and can help any resident get to the person they need to talk to or get the information they require. There is also a weekly newsletter and monthly resident council meetings as well as an electronic display board in the front lobby with important information on it. And the President has an "open door" policy and is readily available to answer any questions and assist them in whatever they need.  And team members are constantly observing residents cognitive, physical, emotional functioning and have a care plan developed based on those needs. They are trained to report any changes to the nurse, who in turn inform their family or responsible party.

Senior living doesn’t have to be sedentary.  We offer a variety of engaging activities and interactions that enrich, stimulate, and inspire older adults, with team members cheering them on every step of the way. We offer daily activities that address their Emotional, Intellectual, Physical, Social, and Spiritual aspects as well as Outings. That’s how we Thrive!

We believe that the highest standards will provide residents and family with worry-free confidence in the overall resident experience.  Knowing the needed help and team members are available when scheduled or requested needs arise is part of the overall “experience.”  Staffing requirements vary by state licensing requirements and other considerations, such as the size of the community and services offered. Our residents' health and cognitive functioning are evaluated prior to their move-in and periodically based on resident needs, physician orders, and regulatory requirements.  At a minimum, these assessments may be done quarterly and when changes in resident condition necessitate an evaluation.

The residents receive three (3) chef-prepared meals daily that can be customized to certain dietary preferences and restrictions. “At mealtimes, residents gather around the table and enjoy cuisine that can only be described in one word. Mmm.” Meals on the go in Memory Care is important. For some residents, movement and eating go together. That is why we have handheld foods readily available.

Our attention to detail extends to our sense of space and we take great pride in our thoughtful, intentional design. So much so, that we not only have we created beautiful, purposefully-designed environments for you, but we have welcoming spaces for your pets, a.k.a. fur-babies, too! We are happy to be pet-friendly, as long as the cats and dogs are under 25 pounds, have their up-to-date shots, and are able to be cared for by the resident.

We don’t focus on giving great care. The focus is too low of a bar to shoot for. We focus on building meaningful relationships with our residents. We. Have found great care to be a by-product of great relationships!  Many of our key leaders bring valuable experience to our industry from other fields. Our leaders believe that if we love our team well, they will, in turn, love our residents well. We have systems in place that assure residents are both free to explore their environment and maintain the dignity they deserve.  We use both technology and team member observation, to assure residents this freedom while keeping them protected.
