"My mom is now in Brookdale Spruce Wood. It has been great so far. It is costly, but they try to customize the treatment or the activities for everyone. They have been very responsive; they have communicated a lot with us. The accommodations are very nice. My mom is in a friendship unit. Right now, she doesn't have another person with her, but there are two bedrooms, a small living room area, and a bathroom. Everyone has been wonderful so far. The place is very clean and well decorated. The staff members are on top of things. They have a full calendar of activities. My mom has already been on one field trip. They have a van and they go on day trips. We are really pleased, but it seems expensive for what we get."

"The rooms are spacious and immaculate. The staff and management are helpful and very nice. There are lots of things going on all day long. The menu is varied with a variety of side dish options. The salon does hair, nails, and pedi. I WISH my Mom would move here!! This is(by far) the nicest facility we have toured in recent weeks. "

"The Residence at Silver Square was a refreshing place. It's relatively new and it's very bright. They seemed to have a warm, welcoming feeling when I went in. The people were very cordial and the people at the desk as you go in were quite inviting. The woman who took me around was very good. The food was impressive. They have a philosophy there. They take a lot of pride in their food. That's the one thing that they talked quite a bit about. They have a lot of flexibility on when residents can go to eat, so they're not locked into only a certain time of day when they can go to get their lunch or dinner. They talked about the quality of the chefs and cooks that provide the food and the location seemed very clean. Everything I could tell in terms of the food seemed to be positive. They even gave me a blueberry cake when I left. They had several activities that were interesting in terms of looking at the descriptions, anything from yoga to knitting to physical activities of different sorts. The facilities were very nice. The only fault they have is it's a fairly expensive place. It might be out of my mother's price range."

"I visited Bagdad Wood because I looked for a place for me and my husband. Somebody from the facility fetched us and showed us the apartments. Everything was clean. It was a very nice place. I looked for two bedroom apartments. Unfortunately, they only had one bedroom apartments and it was very small. "

"Tara Estates is a very nice and a very well-kept community. These are individual homes on individual lots which makes it attractive. It's pet-friendly; you can have a small dog, but there’s a weight limit. It’s very quiet and very friendly. There’s an exercise room. There's a beautiful clubhouse with a function room and a huge fireplace. There are all kinds of activities -- breakfast, bingo on Thursday nights, and holiday parties. It’s very active. Its location is desirable because you've got the ocean within a half an hour and the mountains within a half an hour. Major highway is accessible as well as good restaurants. "

"Sentry Hill at York Harbor was a beautiful community, exactly what I wanted. It has freestanding independent living little cottages. My tour was fantastic. I only met one person. It was during COVID, so it was just the two of us, but she took me all around. She was wonderful, very friendly, and helpful. I wanted a private cottage, and there were very few places in Southern Maine that had them. I've chosen Sentry Hill because they had the private cottages."

" I will recommend this place to others. I liked the woman who was in charge of our tour, she was very friendly. They even made a special effort to prepare a meal in a special dining hall. This place has a pond outside where residents could walk around. They have a large room with a beautiful swimming pool, an exercise room or gymnasium, and a piano room. This facility has the biggest accommodation I've seen. It's very comfortable if families will come in because this also has a full kitchen. The dining room where residents eat is very attractive. The table is designed for 4 to 6 people so it's very personal. They also provide activities for the residents; I forgot what the specifics are. In addition to this, they provide transportation to doctors' clinics. This place is also close to almost everything. It's very convenient and the most affordable places I've gone to. "

"Nichols Village has little cottages that are lovely. It would be cost inhibitive for me, but they would be perfect. You still could go over to the building and have the use of all the amenities, and that would be very nice. They had the attached garage which would be perfect for me. I didn't get to see the cottages, but the apartments were very nice. The staff showed me a couple of the apartments. They had a pool there, too. The staff was very nice. I just walked in, and she said, 'We'll give you a tour if you want.' They have a garden where they could give you a little plot, and you could plant your own little garden. It was all done by the residents. I really didn't tour the outside as much there as I would have liked to; it was just kind of a quick walk around. The rooms were on the small side, but they were nice. They had a little sunroom area, which was kind of a nice idea. The kitchen, dining, and living area were adequate. The bedroom was a little bit small, but I'm only one person; it's plenty big enough for me. The living atmosphere was very nice. It's a perfect location."
