I have been living at Holman Gardens independent living for a little while now. I think it's great here. They have a congenial and helpful staff and they have a lot of amenities; it's just a great place to live. My apartment is really great; I have two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a patio. I don't know what else I could want. They offer us all kinds of activities. We get dinner every day and some other occasional meals, they have rides where they take us to and from doctors appointments, and we get all kinds of bus trips, do activities, and go grocery shopping. In terms of food, I like some things, and I don't like other things, but they offer alternatives. If you don't like what's on the menu you can call them ahead of time and order something different, because they have a list of things they can make in place of the normal menu. The staff is wonderful, we get housekeeping, and if we can't make it to the dining room they bring us a meal to our rooms. Even the gardeners know our names and they're nice. If something goes wrong in the apartment, you just give them a call and they'll be out pretty quick to fix what's wrong. I just can't say enough good things about them. They work very hard to keep up with the place.

I visited Holman Gardens. It had some important things we needed. The apartments were of a nice size and had a washer and dryer included, which was a definite plus. It was a non-profit, so it was much more affordable. The staff was very nice. The residents seemed to enjoy living there. They had transportation to shopping and doctors' appointments. They also had a garden, a craft room, and a pool.

The second choice would have been Holman Gardens, but they did not have any opening. It was nice, and the people were friendly. The food was good and smelled good. They had a "sit-and-fit." They may have a bus or van to go places, like doctors' appointments.

We looked at Holman Gardens for my mom. The staff was very nice and very polite. However, the facility was rundown, and it hadn't been updated or upgraded. It looked like the 1980s. Their apartments were pretty large with balconies. The residents seemed to like the place. There was a huge group of women knitting, and they seemed very comfortable. Also they have a wonderful indoor pool and a very warm small pool that has jets. The facility was clean, but it needed new paint and new carpeting. It just looked old and tired.

My mom had several friends at Holman Gardens Retirement before she moved in, and for a decade or longer, she'd been going there for her water aerobics class. There are all kinds of aerobics classes. There's gardening; there are massage classes; there are computer classes. The list goes on. It was close to home, and it was close to where I live. It was affordable, and she could have pets and a garden. If my mom were not happy there, she would move. That includes the meals, the service, the size of her apartment, the rate, the rent, what the rent includes, the pool, the garden. If any of that stuff was undesirable or less attractive to her, she would consider relocating.
