"We got Mom a place at MeadowView of Greeley. They have nurses on duty. Also, one of the big things is we're from the mountains of Colorado, and it had a lodge feel in the dining room with little bears and stuff on the logs. It had the right feel for her, that's why we chose it. They know her by name already and know what she likes. They work with her very well. The food is the issue. She says it's OK, but not great. She enjoys her physical therapy, church, and bingo. I think she's getting value for the money. They could make the food a little better, with more variety and more flavor."

"I visited The Lodge at Greeley. It's a five because of the staff ratio per patient. The people there seemed very happy and very active. They've got a great menu in the kitchen. There's a lot of interaction among the staff and the clients. It's very clean and very organized. I did see some of the plates and dishes that were being served, and they looked very good. I asked a couple of the residents and they said it was delicious."

"We toured Brookdale Greeley. The only reason we didn't suggest it to my mother is because it was more expensive. We ate a meal there, and it was very good. The taste was very good. The salad was kind of different than I had before, but it was very good. The facility was very clean and very modern. It's excellent. There are a lot of different ways. The dining area was very nice. The rooms were great. You could get a studio or a one-bedroom. They were all very spacious. The staff was very helpful."

"My mother will be moving into Hillcrest of Loveland. We chose it because of the size. It was a little smaller than the others, and the size of the individual units was bigger and finished a little nicer. She had a full kitchen and granite and tops. It's independent with an option to move to assisted and then memory care so that as she needs more services, we don't have to move her completely to a different facility. They spoke to my mom directly instead of to me. They knew all the residents as we ran into them in the facility and different things about what was going on in their lives. We stayed and had a meal and talked to the residents. The meal we had wasn't fantastic, but we saw what everybody else was having and there were good choices and those looked good, so I'm guessing we just chose the wrong one. The transportation was not limited only to medical care and it was for anything within the limits of Loveland, which was a big deal. Then, they had a wellness center that was staffed regularly. They're not physical therapists, but they have some kind of certification to help the seniors stay active."

"Dad moved to Brookdale North Loveland. The facility is clean. Many of the staff that we met and were introduced to when we were signing up were very friendly and appeared to be very caring and respectful. I was told that the staff turnover there is very low too, in comparison with other places. It is homey and uncluttered. The layout is easy to navigate for the residents because it's like a big square. They have a beauty salon and my dad got a haircut there, which was nice. They have snacks available 24/7 and ice cream for the asking, which is nice for my dad because he has a sweet tooth. There is an enclosed courtyard that they can have 24-hour access to, and they don't have to worry about outside people coming into the courtyard. There's also a piece of exercise equipment that they can use and an activity area, which is very welcoming."

"My dad is staying at Garden Square in Greely. The staff has been great, they've been helping me out. He is in hospice and they've been helping quite a bit. He's comfortable in his room and it's comfortable for us to visit him. He's in the last stage of dementia so he's in the memory care unit. The one meal I saw before he stopped eating, looked very good. He ate it all. The communication is great, they call to let me know what's going on all the time."

"I was able to visit and walk through Garden Square at Westlake facility. I saw the layout of the dining area, one of the rooms, and then the outdoors. They had a courtyard, and the rooms had a refrigerator and microwave. The staff that I met were great. They were friendly, and welcoming, and answered all the questions that I had."

"Brookdale Mariana Butte was a very nice facility. It was very well put together. They had a lot of nice activities. The director lady who took us on a tour was fun. The apartments we toured were newly remodeled, so they were very nice. They had a refrigerator, a microwave, and a stovetop. The staff was very animated and full of energy and positivity. There was also nothing dirty or off-putting about that place."

"Brookdale Longmont Senior Living has very helpful people. It is somewhere that we would definitely consider if we could make this work. It's a very clean facility and very different from your normal facility. It was more like individual apartments, but you still get the care you need. I'm very impressed with this facility.They've been very good about keeping back in touch with me and giving me some other options or just walking me through what this means. We met with the director and the staff, both were very informative about the place. They did a great job and spent a lot of time with us."

"We toured Atria Longmont. The meals were a really big part of what my friend needed. They had a good meal setup where you could order food. Plus, I loved that they had the independent and assisted living people eat together daily for a meal. That was cool. It's a beautiful, nice place. It doesn't make you feel like you're in a nursing home. The staff was very cordial. I felt bad for them trying to help us because my friend was being rude to her, but she hung in there and understood. She did understand what we were going through, and all the staff did. I met and talked to the gal at the front desk. They were all very, very nice."

"My husband moved into Balfour Longmont. They had everything that I was looking for. His apartment is very spacious and nice. The staff is wonderful. The facility is very clean. They take them on tour. If he stays, it's fine. If he doesn't, that's fine, too."

"My father is in Gardens Care Senior Living - Coyote Creek. I was told by the manager that my father could stay because they're getting TRU PACE starting July 1st, so he will switch from Medicaid and Medicare to TRU PACE starting July 1st. My dad wants to stay there because they remodeled it. They painted the outside and fixed it up. They fixed up the inside. They did everything from painting to replacing appliances, replacing the floors, replacing the kitchen countertops, putting up pictures and artwork, and buying a new TV. Plus he lives right across the street from me, that's why he wants to stay there. They do barbecues every once in a while. They do activities for the residents. They do painting projects for the residents. I ate with the seniors over there in their home with my dad on Thanksgiving and Christmas. On Thanksgiving, they had turkey dinner and ham, just like you would at any other household. They had a couple of different pies for the residents to eat. They have two homes there. One home is for the people that are a little more mobile, can communicate, and can walk around, either with canes, stroller, or whatever. Then they have another home for people with a little more Alzheimer's and dementia or who need more care. Another thing that's nice about it is if the weather's bad outside if it's snowing and it's wintery and it's cold, the residents inside the home can still get a lot of exercises. The home is made so that in the middle, you have the kitchen and the laundry room and some other stuff, but you have a hallway that walks around all that. Their rooms are around the outer part of the home, so the residents inside the facility could walk a circle. They can walk as many circles as they want to get exercise. My dad is in assisted living and the other house is memory care and he's been in both. They stuck him into memory care first. As time went on, they assessed him and they eventually moved him to assisted living. On the memory side, they lock the doors for safety for the residents so that they don't wander out into the streets or get lost. They have secured doors over there on the memory side. They work well with the residents. They have treats in between meals for the residents, popcorn, a fruit bowl, bars, or ice cream sandwiches. They mix it up all the time. They give plenty of food. They're always making way over the amount of food per resident over there. If they want seconds or thirds or whatever, they can have it with no problem. When the residents do well like paintings of different things, they'll hang them on the wall. The staff has changed over the two years, but I haven't run across anybody that is doing something that they weren't supposed to be doing. I always thought they did a good job and they cared about the residents. They took good care of them and try to treat them like their own family. The only bad thing is the turnover, but you probably have that in every place. That's not an easy job and there are quite a few young workers. They don't have a little van or a little truck to take them to the centers. What you get is what's there. They don't have extra doctors and extracurricular activities. My dad had his eyes done and they had to put drops in his eyes and all that over there. They've always done a spectacular job doing it. They followed the doctor's directions to the tee."

"My mom moved into Columbine Commons. It gets rated really high, and they have a good record. They're fully staffed. They have no problems keeping their staff. They're very caring and loving people. My mom's been really happy with her care. They take people out to different activities. They have an exercise room. They show movies. They have a beautiful patio. They have different people come in to do church services and fun activities all week long. The staff is very friendly, very caring, and very patient. They don't delay coming to check on their people when they're alerted, so that's good."
