I am/was a resident of this facility

My wife and I moved to Ivy Park at San Jose. They take care of you very well, and consistently, and the care is very good. We have diabetic care and also personal care. The structure of the building is pretty good. They have excursions and travel. The size of the one-bedroom is OK. The dining area is good. The food is good. They accommodated me because I'm a vegetarian, and they tried to help me with my needs. The community has a friendly atmosphere.

Provider Response

Hi Aikthye, thank you for your kind words and this wonderful review! We're so happy to read that you're satisfied with the care you are receiving at Ivy Park.

I was not impressed with Ivy Park at San Jose. It didn't smell good, and I think that's terrible. If they can do anything to improve, I think they need to improve their housekeeping. It was not a pleasant place. The person during the tour was OK, but she wasn't well informed, seemed not interested, and was a bit detached. The dining area seemed acceptable. The room was OK. It just wasn't very inviting. It felt very locked down. Somebody was kind of giving a lecture to people with Alzheimer's and they were all sleeping. There was no engagement. It seemed like the activities were not well gauged to the audience. I don't think my brother would have enjoyed that place at all. He wouldn't have liked that.

I visited Ivy Park at San Jose. I was greeted by Jamie, the staff in the marketing department, and we toured two rooms. The rooms were spacious, very well laid out, and very comfortable looking. The menu looked exceptional. They have a very full calendar of activities to meet any kind of interest you might have. They have a library, movies, bingo, and other interesting things. I was very impressed.

I liked the general overall feel of Ivy Park at San Jose. I looked at the shared room, and it seemed larger than the other place. We did go to a special event with a piano player and a social gathering there. It was fairly elegant. They had gourmet appetizers, and those were good. There was a common TV area, and they were going over events of the day with one of the employees reading what was on the TV. Sometimes they have things on the TV that refer to whatever their activity will be. For example, if they're going to paint, they have someone on there illustrating how they would do certain things. The staff during the tour was very friendly. The reason that we didn't go there was because it's more expensive than the other place.

Ivy Park at San Jose was like a very nice hotel. It's very clean and very neat. There are not a lot of residents there. They only house 80 residents and my mom likes to socialize so it's not suited for what we want for her. The studio that I visited was nice. They have an outdoor area patio, a library, a movie room, an exercise room, and all the amenities downstairs. It's on three floors and there are elevators. What I liked the most about this place was they do your laundry. Overall, it was nice.

I was very impressed with Ivy Park at San Jose. It was very, very nice. They have a lot of activities, which I thought were good, and I thought that the way the meals were set up was as though you were going into a restaurant. You had several choices that you could order from. It wasn't like a strict cafeteria where your choices are to take it or leave it. That was a nice environment. The staff was wonderful. I saw people eating and the food looked wonderful, too. It's very clean and very well-maintained.

Ivy Park at San Jose was fine. The lady was great and very helpful. It's a little bit newer, but the amount of area/green space was just limited.

I looked at Ivy Park at San Jose's assisted living and I liked it because it's open. I viewed 5 communities and Ivy Park is what I liked because in every room there is an emergency button. The room we saw also looked okay but I liked the emergency button the most. The studio doesn't have a living room so it looked more open. The 1-bedroom looked a little small. It had a little kitchenette but I don't remember if it had a stove or not. The people there looked happy. The place was very clean and open. The staff was also very friendly and very nice. The price was great. After touring 5 communities, this has the best price that we've seen.

Ivy Park at San Jose has a good layout. There was decent space, and the upkeep was decent, too. Most importantly, the staff was very friendly and very welcoming. My father seemed to like the place. The space of the room he has is good. He is in the memory care and they have staff available 24/7 for the residents. They engage them with socialization during the daytime, meal reminders, and medication management. All those things are really important to us, and they checked all the boxes. They have a game room, books, and reading materials. They have a little outdoor garden and walking area. It's just that I visited another facility that was relatively newer than this one, so that was the only difference.

I went to Ivy Park at San Jose. The staff was informative. The rooms were rather small for the studios. Other than that, it was nice, but I probably would not pick it even if it was closer. I wasn't too happy with the fact that the staff when I mentioned that my brother-in-law had Alzheimer's, right away, she wanted to put him in the memory care and I said he doesn't need memory care yet. We had a little discussion about that and she said he would have to have a doctor's permission because he might go out and wander. My brother-in-law doesn't do that, so she kind of set me off on the wrong foot. Other than that, it's a nice facility. It's just not something that I would pick even if it was closer.

Ivy Park at San Jose was a very beautiful place. It was very spacious with friendly workers. The dining area was nice and I liked the little workout room that they had there for the residents. It's a nice facility and the people there were very nice, but it's also very expensive. They told us that we were going to pay one price and then, later on, they said that there's a community fee on top of the $3300 for the room. None of that was explained to us. They just told us there was a $500 deposit plus the first month's rent. So, it kind of turned this off. Also, there was no type of financial help either whereas the other location was willing to work with my father-in-law's financial means.

Ivy Park at San Jose was very pleasant, it was nice. I met only one person, and she seemed very competent and pleasant. I saw the room, it was nice and has its own bath and a kitchenette. Their dining area was spacious, they had a salon, library, meeting room which could be a game room. I thought those were very nice.

I toured Ivy Park at San Jose. I was really impressed with the place. I liked that it was clean, and it offered a variety of food. There weren't any set requirements. They had options of doing whatever you would like. If you wanted to do a scheduled session of something, you had that option too. The cafeteria was open. It's open pretty early and till about seven o'clock. The central area was open, but there were no movies going on. There was a gym activity going on. I think zumba was going on, but we didn't watch it. We went up to the exercise room. The only thing I was a little disappointed in is the kitchen area in the apartment. It was very, very small. You could just put a pot, and that's about it. There was no counter space or anything. It was just a sink, the refrigerator, and the microwave. It was a little sparse. That's my only big disappointment. I know with the facility being offered that you really didn't have to cook anything for yourself, but still there wasn't a lot of room in the kitchen area. I thought it was just too small. I think we went into a two bedroom and one bedroom. It was just the same thing. I didn't eat anything, but it looked pretty appetizing. It was very upbeat. It was roomy. It didn't give a doom and gloom kind of atmosphere.

My mother-in-law moved into Ivy Park at San Jose for two months and a half now. It is close to where we live. It's very clean, and it's a good price. My mother-in-law likes it there. The food is okay. She doesn't complain. She likes to go to physical therapy, and she's doing exercises every day. They were very nice people. They have a patio in the back, so you can they can walk around the building. The church is very close, so they can go to church. They have a kitchenette, a big living room, a bigger bathroom, and a big bedroom. She has a one-bedroom apartment.

I went to look at Ivy Park at San Jose. The studios were set up beautifully. I liked the way the bathrooms were set up; it was safer and there was plenty of space. I enjoyed it. To me, it comes down to location. I would rather have him up near closer to his doctor, but my husband liked Ivy Park better. It was a beautiful place, and I loved how they greeted us with our little names. The staff members were excellent. I saw nothing out of the ordinary. Everybody was friendly. And as far as cleanliness, it was very clean. They have a movie theater, a little movie room. They have quite a few different activities. They did send cookies home with us; it was excellent. I liked the menu there.

We chose to move my husband to Ivy Park at San Jose because the facility is very clean and nice. The rooms and the spaces are generous and all very pleasant. The staff members are courteous, helpful, and kind. They appear to be well-trained at redirecting patients with severe memory impairment. The food was fine, it looked lovely, and the food was excellent. Overall, the experience is excellent. They're very, very nice and they've been very accommodating. The pricing is a little less than comparable, and the facility itself is nice. My biggest challenge is that my husband declines most of the activities, but the activities seem to be OK. I think the challenge I'm having is the stimulus for my husband specifically, but the other members seem to be fine.

I went to look at Ivy Park at San Jose, and they were wonderful. The person I met with was very professional, very kind, considerate, and a very good listener. She gave me a tour of the facility. It's very clean and neat. I would say very nicely appointed, the area that it's in is very quiet, and there's a nice wooded area in the back where the seniors can sit. I met with the chef, and he was very kind also. They were very good at customizing the care my mom would get at Ivy Park. They were really great. The rooms were beautiful and really well designed to support the needs of seniors. The design, the features that it had, the bathroom, the little kitchenette area, were very attractive, like a little apartment. They had a lot of activities. I saw residents who were very happy and who were participating in the activities, so I liked everything I saw there. The person I met with talked about the precautions they were taking to prevent COVID within the facility, and I was very impressed with that.

We toured Ivy Park at San Jose for my dad, and I think it is very impressive. Overall, everything was pretty good, very well maintained, very appealing, and very satisfying. They communicate everything about the place and the services it provides, the skills they provide over there, and the other services available on site. They have a salon, gym, massage, and everything. The break room and the kitchen look pretty neat. The break room also has coffee and snack available all day. Some residents were playing some card game in the playing room and there were people reading books in the library area, too. They gave us a pretty good box of cookies.

It was interesting. The rooms were not as good as some of the other places I visited, but they were acceptable. I looked at a 1-bedroom and they were in the process of upgrading the place. The tour was very good. They have a dog, which was not quite as cute as some other places dogs, however, they do have programs where they bring in animals for the residents to enjoy for a short time. There were no shared rooms. They were all individual rooms. They have studios, 1-bedrooms, and 2-bedrooms. The staff was excellent.

My parents are in here. They're sharing a room now, and it's perfectly acceptable. They're well taken care of. It's in a separate wing. The memory care is all lockdown. The only reason they're in there is not because of their memory; it is because they need physically 24-hour care and that's the only place that gives it. The staff does a good job considering what they have to deal with. They have been good with my parents so far. I have no complaints.

We wound up placing my sister-in-law in last week. At the moment, it looks good. The people are very friendly and welcoming. The residents seem fairly happy and are well cared for, as far as we can tell. The staff seems to have a good attitude. The move-in went pretty smoothly. They've been pretty responsive to her needs so far. She has a little studio, and it's a nice size. It's like a generously sized hotel room, and the bath is very conveniently located. There's a closet in the hallway between the bathroom and the bedroom/living room area, and the entry is on the other side of the unit. As you enter the unit, there's a cloak closet, a little efficiency refrigerator, a sink, and a microwave. It's a fairly new facility. It's very well-planned, light, airy, and open.

What I like about it is that they are very friendly and they allowed dogs. We had my husband's parents in the facility. They have two bedrooms and two bathrooms so that is very nice. The staff is very kind and very helpful. The food is OK; average, but their dining area is a little too small. There are always people waiting, and it is little dark. I would absolutely recommend this facility. It’s very nice that they have doctors on call that come right to your room. They are also very, very welcoming and friendly and warm and caring. Everything is great about it. It was just too far away from me, and they didn’t like the dining area at all.

They had an immediate opening when we went there. I like the way it is set up. It is guarded, and they have a desk at the front door, so they can track who is coming and going. They did not put my mom into a dementia unit. They put her in just a regular assisted living. I like the friendliness of the people who work there. I like their attitude that they will take care of her, help her, and keep an eye on her. They have a lot of activities there. Her apartment has a nice view and is a two-bedroom. It is set up like a home away from home. We feel very comfortable having her there.

It was a very nice and clean facility. The person who showed us around was really nice. The building seemed nice; however, I think it was a little bit more compact than the other facility. Their rooms were nice and clean. Even the room that they had available was also very nice. Overall, it was a nice facility. One of the reasons we didn't go with this one was because it's really far from home. It's about 30 miles and it wouldn't have been an easy drive. This facility is not that accessible to us.
