"I liked Santa Fe Trails a lot. The only thing that kept me from there was the distance. The one I chose for my father was much closer to my home, so it was much more convenient. It seemed very homey, and it would be comfortable being there. The memory care -- which is what I looked at -- had a smaller dining area, which I liked. As far as activities, I toured this place in such a short amount of time that I really did not see anything. I saw people milling around, but I did not necessarily a lot of activities."

"Heartis Cleburne was beautiful. The staff was wonderful. Dad wanted to move there but just couldn't afford it. There was one thing about the room that was available, it did smell of urine. Other than that, the whole facility was really beautiful."

"I will move into Wilshire Senior Living, which meets my requirements for space and amenities. I'm living in a 1,850-square-foot cottage with an attached two-car garage. It's more like a home than anything else. There are 32 or so cottages around a huge pond, and four of them are large like mine, and I have one of those four. The staff was great. They were perfect, and I still interact with them whenever needed. They're very responsive and professional. They have three meals a day, seven days a week."

"I just really thought that Mustang Creek would be a better fit for my dad who has dementia. They have individual group homes with at most 14 people in it, and I felt that that would be better for him instead of somewhere that had 30, 40, 50, or 60 people in it. It is a beautiful facility. It is new and kept very clean. The staff is very nice, and I haven’t had any issues with any of them. I feel that they are a little overworked and that they need another person in the home. They have 2 staff members in the home during the day and one at night, and I feel that there needs to be another one in there because they seem overworked. We stayed a lot up there with my dad, and I’ve felt like, sometimes, they could have spent a little more time with the residents, but they just did not have it to spend. So I think they actually need a little more help in there. I did not see a lot of activities. I was disappointed because it was my understanding that they were going to have church services on a Sunday, and I am not sure exactly why, but they don’t. Maybe they just have not been able to locate someone to do it yet. The cooking is fine, it is good, and they cook every meal. They are always willing to give snacks if the person is hungry, so they will do something in-between meals if they need to. They have an area out the back where the residents can go and enjoy the sunshine, which I like. "

"Private room and bathroom , lovely shared living area for residents to come together to visit, watch movies, or enjoy entertainment, and nice library area for games, puzzles, and crafts. Care givers love their residents and treat them with warmth and loving hands. Compared with other facilities, what drew our family in was the home feel and very fair pricing."

"The tour was very pleasant. The lady who gave us the tour was very patient, answered questions, and was very nice. The place was very clean and very homelike. They had a garden. The outdoors was pleasant and you could be out there. The layout was good. I liked outside of each room, there was a personal space for the tenant living in there to decorate their door, and set things up outside to personalize their room."

"Brookdale Mansfield was a much bigger place. Their food looked good and nice, but my mother was a Type 2 Diabetic, so she had to have special meals, and I think they provided that. They had all sorts of activities as well. Their rooms were very nice. It was a nice facility, but it just did not meet our needs. "

"I took a tour at Brookdale Tanglewood Oaks, and I liked it a lot. The people were very friendly and very informative. It was a single-story facility, and I liked it a lot. I liked the memory care facility, and I was able to see both. I'm not 100 percent sure if my dad would go into assisted living or if I would go in memory care. The facility would have to help me make an assessment on that, but my dad would probably go directly into memory care. The facility was clean, and the patient/staff ratio was pretty low. The safety features in place were good. I do not know if I can ask for more improvement in assisted living. For memory care, maybe they could make it a little bit brighter as far as light coming in the facility and maybe they could make it a little bit more upbeat on some of the activities. Those would be the only two things that I noticed that were a teensy bit disappointing. The marketing director was very informative and very friendly. Some of the areas outside needed a little bit sprucing up."

"Brookdale Westover Hills was too expensive, but the amenities were all good. They had everything I needed and things that I didn't need. Their studio apartment was just one big room. It would be sufficient but I like a little more room. I prefer a separate bedroom. Everybody was in one building and they were all on multiple floors. It appeared to be well maintained."

"Tender Care Home for Adults 1 was nice. That's more of a group home setting. The staff seemed very knowledgeable. It's very neat and clean. I liked the fact that they had all the women in one house. It wasn't mixed with male and female. The lady was very nice and was willing to work with my mother if she went back from the hospital. It's a three- or four-bedroom house. It's pretty large with a nice-sized backyard, and they have a nice sitting area. She had it pretty well upgraded."

"My husband has been at Wema Homes since November and I would highly recommend them. When we found it, they were just starting, so he was the only one there at the time. It's a home, so he's getting such good care. They have RNs and I'm very pleased with it. They bathe him, get him up, give him his medicines, and help him with whatever he needs. The staff is great, and they do a great job. They don't have residents there that are walking around and doing things. None of them can do activities. I have tried the food that they serve and it's great. He has a big, clean, private room with a TV."

"Rose Terrace has been outstanding. They have five patients and my wife is in a private room. There's a person there 24 hours a day. She's in hospice care, which helps us. Somebody comes every day and bathes her, and the nurse comes as needed at least once a week and prescribes whatever medication is needed. They feed her three times a day, and she has to be spoon fed. The people there are just great. They get her up and set her up. The owner is very caring and very hands on. I have absolutely no complaints. I would recommend them to anybody. They take good care of her. I couldn't ask for a better group to take care of her. They have security on the front door and they have sprinklers. It's a beautiful private home. They do leg and arm exercises and they sing in between meals. It's the least expensive of any place that I have surveyed."

"I have had both a mother and a mother-in-law in this facility, and I can assure you they both loved it. This was their home until they were too ill to live by themselves, and we did not hesitate to use this facility for the second time. As usual the food could use improvement, but the care was there, the facilities were lovely and well kept, and the residents were respected. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility for your loved one."
