My mom moved into Columbine Commons. It gets rated really high, and they have a good record. They're fully staffed. They have no problems keeping their staff. They're very caring and loving people. My mom's been really happy with her care. They take people out to different activities. They have an exercise room. They show movies. They have a beautiful patio. They have different people come in to do church services and fun activities all week long. The staff is very friendly, very caring, and very patient. They don't delay coming to check on their people when they're alerted, so that's good.

Columbine Commons is very nice. Everybody is very nice there, too. My mom loves the people and the food. She has lost so much weight that they really want her to have dessert at every meal. However, for some reason, they won't bring food to her. We had some hiccups in the beginning because we pay extra to have her meals delivered to her room, but they sometimes forget. It doesn't appear that they have ever vacuumed my mom's room nor did they change her sheets. Those are the few little things that we are still trying to work through. I talk to the admission people from time to time. They're all very nice and very supportive; I really appreciate that.

Columbine Commons is very close to where I live and they had space because they had just opened, so the place is brand new. They transport residents to doctor's appointments and they also have pedicurists and manicurists who come in every so often. They also have beauticians who come in for haircuts. They have an activity director and they put out a monthly calendar of events. They had started a barbecue once a month, inviting relatives and friends of the residents, friends and family of the staff, and it is a free barbecue. So they do offer a lot of services. I've had a few meals there and it is pretty good food. It is restaurant style, so that they have a menu that the residents choose from and they always have a special for each meal. The staff is very caring. They aim to please and make sure that things are running smoothly. The nursing staff is wonderful. They give out the medications at each meal and before the residents go to bed. It is also my understanding that the residents are checked on about every two hours during the night. They do have a button that they wear around their necks and if they are in need of a nurse or a CNA, they can press that button and somebody is there immediately. My husband does need oxygen 24/7, so there is always somebody there to fill the oxygen tank. He gets his laundry done there and the cleanliness is good. Of course, it is new, so everything is spotless and shiny. But the staff is very, very good. My husband seems to be happy there.
