My father is at the Residence at Silver Square. The facilities themselves are very, very nice. They have a dining room where they can go in and order pretty much anything they would like. They have assistance with medications. They have numerous places to watch movies or TV that are very comfortable. They have an arts and crafts program that is very good, as well as an exercise room and a supervised exercise program. The resident events are very nice. People get together and meet each other. I was worried about my father, who's legally blind and pretty deaf, but he's made a lot of friends and really enjoys it there. The staff members are very engaging and offer help. The food is pretty good.

The Residence at Silver Square was beautiful. It was a very beautiful place. It felt very energetic and very youthful. It felt very all-inclusive. Like you could continue with your life there, whether it's exercise and food. It was quite outstanding. The food was excellent. I was treated very well by the staff, but the main person was fairly new to the game. The Residence at Silver Square was a little uppity and upscale, and there was certainly a vibe about that. But I was thinking about my mother-in-law and that wouldn't be a place that would jazz her. It jazzed me, but I'm not going there. They had some very unique things that I thought stood out. However, the location was not that great.

We were very optimistic about Silver Square when my brother moved into the dementia facility there. I live nearby, so I was able to drop in at odd times to visit. One of the first things I noticed was that more than half the time, the programs planned for the residents just didn't take place. I would bring my brother to the rooms where the activities were scheduled, and no one would be there. We would wait, and no one would show up. Finally I would go ask a staff member--if I could find one--and the answer was usually, "Oh, no one showed up, so it was cancelled." First of all, these are people with dementia. A program written on a white board means nothing to them. The activities person or other staff need to bring patients to the activity and sometimes help them. Second, since no staff person would actually SHOW UP at the program site, how would they know no one was there? Maybe because they were low on staff, the employees mostly seemed to ignore the residents. When I would ask if my brother had gotten his medication that morning, no one seemed to know. Patients just wandered around with no direction, sometimes lying down in other patients' rooms, sometimes blankly sitting in the tv room for hours--and obviously with diapers that needed to be changed. It was so depressing to go in there and see how these poor people were "living." If there was a pet kennel like Silver Square, I would not let my dog stay there.

I went to the Residence at Silver Square. I like them because they deal with memory care, which is what my mother needs. It's a nice place. Everybody I met up there was very nice and the staff explained everything to me. I didn't really have any questions; she pretty much explained everything. The rooms were very nice. I'm hoping my mother gets in with another person, but if not, she's going to go into a single room. I like the rooms. They are set up nicely. They have plenty of room. They have a nice bathroom. The bedrooms are big. They have a big porch, but of course, they won't use that in the winter. They have things to keep them involved all day long. They have a hairdresser who comes in, and they have pedicures or something like that, and I like that. Everybody eats together and they do it as a group. I also like the dining area. The place is very clean. I'm very impressed. It looks nice in there. Everybody is very friendly. They're looking out for the patients.

The Residence at Silver Square was a very nice community and a good location. It's a very nice place. At the time, I thought it would have been good for my mother and that she'd be able to live there, but she needed much more care. It was set up more like little apartments and they encouraged socializing. So, they had a lot of activities and they encouraged people to go and eat in the dining area. They had a menu, which looked good. I told my husband I wouldn't mind living there. It was a very nice place, but it was just too expensive. That was one of the deciding factors, the cost. Everybody I met was very nice. The woman that I met with, Audra, made several phone calls just touching base with me to see how things were going and all that. So, she was very kind, very friendly, very understanding, and very informative. They would also allow pets. If you had a pet, you could have your pet in your room, but you weren't allowed to let them roam the area. They could be in your room and you would be able to take your dog out for a walk and things like that. What I saw was a one-room apartment where your bed and your kitchen and living room area were just one big open concept and it had a nice bathroom with a step-in shower.

The Residence at Silver Square was a refreshing place. It's relatively new and it's very bright. They seemed to have a warm, welcoming feeling when I went in. The people were very cordial and the people at the desk as you go in were quite inviting. The woman who took me around was very good. The food was impressive. They have a philosophy there. They take a lot of pride in their food. That's the one thing that they talked quite a bit about. They have a lot of flexibility on when residents can go to eat, so they're not locked into only a certain time of day when they can go to get their lunch or dinner. They talked about the quality of the chefs and cooks that provide the food and the location seemed very clean. Everything I could tell in terms of the food seemed to be positive. They even gave me a blueberry cake when I left. They had several activities that were interesting in terms of looking at the descriptions, anything from yoga to knitting to physical activities of different sorts. The facilities were very nice. The only fault they have is it's a fairly expensive place. It might be out of my mother's price range.

The Residence at Silver Square was very nice. It's a huge facility, but extremely nice and fairly new. I think it's only been open for four or five years. The memory care residents were in the hall doing exercises and it looked like they were enjoying themselves and that the nurse was interacting with them a lot. I was very pleased with it. The rooms were very clean and bright. They were very conscious about the colors that they use in their memory care unit, which I found very interesting. The staff wore certain colored shirts. Their plates were in certain colors to encourage the residents to eat more. The dining room was very elegant. One of the reasons we didn't choose it was they're very expensive and we decided on a smaller facility rather than a quite large facility.

We toured The Residence at Silver Square and the studio that they had was very small. We could not see any one or two bedrooms, which we were interested in, because they only have 2 two bedroom suites. The staff was very friendly. They have flower arranging activities, book club, cards, and bingo. The food was fine.

My husband was a resident for 8 months suffering from vascular dementia. I was appalled at the poor care he received. Many times I found his bedding unacceptable, personal care so poor I was forced to shower him myself and supervision non existent. The lack of good management was very apparent. Very few activities listed actually occurred , residents left in their rooms for hours often through meals. Beautiful rooms and surroundings, many great staff members , but not enough. Extremely disappointed !

The first place I toured was The Residence at Silver Square. It seemed to be a very well-managed place with wonderful dining facilities. I met with the general manager. She gave me the tour. The rooms were, I thought, somewhat small with not a lot of places for clothing, but the dining facilities were unbelievable. You could order anything, steak or shrimp or whatever you wish to have, at any time of day. I briefly met the chef who was very polite as well. They had many activities available for those that could participate. They have crafts, physical therapy, and so forth. It was wonderful, but the practice was just totally out of my range. For that reason, I thought it was not something that I could participate in. The facility itself was beautiful. The lobby, when you walk in, was like a palace.
