I went to Brookdale Spruce Wood with a friend and I was visiting her parents. The rooms were beautiful. They have a split bedroom where you have your own separate bedroom and then you come out to a little tiny living room for the both of you. Then they have a bigger area with TVs, puzzles, and couches. It was very clean, they seemed to be well staffed, and the residents seemed happy. My friend's parents said the food was very good. I met some of the staff and they seemed very nice. My friend's parents said they were also very nice. They gave them showers and they were very happy with their safety. They were all pleasant and attentive to the residents. They have a salon for both men and women as well. I was considering my mom go there, but they didn't have a room available in the memory care.

Brookdale Spruce Wood was nice and clean. It had a lot of good services. It had a nice community overall. The apartment was very nice, and the price tag was right about where I wanted to be. The staff who gave the tour was very good. The room they showed was sufficient. It was a good experience everywhere.

I didn't care for Brookdale Spruce Wood. There was nothing that stood out that seemed particularly unusual. The place looked OK. We went to different rooms and we were shown around. While we were waiting for the person to show us around, they had a resident spend some time with us and talk with us, and that seemed a little strange as if they were trying to convince us that it was a good place from one of the people who lived there.

I went to Brookdale Spruce Wood to visit a friend who lives there. I was also given a tour by Abby, the woman who does the marketing. I thought their food was good. The people were a mix of independent and assisted living, but the rooms they give to the independent were different from the assisted living people, though assisted living pays a lot more money. The marketing people who toured me were very good. I also had lunch there and the food was good. They had a little room with three or four machines, and they were using it for therapy, and people were supposed to come in and use it themselves. I did not get the feeling that it was an active community. It felt like everybody liked to sit around and talk. They have a salon, and the upkeep of the place was excellent. Everybody had a walker. I didn't see one resident who didn't have a walker, though that's not true at other places. Since predominantly people with walkers come to the facility, it's a very quiet and passive population of people, and it's not going to be very active.

Brookdale Spruce Wood was OK, but they only give you one meal a day and that's supper and they have a kitchenette. At my mom's age, she might not want to make a meal, but the people were pleasant and they were doing a good job. They have almost everything there. They have a library, a gym, exercise classes, and walking trails. It's just out of our price range and it's way out of town. It's in the middle of the woods. It's quiet and peaceful though.

Brookdale Spruce Wood is very clean, and they have a lot of activities to do. Overall, it was just a very nice place to visit. The apartments were spacious and very clean. They had a lot of stuff for the residents to do. They had a lot of trips planned, and they had a monthly calendar for the residents. They also have a fitness center, salon, dining room, private dining room, and library. The facility was up-to-date and very clean, I didn't notice any issues.

My friend is in Brookdale Spruce Wood. It's very nice. It's a very bright, warm, and welcoming facility. The staff is very caring and involved on a personal level with the residents. They try to meet all of their individual needs. They have a beautiful facility with a wonderful dining area and very good food. The upkeep and cleanliness are good. He's a very picky eater, so the food has to be good. They do whatever level of physical activity the individual is capable of, such as playing board games, bowling in the hallways, going out to shop at local establishments, and going out for a meal. They do quite a few things. They have a beautiful dining room, and there is a medical office with nursing staff. There are both a formal and informal living room for welcoming guests and holding functions. He and his wife both live there, so the cost factor would be based on their double occupancy.

We liked the Brookdale Spruce Wood, that kind of community would be good for my mom. That was a great tour. They had us meet with one of the residents and then we met with one of the staff, she gave us a tour of the building and the rooms, and she gave us a tour of the dining hall, and she was great. That tour was excellent, they were on time, they were ready for us, they had planned things for us, and they gave my mom a present. I was impressed with that facility. The rooms were small, they're all small everywhere, but it's up to date. It's top of the line, everything is well decorated and clean, and it's in a beautiful location. It's a little bit remote, it's in Durham, so I would have liked it to be kind of a little bit closer to downtown so my mom could walk downtown and go to the library, bookstore and they don't kind of have that. So that was probably negative, I would say, that we felt about it. We looked at the independent living section, but they do have assisted living there and I think is ideal for my mom. She likes to know that if she does have some health issues down the road, that she would be able to transition to that.

Brookdale Spruce Wood looks wonderful. It's got nice surroundings, and the inside looks nice. The people seemed very friendly. We're looking forward to going there. The saleswoman was wonderful, very helpful, and answered every question. They sent us dinner, and it was good. The apartment was wonderful. Everybody we met said, "You live in the best apartment."

My mom is now in Brookdale Spruce Wood. It has been great so far. It is costly, but they try to customize the treatment or the activities for everyone. They have been very responsive; they have communicated a lot with us. The accommodations are very nice. My mom is in a friendship unit. Right now, she doesn't have another person with her, but there are two bedrooms, a small living room area, and a bathroom. Everyone has been wonderful so far. The place is very clean and well decorated. The staff members are on top of things. They have a full calendar of activities. My mom has already been on one field trip. They have a van and they go on day trips. We are really pleased, but it seems expensive for what we get.

I was at Brookdale Spruce Wood twice during lunchtime and they were incredible. They're very new. It's a very expensive operation, but you get what you pay for. It was definitely top shelf. The staff was awesome. The second time I went, while I was waiting for the administrator to finish with another interview that she was holding, two of the staff members came (uninvited), introduced themselves, sat down, and asked if I had any questions. The administrator for the meal and food part of the facility spent 20 minutes with me, all of it without any prompting. It was very warm and welcoming. One of the things that we thought was a little bit sad was there was no physical therapy or occupational therapy. You do that on your own however you want to do it. There were some activities, but for a facility that was as expensive as this one, we felt that it was almost boring. There were one or two things a day to choose from. They're not very active.

I am living here in Brookdale Spruce Wood, and it's very nice. The room is actually lovely because it has a beautiful view out into the trees, and I find it very peaceful. I really love it. It's lovely because they have a mix of independent and assisted living, and there are a lot of very intellectually stimulating events, music, concerts, and workshops. It's very good. The staff is lovely, friendly, warm, and helpful.

Brookdale Spruce Wood was a very nice place but did not meet the needs of my father. The staff was very nice. The room was kind of small. The dining area looked good.

I toured Brookdale a couple of times. It was nice, I like the location, and the facility. The rooms were okay, it could use a little bit of updating, but all in all I think it was very good. I saw the nurses onsite, and the residents seemed happy there. It was a bit big for my dad.

At my first visit to this facility, I was overwhelmingly impressed by the gracious and professional tour we were given. We were treated as honored guests and all my questions were answered thoroughly.. As a fairly young person (68) not expecting to be considering assisted living at this point in my life and feeling that it is a ;living situation that i would tolerate but not enjoy, I left excited and felt I would be quite happy to move right in that day. .When I entered, it was as if i had stepped onto a University campus. There was nn air of continuing learning and knew that that type of stimulation would be important to me. Coming to a seminar on the neuroplasticity of the brain further confirmed my opinions about this particular facility. The audience was lively, humorous and informed. i enjoyed very much chatting with the residents and felt there was the possibility of friendships for me there that i hadn't felt anywhere else. I also liked their continuing care philosophy of not increasing charges as you need more assistance, I can't say enough about this facility. .

I have been there at Emeritus at Spruce Wood and have eaten there. I thought the food that I had was good. It is a more secluded location. My mother-in-law takes a lot of trips. She goes to the grocery store every week on their bus which she likes to do. They go out to lunch like maybe once a week. I know she does that quite frequently. They are near the beach, and they have a whale watch which I think she did once. They offer a lot of stuff. The facility is very nice. It is decorated, and it is more upscale. She has a one-bedroom, and she has a stove in her unit. She only eats one meal a day -- usually an evening meal. The sanitation I think is fine. They come in and clean once a week.

The staff at Emeritus was great, the rooms were very nice, and the restaurant was really nice. It looked like the dining room was beautiful, very well done, and spacious. They would take them to places. It was beautiful, I am impressed, and the price was reasonable.

We visited Emeritus at Spruce Wood, and it was all right. But they didn't take pets, so we didn't look at it carefully and I was not interested.

I was able to visit Emeritus at Spruce Wood, and the experience was good. I like the facility, but it's just too far away from home. I was impressed that it is homey and it has a nice ambiance. It has a very warm atmosphere. The rooms were fine, and the décor was fine.

Emeritus was excellent. It was very clean. The facility and the set up were great. I loved the environment, the location, everything about it. I thought the whole accommodation and not just the rooms were very spacious. The lobby and the dining room were great. The little kitchen area that they had where they could sit down and have coffee was super for socialization, which would be very important for somebody her age. I thought mom would be happy there.

Emeritus was more like out in the country and it was difficult to find. I thought it was in the city. When I got there, however, I was pleasantly surprised with this place. They were far superior from what I thought they would be. It was a large and clean complex. They probably offered more activities than any other places I visited. They have transportation service, field trips, music and so on. I didn't eat there although they did have a menu in their dining room. I would recommend this facility to others!

My experience with this assisted living facility was tremendous. The staff members that we apart of the facility were extremely nice and caring, and to top it all off they were loving. Every time I would spark conversations with the staff members I felt like I was talking to one of my own family members. Another amazing part of the building were all the facilities in it. I was shocked to see how clean everything was; especially the bathrooms. Also the kitchen and the food they served was awesome. I enjoyed practically every minute I was in the building and it is the prefect place for my grandmother to stay. Another quality part of the facility was the rooms. The rooms were amazing and very comfortable. I could not imagine living anywhere else if I were growing old and fragile. The bathrooms, as I said, were amazing and clean, and the living rooms were decently big too. The best part about it though were the bedrooms. The beds were quite large and extremely comfortable and they also had large televisions in them as well. Overall, my experience at Emeritus at Spruce Wood was incredible and I am overwhelmingly glad that my grandmother was blessed to live there.
