It’s a privilege to live in the Mile-High City of Denver, Colorado, home to more than 120,000 people age 60 or older. The low humidity and 245 days of sunshine earn the city a comfort index of 72 out of 100. Rainy days are rare, but snowfall is guaranteed, as Denver averages 57 inches annually. Nearby resorts attract skiers and hikers of all ages. Seniors who enjoy culture can occupy themselves with dozens of museums, including The Denver Art Museum, The American Museum of Western Art and the unsinkable Molly Brown‘s Victorian style home. Thin air lets older golfers drive for extra yardage at the many golf courses, such as downtown’s City Park course with its outstanding panoramic view of the Rockies.
To help seniors discover the most senior-friendly locations around the country, Caring.com conducted a new study, “The Best and Worst Places for Senior Living.” The Caring Senior Living Report analyzes and ranks 300 cities and 50 states on the quality of senior living in that area. The cities were graded using 46 metrics across five categories: Health Care, Senior Living & Housing, Affordability, Quality of life, and Transportation.
