"Windham Terrace was very nice, but we felt it was too expensive for us. We wouldn't be comfortable worrying if we would have enough money for the rent every month. But it was very nice and it had a cozy feeling about it. The people were sitting around in a lounge with a fireplace, while some residents were in the kitchen. The staff and rooms were very nice. If it had been much cheaper to live there, we probably would have done so. "

"I visited The Pines, and what impressed me about this place was that the environment was lovely, and the people were very caring. They really took time to explain what it is and what is not. When I mentioned that my sister is 54 and that she has a spinal injury and what her needs were, they were very honest with us. They were really trying to give us the information to draw our own conclusion, and I appreciated that honesty. The facility was clean, and it was lovely. It was homey. They allowed us to see a few different room styles, each of which was appointed in a lovely way. The staff knew everyone by name. They made a point to show us the different places where people could go. "

"I was able to visit Emeritus at Spruce Wood, and the experience was good. I like the facility, but it's just too far away from home. I was impressed that it is homey and it has a nice ambiance. It has a very warm atmosphere. The rooms were fine, and the décor was fine. "

"My father is in Wingate Residences at Haverhill. We're gonna try it out for 30 days and see what happens from there. If he wants to stay, we'll let him stay there. He just got in there a couple of days ago. He's staying in an apartment unit. It's a new facility, which is a big white building in the back. They're very pleasant and very helpful. It's a nice, quiet community, plus they have a lot of activities for them. They haven't started yet. They have therapy, which is good. They put his medications in packets for him, so he won't forget. They're supposed to give him delicious food. He has an outdoor area, and it's beautiful. He uses a wheelchair and he can go out there, sit, and enjoy the fresh air. I hope he decides to stay there. I eat with him if I want to and I pay per plate. He likes the food. It's gorgeous inside. It's beautiful. There's an activity director, but I don't know what activities they have for them. I'm sure they'll keep them occupied. The price is really not bad; every place is expensive."

"I toured The Courville at Nashua - Aynsley. They have varied dining hours, and they try to schedule the food for each person's personal and physical needs. Whenever they take new residents, the rooms are redone so that they're fresh and clean. They entertain quite frequently during the month. They have a bus that takes people out once or twice a week. During our visit, we dealt with the manager, and she seemed to have a good grip on how things were run. She was very knowledgeable about the care. This facility not only has assisted living, but it graduates right into the nursing home. The condition of the place was very nice. The floorplans were quite a wide variety. You had some private units and some shared units. It was quite flexible. The food I tried was quite tasty. It included the whole thing like the juices, the meal, the desserts, the coffees, and so forth. It was very good. They have a regular meeting room downstairs. They have a grand piano where they have someone come in and play at least once a week. They've got a nice courtyard where you can go outside and sit and enjoy the sun, plants and flowers, and so forth. It's pretty, pretty spacious. "

"Rosewood is an old manor, but I liked the rooms that they got to stay in, and it’s a nice place. The room available for my mom, however, was on the second floor, and the stairs were very steep. The dining room needs to be a little bit bigger. The people seemed to be crowded in, which we saw because they were eating when we were there. "

"I like that Wadleigh House is small, the location is good, and that I knew some of the people already. I had to comment on the food because they were advertising it, but apparently someone moved in because the food was much better than at the other place. They have music, exercise class, and games where they speak different languages. The staff is very knowledgeable. It is very clean. I am looking forward to going there. "

"Upon driving up, I was astounded by the beautiful setting of Fox Den. It's on acerage--the owners live upstairs in the facility, also. There is a pond with a fountain that can be viewed from the front porch. The facility looks very homey on the outside. On the inside, the decor felt "dated" and dark to me and both the private rooms and efficiency apartments seemed small. The dining room was spacious, though, and as I was there at lunchtime the residents looked happy during mealtime. The staff was also very friendly and helpful during my visit, and the owner took time to say hello and explain the facilitie's amenities. "

"This intimate community is privately run and very very attractive. Relatively new, it was built just ten years ago as an addition to Colonial Poplin, one of the most highly rated nursing homes. For someone who has a retiring nature or is just a bit social, and cares deeply about the graciousness of her/his environment, this is worth checking out. For the caregiver, the smaller scale make it much more manageable than a larger place. And the staff are fabulous. Not only are they caring, they know their stuff and keep a sharp eye out for their residents' well-being. They know their residents as individuals. They speak relatively little baby-talk to residents, a prevalent demeaning habit in some larger homes. Oh, and the two brothers who own it are very gracious too, and they go out of their way to ensure that the food is nicely done. My mom lived at Poplin Way and then Colonial Poplin for four years between 2002 and 2006. That was a while ago, but it' s still run by the two brothers. Their continued presence makes me thinks that Poplin still keeps to high standards. The only downside, the reason for four stars rather than five, is that the laundry regularly lost items (as is true at most homes), the person handling the accounts was not cut out for the job (they Must have someone else by now), and the doctor was a severe challenge (and has since moved on). "Overall I was quite pleased with Villa Crest. The reason I was pleased with the place was mostly due to their employees. There was always a nurse or someone close by incase they were needed at anytime during the day, I found this to be beneficial because my Grandmother needed constant help. The room was blas and kind of depressing. It was all brown and had nothing on the walls. My grandmother even mentioned to me that she was not to happy about the room. Although the room wasn't the prettiest that didn't matter because the help and assistance provided for my grandmother was top-notch. They were always very friendly to the family and my grandmother, ensuring that she had a pleasant stay by asking how she was doing and how to improve her stay. If I am allowed to point out one thing that held the score back from 5 stars well that would be the food. The food was terrible and never changed. A very small selection of possibilities and none of them appetizing. "

"This place is an answered prayer for our family. My dad is very happy, safe and loved. Every staff member I have met greets me with a smile every time. It's clean, beautiful and well maintained. His rooms is huge, has enough room for living room where we all can visit. The view is awesome. My dad enjoys sitting on the front farmers porch and walks. Loves the food, a little too much. End of the Day is happy and loves his new home. "

"Myrtle Manor was family-owned by a mother, a father, and a son. It was an old building, but it was clean. I have my own room. I have a little garden I can work on. They were very friendly. They only prepare one meal for everyone. It's a small place. There are 25 rooms, and they only had 12 people there when I was there. They weren't overstaffed. The room I saw was on the first floor, and it was quite a big room."

"Courville provided a very pleasant experience for my Mother in Law who was staying there and they went well beyond expectations to accommodate the family visiting. For her Birthday, they set us up with a private lounge room and we had 20+ guests. I never saw anything that was unsanitary. They have some TV's in nice rooms for their residents. My only complaint was that at times they were short staffed, which caused a long wait for assistance. Not very good when someone needed assistance to the restroom. "
