My mother ended up staying in Schooner Estates. It is a comfortable country setting. It is near family. The staff and management are just wonderful. They go above and beyond. They go out of their way to help, make things livable, and make it more like home. They treat her like she is their family. The food is very good. They have all kinds of chair exercises and different things to do. They have entertainment come in to keep them busy. If you want, they'll take you out to different places. They have a van to take a group out. It is just that they can't give nursing home care; they don't have that available. They have a piano room, an exercise room, and hairdressers. We are getting what we pay for, but it's still quite expensive.

Schooner Estates was too small for me. I couldn't live in that one room. They have a nice dining area, a nice living room, and a nice breakfast bar. It was clean. The staff showed us a room.

My mother is transferring to Schooner Estates. It's awesome. She will be in their memory care unit. It's a brand-new facility designed for people with memory loss. The people were extremely professional, nice and helpful, and it was very welcoming. They had a salon, and it's adjacent to doctors' offices.

The tour at Schooner Estates assisted living was good. Everybody was very polite and cordial. There was a little miscommunication in regards to the entrance to be used, which was no more than a 3-minute inconvenience at best, so it wasn't even a thing. They were in the process of doing a Mardi Gras-themed event for the day that I was there because it was Fat Tuesday. I got to see examples of the menus and the activity schedules. I had a very good and thorough walk-around of the grounds and an explanation of things that happened when the seasons are a little bit more accommodating to outdoor activities. As far as amenities, I saw that they had an in-house general store, an in-house salon, and a cafe. They also had multiple dining areas for different portions of the establishment. I got to see a fitness area. Even though it was covered with snow, I was shown a couple of areas for outdoor activities for when the weather comes back around. The apartments were efficiency apartments. I saw two different variations that they offered there, but they were both essentially one major living space, a kitchenette type of space, and then a bathroom and a storage closet. Given their purpose for being there, I found the size to be very appropriate. I can hope that, at least, a place like that size or bigger will be in my future when I get to be that age. I do know that as far as size is concerned, I have found both while doing research and personally, the stigma of the retirement community as "old folks' home", I understand, given the size of the space, where some of that might come from. Like, you're not moving into, theoretically, better than you got right now. It's very essential and necessity-based. The grounds were beautiful, but there weren't a whole lot of bells and whistles. They did not serve me a meal there, but I got to see both an example of the menu and the food that they serve. That seems very, very appropriate and better than what I'm eating currently.

My tour of Schooner Estates was very accommodating and very personal. The physical infrastructure was really impressive. There were high ceilings and there were chandeliers in the dining areas. There was a feeling of a lot of air and space and very good fenestration in the apartment units themselves, vastly superior to the other place that I visited. They had very nice apartment layouts. The value of what you get for what you pay for was really impressive, in terms of the quality of the space. It felt as though the director had a very personal interaction with all of the residents that we ran into. We didn't interact with other staff extensively in any way. We just said hi to a few people. We weren't able to try the food, but it looked like a very nice menu. Everything seemed quite clean, sparkly, and light. The one thing I noticed was there didn't seem to be a real full schedule of engaging activities. I liked the feel of the apartments and that's so important.

I'm quite familiar with Schooner Estates because my mother and father-in-law both spent a few years there before they passed. We love everybody there. The staff is amazing and caring, the facility was very nice, very up-to-date, and very accommodating. They did a nice job celebrating all the holidays and having recreational time set aside. One very impressive thing was the music. They had a lot of music venues and people came in to entertain. This was before COVID so I don't know how they handled the COVID situation. The whole facility was very clean. My father-in-law was in a room in assisted living with another person and then more of a higher care situation after that. He was never in an apartment by himself. We had a meal there once, it was a special holiday that we set up for our own family to dine with my in-laws. The food was good. For any of the holidays that we participated in, the food was very good. I believe my father-in-law enjoyed the food while he was there. He never complained about it. They had a private dining room that you can reserve. It was in this big common room.

I went to Schooner Estates. I toured the whole campus, but I was specifically in the memory center. It was very good. Safety and security was very good. They were all single rooms. The place is quite new. I saw the outdoor facilities, which are enclosed and everything. It was all very nice. The dining hall facilities were very nice. There was a lot of activity. They were doing a lot of puzzles, but there was a leader of the activities. Some people were doing puzzles. Some people were watching a video; I think of outdoor activities, canoeing, or something. Everything was bright, clean, and colorful. I thought the bathrooms and rooms were very well taken care of and nice.

Our tour at Schooner Estates was good. The man, David, that gave us the tour information was very helpful. He gave us a real friendly feel of the facility. The tour showed us what the inside of the place would look like and what a studio apartment would look like. We got a better visual view of where my mom would be staying. We saw the available studio apartments, the open areas where they dine, where they have activities, and they filled us in on what a day to day schedule looks like there. The studio apartments were very nice. They have everything that she would need, especially really large bathrooms and really safe showers. The dining area was very nice and welcoming. The community was clean. I saw them doing bingo. I like that my mother will have her own space, but have plenty of opportunities for socialization.

My parents moved to Schooner in 2015 and have had nothing but good things to say about this place. I have visited numerous times over the years and have always been impressed with the friendliness of the staff and have met some great people there. My parents refer to some as their adopted grandchildren! My father recently passed and the outpouring of love and support for my mother was amazing. Schooner even provided bus transportation for the residents to attend his graveside service. Also, they worked very hard to keep their residents safe during the COVID pandemic and we’re successful at doing so. I would highly recommend this first rate establishment.

My mom is at Schooner Estates memory care and they're wonderful all the way around. The staff members are very caring, very devoted, and very attentive to the patients. They're very cautious, and they're doing the best with what they have for COVID purposes, too. Communication is great. If they have questions or if my mom has some difficulties they give me a call, they let me know if there's something needed, they're very informative, and they let me know things I need to know. Food is great. They have a lot of activities for my mom's level. That kind of care is very, very pricey, but they certainly do whatever they can and whatever is needed. We feel very comfortable leaving my mom in their care, and for what it's worth, it's great.

We moved Dad here after a placement in another facility that did not measure up to the care we wanted for him. We were more than impressed upon first visiting Schooner. We moved Dad here, and he was in the large main room talking to other residents from that time on- it seemed he was out there every time we visited! He like the staff, was always smiling, and his time here was a reflection of how warmly he was treated and cared for. Dad was 84, and had significant medical issues, but the staff worked overtime to keep him as independent as he could be, and still be safe. Both my wife and I have said more than once that when the time comes, we could live here and be happy. The 5 stars I rated Schooner is a true rating.

I have a dear friend who relocated to Maine to be near a family member. Previously she had resided in a beautiful retirement facility in Florida overlooking a golf course. She was very depressed as her son had recently passed away. We were very concerned for her well being and the adjustment to a new home. We cannot believe the change in her in a few months. Her enthusiasm and zest for life has returned. She raves about Schooner Estates - the staff, the other residents, the food, the activities, everything. She is so happy. She never complains about anything. In the past I would feel so sad after our phone calls and now I look forward to our daily chat. She is a new person and I can't thank you enough for the change to my dear friend. Keep up the good work - you have created a very warm and inviting atmosphere. Also this is the first time in her life she has lived by herself and she was very nervous and scared. Every day she has something interesting.to tell me and I have my dear friend back - lively and funny. Thank you.

My father moved into Schooner Estates. It's been very good, the overall communication is good, the apartment is wonderful, very nice, it was all redone, repainted, and has new carpets. Everything is in perfect shape, the air conditioner is built in, and it's such an amazing facility. I can't say enough about it. It's beautiful, my dad loves the people who come and see him, and he just loves it. My father has put on a lot of weight in one month, and he loves the food. They do anything we ask, they answer all our questions, and it's just wonderful.

My Dad passed away this past Friday. We remember his hesitation when we first talked about moving him from Hospice to Schooner Estates. Once there, he came back to life. He enjoyed his meals, the tenants, the nurses, the staff and the activities. For all intents and purposes, he even started courting Mom again (she lives in Independent Living). He was able to go visit her in her apartment, or he would go "pick her up" and walk her over to the Village Green to listen to music, or attend one of the holiday/New Years parties. They have both been happier than they have been in a long time! As children, we have loved seeing how the staff treats them so respectfully and lovingly. We've also experienced how they have included our whole family in that circle. The dining staff not only served our family meals, but delivered them with a tight hug and sincere emotion as my Dad's health declined. Dad's nurses handled him with such loving care. We weren't sure Schooner would be able to do end of life care as well as hospice, but with the guidance of the hospice nurses, they exceeded our every wish. They were tender, compassionate and so very respectful of him. They talked to us honestly and delivered care according to Dad's needs and our wishes. We were so happy that we didn't have to move him to another facility at such a fragile time. Now, the tenants and staff will help us support my Mom as she grieves his loss when we aren't there. She received a condolence call from one of her new friends this morning and that absolutely made her day and touched her very deeply. She had been reluctant to return to the dining room until that call. Everyone at Schooner has been so wonderfully kind and compassionate to our entire family. It's very difficult to express the depths of our gratitude properly, but I hope this relays a fraction of it.

Schooner Estates was very nice and clean, and the people were very helpful. We saw the rehab area and the library. They showed us two different rooms and a little bit around the grounds. It was just too expensive for us. The dining area was very nice. They were having a cookout outside, and there were a lot of people just mingling. The staff member took me inside to different floors as well.

Cannot say enough about Schooner, if you have to be in a facility this is the one! The caring and cleanliness is without measure. They also listen to you. Our family feel happy and relieved that mom is so well taken care of. Now instead of being caregivers we are her children again. We enjoy our visits with her. Everyone is so happy there. Kudos to Schooner !

I have been to Schooner Estates previously (several times) and I give them very high marks. What was appealing to me was the only meal that would be on a daily run was at 1:00. I liked where it's located and the environment. It's sort of nestled in a group of trees. It had a forest or a woods feeling to it. I would give a high mark to the arrangement and the general appointments of the rooms I saw. They have planned activities during the week. They also have activities outside -- particularly in the warmer and better weather -- trips to New Hampshire or to Northern Maine, and day trips around Portland. There were people coming in as well, bible study, and a book group comes in on occasion. I was very impressed.

Schooner Estates is very nice and is something we would consider. The pricing is comparable, and even a little bit less than the other communities we looked at. It's just that it's a little bit dated, but it's still nice and clean. The fellow that runs the place was very cordial and is probably the most knowledgeable person that I've talked to. The menu looks very good also, and they do a good job with the cleanliness. There are several plans, and there's one where they offer lunch and you pay for dinner and breakfast.

I toured Schooner Estates, and it's OK. It looked nice, including the building, and the grounds, but it's not something I'm looking forward to. They have gatherings, game rooms, and exercises. It keeps the people that want to participate busy, and it's good that they don't keep them in their room. The staff was very courteous.

I had an excellent tour at Schooner Estates. They showed me a calendar of events, and I was pretty impressed with it. The residents seemed to be very comfortable. They actually strip the room of everything, so it is like brand new when you move in. My parents are moving in there, so it is a top-notch, very high-end facility but has good value for the money.

Schooner Estates had everything from assisted living to independent living. We had a fantastic experience there and really liked the facility. It's nice to be able to put someone in a location where you don't have to move them and needs will be met depending on the progression of their condition. They met all the needs.

Schooner Estates was pretty well high rated. They had several different types of apartments depending on what you want to do. They have different programs and several dining areas; again, it depends on what you choose. A room has a bedroom, a front room, and a little kitchenette. They have any activities you want. I would recommend them because it's very nicely decorated and they have very nice rooms, but they can improve their central air because they have window air. They got the walls painted halfway down, and every room has plush rugs in it.

We found Schooner Estates in Auburn. We have friends who live in the community, and we came to visit them and saw for ourselves how great it is living in this facility. The atmosphere is wonderful. Everybody is very friendly, helpful, and cheerful. It's just a happy place to live. We are in the independent living section, and we have a two-bedroom apartment with a patio. We get the main meal in the dining room at 1 o'clock, and the food here is excellent. I am diabetic, and they fix special food for me. The staff is wonderful. No matter whom you ask for help on the staff, you always get it. They have a shuttle service to take you to do the market or to take you to doctor's appointments.

I lived there for a while. I was taking care of my brother in law and that is a very nice place! It's very nice and expensive, but affordable compared to other high end facilities. I can go to Schooner estates for less money and 3 meals a day. You can get a one bedroom at Schooner Estates for less money than other expensive facilities. The staff is great. You can't ask for better people! The housekeepers, the maintenance people.. They go out of their way to help you. I'm very satisfied with them. If you've never been there, you should make a trip there! It is beautiful and their food is very good. I would recommend that place to anybody in fact I have many times. I still go over there and help the woman with her knitting and crocheting. I like that place very very much. It's a warm, comfortable place and people are very friendly.

My mother lived at Schooner Estates for about a year until she needed more care than the residential care unit could provide. I also have two friends with parents there. This is a terrific place and I would highly recommend it. The physical facility is lovely, the grounds are well kept, the apt. living is extremely comfortable with a good variety of options. The staff stays on for a long time. They know everyone and are very involved with people each day. I always felt comfortable knowing my mother was receiving very good care. Good food, beautiful dining room. It has a real community feeling. Lots of activities to choose from with many levels of independence taken into consideration. Everyone deserves to grow older in a place as nice as this.
