My mother used to be in Aspen House; I liked it fine. We were not going to move her and we were planning to let her pass there. Their help was excellent. She had a really nice room and I liked the staff a lot, but they didn’t communicate well. She’s had a lot of falls, and they weren’t reporting that to hospice or to me, but those things changed and got better. I ate there and I liked their food. Some of the CNAs weren’t really sharp, and the difficult part of the community was that there were no locks on the doors. They would just go in and out of each other’s rooms, so I kept looking for her clothes and whatnot. So that was irritating to me. The place was clean, beautiful, and nice. I thought that it was a good value for the money.

My mother is in Seven Lakes Memory Care. They’re fantastic, that’s why I don’t want her to move in every way. The food is all handmade in the kitchen there, and served on flatware and glass dishes. It’s beautiful. I’m perfectly happy where she’s at. Prior to COVID they would take them on outings, lunch, library, sightseeing, they do internal crafts, music, exercise, musicians would come in, and they had horse therapy and pet therapy. It’s quite diverse. I’m definitely getting value. I don’t necessarily agree with the price, but that’s the price you pay to put them in a good place.

Even through the COVID pandemic they have been thoughtful to families and have tried to make sure we maintain relationships with our loved ones, from a safe distance of course! My dad is also involved with the activities daily even during this time of lockdown. They have taken all the necessary precautions to keep my dad and all the residents safe. I would recommend anyone looking for a memory care community for their mom, dad, or loved one to go to Aspyre!

My husband and I are hoping to be able to stay here in Brookdale. I like the place very much. We’re allowed as much aprivacy and as much involved with the community we want. The staff is friendly and caring. Very good on a whole. All the activities were shut down for a few months and they reopened when it was safe, and now we’re shut down again, so that’s very good.
To me that’s in our favor because we’re being taken care of and not exposed to what we would have to be exposed outside, so I really appreciate that. There’s plenty of help if you need anything. The food, I’d like not to comment on because I think it has gone down since the pandemic for some reasons I don’t understand. But it’s alright. Some things are not, but it’s livable.

Determining Your Loved One’s Need for In-Home Care
Aging can be a difficult process, and loved ones may not always ask for help – often times it’s up to their family to evaluate their need for help around the house. While no two situations are exactly alike, this checklist can help you and your loved ones determine when it’s time to start the search for a home care provider.
Guidelines for Talking About In-Home Care
If you’ve determined that your loved one needs the assistance of a care provider in their home, it may be time for a difficult conversation. Handled correctly, however, this process can bring a family together and ensure that everyone’s concerns are addressed. Use this PDF as a starting point to help the conversation stay as positive and productive as possible.
