We toured Hillsbrook Village. We had lunch and we talked with the residents. Those are the things we like the best. The apartment is good. They are very friendly and welcoming. When you enter, there's the flavored water, like with fruit in the water anybody can use, and cups, and then there are muffins. That was nice. There is a table for us in the dining room. We are independent. That's what we're mostly interested in. The gentleman we talked to had a wife who needed additional care, so he was with her in the same unit. I guess that's what we would like if one of us needed additional care, except for memory care, but the options are the same building. It was very clean. They have an exercise area that's open all the time. PT uses it also, they contract with an outside PT. The location is the least desirable.

My mother has moved into Hillsbrook Village @ Allenstown. What I like best is the staff. They're very knowledgeable and caring. They take care of everything we need over there. The rooms are brand new, so they're clean, spacious, bright with good windows, and set up very well for a senior or elderly. My mother has been enjoying their food and they offer healthy options. They have several activities and my mom has been partaking in them and has been enjoying them. They have a salon, fitness center, outdoor areas, and all kinds of things.

Hillsbrook Village at Allenstown was very nice. The place was brand new. They have an exercise room and they have activities going on like art activities and a place to play card games as a group, like a pub. They have beds for gardens on the porch area. The staff was very nice, too. I just talked to Kathy. Then they have three cafeterias and I was really surprised about that. I was really surprised with the kitchen, too. They had a lot of stuff, so it was nice. It had a chapel there as well. It's well done.

What I liked best about Hillsbrook Village at Allenstown was that it is very new. They have different rooms specifically for various types of activities, which was very nice. Their meal policy was incredible. It was a totally open dining room any time during the day. Their menu was incredible. What I did not like was I found their location to be a bit out of the way. Also, because all independent living was on the third and fourth floors, if you had a pet, it makes it very, very difficult if the dog has to go out in the middle of the night to get down from the third or fourth floor. I also did not like the way they handled people on upper floors who might have a cane or a walker being able to get down in the case of an emergency. They apparently have routine fire drills, at which point the elevators aren't working for obvious reasons. They had three dining halls, all of which were open all day.

My father moved into Hillsbrook Village at Allenstown. We chose it because they just seemed to offer a lot of everything. The place was new and everybody was very friendly. I was very impressed with them. The staff is very friendly, very outgoing, and very nice. They have everything. They have a salon, a gym, and physical therapy. It is very clean and has a nice layout. They have a movie theater and a little chapel, so it's kind of a little community all on its own. My father is very happy, so far, with the meals. They actually have a little table where they have three specials each day, and they'll put a display of the actual food out there. They have a little pub there also, and my dad has been down to the pub.

Hillsbrook Village @ Allenstown was very, very nice. I liked that there were a lot of different options in terms of apartments from two bedrooms to a deluxe single to just a regular single room that allowed for sort of an easier life. There was no oven in the single room, which was good because we had concerns about my mom turning the oven on. You could slowly progress through the program. You could start independent, then assisted, and then full nursing. So, that was nice. The only thing I didn't like about it is it felt like a hotel in the hallways. Even though it was decorated nicely, it didn't feel homey. The woman who assisted us was very, very nice. She knew the residents' names, which was important to me because it clearly showed that she got to know who lived there. Before we made a final decision, she invited us to bring our mom to check it out so we could have a meal there to see what the food tasted like at no charge. Usually, families could go there. It was like a restaurant and you had to pay for it. But she said for the first tour to get to know it, dinner's on them, which I thought was a nice courtesy. The place was very, very clean. We got to meet the bus driver who was super friendly and very chatty.

Hillsbrook Village @ Allenstown is a brand new building, and the people are very nice. They're just starting, but they seem to know where they're headed. It's a nice facility and it still smells new. They would take care of my brother-in-law and make sure that he was safe. They don't charge extras for things. Everything is included in the initial payment. They have a barber shop, a cinema, and a fitness center. They have a nurse on call at all times, and there's a room where they have the nurses. The grounds were very nice. You can walk around the building. They have quiet buzzers so that you can hear them, but they're not blasting. There's a room with a window. It's also nice that they can fix the rooms the way they want. The thing about this place is that you could have cable TV, too, and that was one of the things they could get with no problem.

The rooms are spacious and immaculate. The staff and management are helpful and very nice. There are lots of things going on all day long. The menu is varied with a variety of side dish options. The salon does hair, nails, and pedi. I WISH my Mom would move here!! This is(by far) the nicest facility we have toured in recent weeks.
