Assisted Living Communities in Bedford, NH

"I spent a little bit of time at Aynsley Place in Nashua. It was a lovely place, even though it was smaller than some of the others. The apartment I had in there was gorgeous, it looked right out of the garden, and it was lovely. I guess it would be considered a studio because it didn't have a separate bedroom, but it was very large and very nice. The food was fine and the staff was great. The activities were not as good as in my current facility, but I guess one of the reasons was the population, because the activities would depend on what a lot of people would be able to do. The population was smaller and less active for me. The physical therapy department was wonderful. I thought it was expensive though."

"I toured Giving Tree Senior Living. I was kind of impressed by them, but it's inconveniently located for me. Mile-wise, it's not that much farther than the Danvers, but it's harder to get to. One thing I did like is they offer respite care that you don't have to pay for 30 days. You can pay for just the days you need. All the others are you have to pay for 30 days. That would be a big plus for them. The two people I spoke with seemed very caring, very warm, and welcoming. I didn't get into quite a deep discussion with the actual memory care unit director as I did over at the other community, which I'm sure was an influence on it but, they seemed like they would be a good place to go if other factors weren't higher on my scale."

"Great facility, very caring staff, many activities for the residents as well as outside excursions. I would readily recommend this facility for your loved one!"

"The Pines of Newmarket was a very good place. I enjoyed the staff and everything I saw there. The rooms were very nice. They had a lot of games, people come in to cut the residents' hair and toe nails, and they had movies. It seemed like a very caring place. I didn’t see any cobwebs, so the place looked clean to me. It is our first choice for Mom, so we are on the waiting list there now."

"My sister is at Ridgewood Center because she has cognitive problems and early Alzheimer's. But I really wanted to move her down to Florida. Ridgewood was the nursing home that my sister had worked in at one time. Everybody is very nice. I think it's a good place. It's clean and the staff seems very attentive to the people. They try to keep them busy with different activities. The room is fine, but they have to go to a separate room for the showers. My sister is not crazy about the food and she complains about it a lot. "

"Carlyle offered my sister social activity for her mind, physical therapy for her body, and three good meals. She’s been there since the end of March. They have Yoga, Tai-chi, mind games, Bingo, and current events. "

"Myrtle Manor was family-owned by a mother, a father, and a son. It was an old building, but it was clean. I have my own room. I have a little garden I can work on. They were very friendly. They only prepare one meal for everyone. It's a small place. There are 25 rooms, and they only had 12 people there when I was there. They weren't overstaffed. The room I saw was on the first floor, and it was quite a big room."

"Courville provided a very pleasant experience for my Mother in Law who was staying there and they went well beyond expectations to accommodate the family visiting. For her Birthday, they set us up with a private lounge room and we had 20+ guests. I never saw anything that was unsanitary. They have some TV's in nice rooms for their residents. My only complaint was that at times they were short staffed, which caused a long wait for assistance. Not very good when someone needed assistance to the restroom. "

"I can't say enough good things about this place! I went for a tour and was greeted by a professional knowledgeable admissions employee. She showed me the rehab and was very patient with my questions. The patients were all very happy and staff was friendly. "

"The facility is family run and has a very homey atmosphere and the staff are excellent. The resident is definitely #1. "

"My mother is at The Villager Retirement Home. It is a 16-bed private residential, but it has gone beyond our expectations. My mother absolutely loves it. The price is right too. Everything has exceeded our expectations. The facility is a really old Victorian home. They have a big wrap-around porch. There are 16 residents, and their porch has 16 white rocking chairs that, to me, it tells a lot right there. They have activities three times a day that they are expected to attend to. When you go over there, all the residents are out and about. It is a wonderful place, and my mother loves it. "

"My dad moved into All American at Londonderry. It's very close to where I live, and comparatively speaking it was within our budget. The staff so far has been very, very good. We've had a very positive experience with them. He has not made a single complaint about the food, and he would tell me if he did not like it. I really like the way it's laid out, it's very clean, and it's a very pleasant atmosphere. I know they have music and exercise, and they have a topic for discussion, entertainment, and movies. He hasn't been there terribly long, but I look at the activities when I go and see him. They have live music and a band. I go in there and they were having one of their discussions and they have an exercise class, so he's like never in his room. I go there, and I have to go find him. So that's exactly what I wanted for him. I am completely comfortable with them."

"We had an in-person tour at Beaver Lake Lodge. They only have assisted from my understanding. The experience was very good. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. They showed me absolutely everything I wanted, and they answered every question I had. The facility was very well kept, a beautiful location, and all of the residents appeared to be quite happy there. The rooms were perfectly adequate, very nice, and clean. They have a private bath. The views outside were kind of a country setting. The location is gorgeous, it's right on the lake."

"Rose meadow isn't the normal assisted living facility. It's located on an old renovated farm. The old farm house was converted to aid the handicapped and they did a very nice job. This particular facility is dedicated to people who have had traumatic brain injuries and s set up for rehabilitation. The nicest thing about the facilities is that it's a house and each patient has their own bedroom, with a communal living room, kitchen and all kinds of space outdoors. I think it helps greatly that they aren't in a hospital setting even though they are equip ed for any emergency and the staff doctors are on hand for regular checkups and meetings on the patients progress.The facility cares for only 11 patients at a time and I believe the staff numbered between 20-25. The staff seemed very caring and friendly and the entire facility was very clean and well kept.Aside from the regular rehabilitation and special equipment and whirlpool baths for the patients they also seemed to have a pretty extensive recreational activities from inside games and activities to outside activities on the large grounds.Obviously having someone you care about in any facility is never a great experience but when you know they are well taken care of in a very comfortable home like setting like Rose Meadow then it makes it all a little more bearable. "
