"Rosewood is an old manor, but I liked the rooms that they got to stay in, and it’s a nice place. The room available for my mom, however, was on the second floor, and the stairs were very steep. The dining room needs to be a little bit bigger. The people seemed to be crowded in, which we saw because they were eating when we were there. "

"Atria Merrimack Place had nice facilities. I tried their food and it was good. They had lots of activities. It seemed it was well-staffed and they were all very friendly. It had a nice outdoor space and it was convenient to everything."

"Haverhill Crossings was beautiful. The common area was very nice; it was like a hotel or restaurant. They had a pool table and a TV room. They had posted activities that they could sign up for on a weekly basis. The people were very friendly and accommodating, and the staff was very kind and very passionate. "

"If I had to put my sister somewhere, Wingate Residences at Haverhill is where she will go. First of all, everyone was very friendly. But what I liked most about it was when you went in, you could see from one side of the building to the other. There were no corridors or hallways. The memory care was absolutely beautiful in the sense of the colors. They used bright colors like orange and lime green. Not totally, but with cream colors. And then every person's doorway was painted a different color, so they would know their doorway. You could walk from the very beginning to the end of the building, but you could still see on both sides. It was very open. I loved it. They had a butterfly walk when the butterflies come in the spring and summer. And the courtyards were very nicely done. It's just one white building, and that's it. It had assisted living and memory care all in one building. The staff that I met was fabulous."

"My aunt is in Atria, literally down the street, so I'm familiar with it -- very, very much. It was a better fit for my aunt than the place she was before. The food is absolutely outstanding. You can get cooked to order food for breakfast. At lunch, there is a choice of at least 2 entrees, usually 3. If you don't want the entrees, there's always soup, salad, and sandwiches, so very extensive menu choices, and dinner is usually a lighter fare but still has a lot of choices. They have fairly regular activities. The mini bus is scheduled for certain days to go banking or for groceries, and then on certain days, they can reserve it for doctor's appointments and that's a free deal. They have a beauty salon, and she'll do both men and women's hair. They have a TV room on the first floor, and they use that for activities and so on. They have a separate room with TV, puzzles, and activities on the second floor, and they have laundry rooms on each floor. The lobby has just been done over with all brand new fixtures, chairs, flooring, carpeting. It's absolutely beautiful. I have seen the 2-bedrooms, which I thought were reasonable, not huge but fine. My aunt lives in a studio, and it's a very adequate studio. It works for her. It's a nice layout. They have a nice little campus, very nicely landscaped. They have a patio so that if people want to go outside, there are chairs and tables, and they'll give them beverages if they wish to go outside. The staff is very helpful. My aunt cannot see well and so they literally lay out her clothes the night before. Housekeeping there is fine; they'll do that once a week. They do her laundry and I've seen other types of modest assistance with medicine management. It's independent but there is some assistance available. She has never been healthier. She has to walk from the end of the hallway down to get on the elevator to go downstairs then she goes out another corridor to get to her meals so that's 6 times a day. She's OK with that. "

"Huntington Common has a whole darling street of cottages for independent living. We met at one of the cottages that were currently vacant so I could look around it, and I'm sure the person who designed it, the architect, was a woman. They thought of everything. There were lots of storage space, there is a sunroom, there is a terrace right by the kitchen door, so you could have barbecues, and there is a beautiful room layout. If I had the money, I would be moving there right now. With the Sunrise home, I would also then be on a continuing care spectrum, and it would be one move, and I wouldn't need to worry about what became of me next. It would be nice if I were someplace where I would know I could get looked after whatever my condition. There is no swimming pool, but there are nice walking paths along the Kennebunk River, a nice library, and an attractive building, well kept up and clean. There were also some raised beds for people to garden."

"I like Greystone Farm at Salem very much. The staff were straightforward in dealing with us. The rooms were nice, updated, and clean. "

"The family is very happy with the care that my uncle is getting at The Edgewood. Right now, he’s in the Dementia/Alzheimer’s Unit. The staff is nice. He’s been in there for several months now. They do special things for military, and they have crafts, cards, and go on outings, but my uncle has Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, so he doesn’t use the activities area. "

"I thought Mark WentWorth was absolutely beautiful. It was one of the nicest properties I visited. The lobby space was very nicely designed. There are wonderful sitting areas all over the property and on each floor. So, if somebody left their room and they headed down the hall, they had a place to sit. They had a snack area 24 hours a day. So, if somebody wished to have a cup of tea or coffee, piece of fruit, or a cookie, they had a place where they could get a snack. I thought that was outstanding. There were 2 dining areas, and one of them even had a piano. I thought that was a cool idea. So, if somebody chose to come in and play music for the residents, they could do it at a meal time or not. They also had a little space. They told me that there was somebody who lives there who loves to give little tutorials. He talks about travels and loves to give his presentations to the residents. In my opinion, the only drawback was, it was in the middle of the neighborhood and it was surrounded by houses. There wasn't a lot of walk around space. "

"My wife is in the dementia wing so I can only comment on that aspect of the Cedar Center. The rooms are fine, two people to the room with privacy screening. The Staff is exceptionally patient and caring."

"The staff were great. I remember one woman in particular who my father was very fond of. He was dying of cancer at the time and it was very important to us that he be comfortable and happy. This is one of the best places that he could have been I think. The food was not very good, but that is to be expected. His room was great - it had a window and was quiet. He was also the only resident in his room. "

"Langdon Place of Dover's atmosphere is very nice. They have a lot of facilities and they offer good medical care. The staff is very nice. They have a pool, a jacuzzi, a gym, a library, and they have full nursing care with their own machines, so if anyone needs an EKG or something like that they don't have to send them off to the emergency room, which is a good thing."

"I would recommend Cornerstone at Hampton. Olivia, the Executive Director, is really on-point and very caring. She has a wealth of background in Geriatrics, dementia, and Alzheimer's. Patricia, who heads the Memory Care unit, is very passionate, very caring, and very hands-on. The staff is very caring, very passionate, and very knowledgeable. They do care and they are very professional. If somebody is in my position right now on the sea coast or in that relative area within New Hampshire, I would recommend that they look at Cornerstone at Hampton. The facility is beautiful and new. More importantly, it has a lot of natural light, which is incredibly important for people with Alzheimer's. Whoever the architect of the building designed it in such a way that memory care was at the forefront. They had a beauty salon and a barber shop on site. I saw the menu and I witnessed the food they were putting out, they had fresh fruits and it was absolutely a stunning menu. The other thing on the menu was that it was geared towards a Mediterranean diet. They also try a holistic approach to memory deficits and stuff. "
