The quality of the construction of both cottages and apartments were excellent. We’re on the waiting list to move. They had a pool, exercise area, movie theatre, great dining rooms, game room, library, two or three activity areas, walking trails, and transportation services. It had everything but a tennis court. "

"After much stress and anxiety, we finally had to place our mom in a facility where she could have 24/7 care and supervision. It was a hard thing to do, but I can't imagine any better place than Fallbrook Woods. It's beautiful, warm, and bright. The facility is always clean, and so are the residents. The food is prepared from scratch and appetizing. But the best part is the care. The staff is kind, caring, and connected. I've never seen anything like it. And the activities they have planned make all of us jealous that we aren't there as well! Honestly, I cannot give enough of a glowing review! "

"Our experience with The Osher Inn has been very positive. They seem to be attentive to my mother's needs. I picked it because it's local to me, and it was a continuation of her rehab, so it was the same facility. The dining area is not relevant to her right now, but the food needs improvement. They have lots of different activities, from shopping to arts and crafts to movies to everything, but my mother doesn't partake in those yet. She's been there for almost a week. They're very supportive and encouraging for her to do activities, etc."

"My mother was a resident for 5 months until her passing. The staff were very and attentive to my mother and our families needs. Mom was very well cared for. I had great comfort in knowing she was safe and every need was met. Mom loved the food and was happy there. This facility was a blessing when I could no longer care for her at home."

"Falmouth by the Sea had an excellent facility. They did have beds available but I was concerned because it is a very exquisite and elite place so I know that once the hundred days are over, it was going to be very expensive. The staff was very attentive and there seemed to be quite a few staff members running around. I didn't see anybody who was dissatisfied or cranky or they didn't look like they were being unattended. It didn't have any urine smells, it looked fairly classy. The rooms were semi-private from what I remember. I saw the assisted living, it is all self pay and it was all upscale. They had dining areas that were more of tables that were set up so that there would be four or five people that could sit at the table and they had table cloths. It didn't look like a nursing home area, it was very nice. "

"My mother is in Seaside Skilled Rehabilitation Center. The facility is good. It's in good shape, and it's clean. The people there look clean. The food is good. The staff is good, and the activities are good. My mother likes the place, which is saying something because of the way she is. The staff is awesome. The people that are there were good. Like most places right now, they don't have enough of them all the time. Regardless, they're good. The food looked pretty good to me. Their amenities include a hairdresser and a gym. They have an atrium where they play activities in, and they have function rooms. Most of the facility is one story with six or seven different wings. The landscape is good. Her room is beautiful. She has a window looking out the back. They're not the cheapest, but they're not the most expensive."

"My in-law was welcomed to the Heron House, and staff does whatever they can do to make her comfortable . The level of caregiving is very high. Meals are very important to seniors and every effort is made to provide nutritious DELICIOUS meal.s. The chef goes out of their way to provide special requests. The Heron House is a comfortable, relaxed environment. Activities like Bingo and music are available. The family-like atmosphere is warm and welcoming. "

"My father was a resident at PCAL. He enjoyed the smoking area with the canopy sides and roof that was installed. He also enjoyed being near the bus line and right in-town as he liked to go out into the community. It has a nice area to go sit outside in the nicer weather including a gazebo. Also enjoyed trips to different restaurants on the mini bus."

"I've toured several places. The one I like the best is Stroudwater Lodge in Westbrook. First of all, I liked the staff. It seemed to be well staffed. All the staff seemed to be friendly. They have OT, PT, and speech therapy right on site. They're full time there, so I like that a lot. Leah who took me around greeted every one of the residents we met by name. A couple of the residents spoke to us and said they loved it there, so that would be the first thing. I liked the facility. I like that they have a lot of activities geared towards seniors. For my friend, one of the things that was especially good is that the chef will do gluten free, which some places can't accommodate. I like the location. It's in the woods, and there is a Portland trail (a really nice walking path right next to it). In fact, you can go through the largest patio to get to the walking trail, and it's easy. It's a wide path. It's fairly easy walking, so I like that a lot. They just seem to meet the needs of the people that were there. They look at it as their job is to fit the client, not the client to fit them. They provided us with a take-out meal, which was excellent. It's big (which might not appeal to everybody), but it's very comfortable. All of the activity rooms, exercise rooms, and everything was very nice. The apartments were lovely."

"My husband was at Avita of Stroudwater for the last year of his life. Every time I visited, I saw that the entire staff was very patient, caring and respectful of his needs. As we watched his decline, he was never afraid or unhappy at Avita. I really appreciated how well and how often the staff, and specifically the medical staff, communicated with us. When it was time for Hospice to become involved, the staff at Avita and the Hospice staff worked in a very coordinated manner. They made a difficult year as easy for all of us as possible. A huge Thank-you to the entire staff at Avita."

"My mother-in-law was in Springbrook Center for rehab and I got a frantic call that she was unresponsive and rushed to the hospital and that she had almost died. She had fallen there and nobody told us. It's not recorded in her medical notes. We had a horrible experience there. Her room was sparse, but it was clean. When you walked into the facility, it smelled like urine and like a toilet. She had a private room and her own bathroom, and it was very nice. We had one nurse's aide that was very good. She was always in her room by herself and she watched television in her room by herself. It looked to me like they had not done much maintenance. They just clean it and that's it. It's in need of some help."

"HarborChase of South Portland is new. It offers a lot of field trips and things. They're only a 43% capacity, so I think they're a little lacking in some care areas, but overall, it's a good facility. My father has been there for almost a month now in assisted living. The meals are very good. The staff that are there are good, but they need more staff. They have many activities. They have a lot of live musicians like a piano player that comes in and they do different concerts once or twice a week for an hour, and they do bus trips. They went out for lunch and ice cream."

"My brother has lived here for five years. The owners and family run it and they are very kind people. The place has a very calm feeling to it. This is a two hundred year old building with a lot of charm. The wrap around porch has many flower baskets and is a wonderful place to sit and look over the manicured grounds. The staff is very caring and helpful.It's crucial to have competent staff and Windham Residential Care has this. I visit my brother often and have observed the staff interacting with residents in a respectful and competent manner."
