My dad is at New Mercer Commons, and so far, it's been great. They only allow outside visitations. Right now, he's still on a move-in quarantine, so he hasn't been able to do a lot of activities. They offer a daily three-meal plan. We're getting our updates from the care staff.

STAFF & FACILITIES: Excellent. FOOD: The food is not satisfactory. They advertise gourmet meals. This is NOT true. They use up the same food over and over and over. The menus are the same, over and over and over. The person running the kitchen is not a chef. The food is not balanced, and it is most definitely not gourmet. The food is also not senior friendly, meaning it's hard to eat with failing teeth or dentures, or hands that have a hard time holding utensils, For the amount of money paid to live at this facility the food should be the finest quality with a top-rated chef with fresh GOURMET meals every day. Basically from what I see it's High School cafeteria food. Advise to New Mercer HIRE A REPUTABLE CHEF. YOU CAN AFFORD IT. Each resident pays thousands upon thousands of dollars to live there EACH MONTH in the golden years of their life. PLEASE hire a TRAINED CHEF that takes care of them with wonderfully FRESH made homemade food. Not food that was taken out of a frozen bag and heated up. New Mercer seriously needs to make changes immediately in the area. ACTIVITES: Just ok. TRANSPORTATION: Great, excellent transportation to appointments.

My parent was staying at New Mercer Commons. We loved it. The price and the amenities were about the same with the other facility. They have one larger dining room, which looked fine.

The staff was very helpful, and I was very pleased with New Mercer Commons. It was set up really nice. It had one- and two-bedroom apartments. They had the basic stuff that you would need to live. The social stuff was way above what I will use.

My 101 year old Mother has lived at New Mercer since 2008. Her care givers are fantastic. They are patient and loving and seem to be called to their jobs. I can't say enough about how gracious they have been.

During my time at New Mercer Commons I played games with the residents and shared stories with them. They all seemed relatively happy with their living conditions. The facilities were well maintained and the staff seemed very friendly. The residents that I interacted with were more independent. There was a separate wing for residents who required more specific care needs for their daily life. We played games like uno and monopoly. Occasionally I would help get them drinks of water or juice. The inside was air conditioned and kept at a reasonable temperature, even when it was very hot outside. I have been to other nursing homes, and unlike this assisted living facility they seemed more dismal. This was a nice place and I would recommend even my own grandparents to reside there. There was a nice common area for everyone to play games and enjoy lunch and dinner. I would rate this a very nice facility.
