Chatsworth Park Health Care Center is a nice community. They're really taking good care of my father. They're very organized, but their food is not as good as other places. This place is wonderful. They have activities and the people there play the piano.

My father was transferred to this facility for rehab following a brief hospital stay. He was there 2 1/2 months and during that time even though he had physical therapy 6 days a week, his physical condition deteriorated. I was told that he was making progress, but I never saw it. His entire stay was mediocre at best. That is until the day of his discharge, which was a disaster. I got there to pick him up at 3:30pm. He was still in bed and his pajama's and his bed were soaked and dirty. He wasn't able to get out of his bed on his own to use the restroom and obviously no one had checked on him in a long time. When I complained at the nurses' station I was told they had just had a shift change and had not had a chance to check on the patients yet and the am shift CNA must have been overwhelmed. The pm CNA told me that my father wasn't the only patient in that condition. That kind of neglect is inexcusable and should never happen. I told the staff that if he wasn't being discharged that day, I would have removed him immediately anyway. Numerous messages have been left for the director of the facility, but have yet to be returned.

My mother went to Chatsworth Park after my father passed away. She has had a hard time settling down, but the facility has been extremely helpful in making her as comfortable as possible. They have moved her to a new room because there was an issue with her roommate, brought her alternative food when the menu items were not something she liked to eat. The nursing staff are efficient and friendly, and when we (my siblings and I) did have a concern about my mother's care, a letter was faxed to the facility and a response was received within 30 minutes. The rooms are adequate in size and there is an individual closet for each resident, as well as a TV. The only complaint I have about the TV is that it was difficult to determine channels for my mother as there was no listing provided. There are also very few channels to choose from, far less than basic cable provides. This facility is rated 5 stars by Medicare, which you can check for yourself on their website www.medicare.gov. It is also prudent to note that there are very few sites that have received a 5-star rating. I would say that your loved one would be in good hands at Chatsworth Park.
