"I toured the Chateau de Boise. It was friendly, quiet, and home-like. The staff was very nice, and she was excited to show it to me. The rooms were spacious. I would have no problem moving there. I ate a meal, the dining area was large with tables that seat six. The food was OK. There's a game area. I saw a couple of people playing dominoes. There wasn't anything organized at the time I was there. There was live music in the dining area after lunch. The surroundings were pleasant."

"My brother has moved into Salmon Creek Gracious Retirement Living. He was in an assisted living that he liked just fine, but they raised the rent. He wanted something similar and Salmon Creek is similar. He's in a studio and meals are provided. He is interested in the fact that they have exercise classes which are very important to him. Those were the most important features. I call him every day, and he's doing fine. They have laundry rooms. They provide the linens. There's an elevator, which he needs because he uses a walker. Three meals a day and snacks are available also during the day. They have an exercise facility. They have tons of things they do with the residents and they take people places. They also have transportation to medical appointments. There are food choices and there's a good variety. Cleanliness and upkeep are good. It's a very nice atmosphere and very friendly. I mostly had contact with the marketing guy, and then a few people when I ate a meal there, and they seemed very cordial and pleasant. I had one meal there when I was touring the place. Whatever food I had was better than the other place he was at."

"We're seriously thinking about Heatherwood. I liked it because it was newly remodeled, and no one had lived in it. It was a very clean place with all the remodeling going on. Their menu was very selective. The staff seemed super friendly. Everything was very clean. They were friendly. They presented us with a meal. They didn't know that we hadn't eaten, so we just got what the residents had left over. It was very tasty. The manager was super informative. She answered all the questions very honestly. She introduced us to a couple of other people, and they seemed really friendly too. She was super good, super friendly, and super informative."

"Revel Eagle was the first place we visited when we didn't know the significant difference between independent and assisted. It is very open and new. It is the best place that we visited for amenities; however, we need the assisted living feature. The staff members are very professional, very kind, and very easy to interact and talk with. Probably the best amenities we saw were the salon, the fitness room, the movie room, and the café-bar/bistro type of facility."

"We toured Brookdale Boise Parkcenter Independent Living and the experience was very good. We're very impressed, the staff was very friendly, very efficient, and thorough. I liked the place. We looked at a cottage, it was very nice, and it was bigger than I expected. I believe it will accommodate our furniture and it's very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and very attentive, they knew what they were doing. We were able to have dinner there, and we also participated in one of their happy hours. Everyone was extremely friendly, so we felt very comfortable and welcome. The food was very good, and they have quite a variety of food. The facility was very clean and well-maintained, it was nice. There was no water damage anywhere, there was no dirt, and it was very clean."

"We toured. The lady who met with us, she took us in and showed us around, and she was very nice and welcoming, but it was an older facility, and some things weren't quite as nice as the newer place. We were given a calendar that showed the different things they do each day. There were people playing games and playing cards. They had a lot of things like books and different places where you could just go and be by yourself or be with a friend and do something together, so it was pretty nice."

"Garden Plaza of Valley View was a very nice facility with very nice rooms. The staff was very friendly. The people were out on an activity when I was there. Their baked goods were excellent. They had a library, a beauty shop, a game room, a movie room, a place to worship, and multiple areas where people could do things. They also had all kinds of tables with puzzles on them and other games. So, they had a lot going on there, and I think there was a definite good quality of life for their residents. Everything was very pretty. It had a feeling of being in a big cabin with a dual fireplace. There was lots of seating and the place was bigger so you could walk more (there were walking paths outside)."

"Grace Assisted Living at Englefield Green was the first one I went to. The staff toured us and everything. When he was asking questions about this 88-year-old gentleman I'm trying to get into senior living, that's when he found out that he didn't have any rooms from a male. He only has a female room. The only way that he would have a room for a male was if two women left at the same time because there's two women in per a room. Other than that, everything was beautiful there. It was really nice. It was comfortable to sit there, relax, and all that. I went to the memory care, but this gentleman can't go there. They couldn't take him there. Everybody was very nice and friendly. They invited us to sit down and have coffee while we waited for the director. It was really nice. They were on time; they weren't late. Everybody seemed pleasant. I did not their food, but it really looked good. It was very tempting. They had an elegant dining room, and it was set up really nice."

"I toured Touchmark at Meadow Lake Village memory care. We had decided that would be a good place for my father. However, the nurse called me and said she didn't feel that my father's behaviors were under control and they wouldn't accept him. I worked with a young woman, and she was very pleasant, knowledgeable, very helpful, and very nice. She sent me a Thank You note yesterday as if we were going to be living there but the nurse told me they wouldn't take him. They let me check the menu, but they didn't offer me anything, which I'm sure that's because of Covid. There were food choices, and that's important to me that he has a choice in what he can eat. The facility was beautiful, clean, and very homey. Even though it was one of the most expensive, it didn't feel institutional."

"My experience with Affinity at Boise has been great. They have a wonderful maintenance group that takes care of the halls, the lights, and the grounds. They're very conscientious about everything and are acceptable to all of the people who live here. Including putting your car back away from the curb, so those of us who have to have walkers or wheelchairs can go on the sidewalk without interference from car bumpers. The staff is always helpful. Anything that you need, somebody is there to take care of it. They have little slips that you fill out. If you want the water faucet in your shower to be changed, they'll be right there to do it. You just fill out your slip. If there's anything that you need to have taken care of, like you've got backup water or whatever, somebody is there the very same day that you say anything about it. I have a one-bedroom apartment with a bathroom, washer dryer, and shower. When you walk in the door from the hallway, you're into a vinyl flooring with the kitchen and moving island that has drawers and cabinets in it that you pull up your stools and sit on. There's plenty of pantry space and cupboard space. There's only one closet, but that's OK. I needed to get rid of some stuff anyway. It's got a front room and a little deck (a metal deck). My unit faces south and so I get the sunshine all day long. I have air conditioning in the front room. In the bedroom, there is only a fan in the ceiling, but that's plenty. My apartment is maybe 500 square feet. You have a refrigerator, a stove, a dishwasher, and a microwave. So, you fix your own food. They have a lot of activities. They have a regular schedule for game nights, they have a hot tub, a swimming pool, a workout room, and a community bar area with the patio out off of the back so that you can either be indoors or outdoors. When people go away or are moving or something, they have a big gathering for everybody to come and wish them a Bon voyage. It's a big U-shaped building. I don't know how many units there are, but there are a lot. So, there's access to both stairs as well as the elevators. You have a garbage disposal on each floor, and then you have the garbage recycle downstairs where you separate everything so that you're conscientious about our environment. We have separate places to park outside or garages if you so choose to have a pay-for garage. They are very accommodating. They also have book clubs, game groups, and crafts rooms. The library is wonderfully stocked and you can go pick out any book you want. It's huge. Every floor has one library with couches and chairs, and they have a deck out upstairs on the top floor that you can go out and watch the skyline for 4th of July activities or whatever. For the price, they have all kinds of programs available where you can go through government subsidies."

"My experience with Northgate Senior Village has been wonderful. They've been very friendly and helpful, and they made my mom and dad feel very welcome. They have a two-bedroom apartment with a small kitchen and a really large living room and a back patio. There's a clubhouse, and there are meals that are brought in every day. When I was there moving my parents, they were painting birdhouses. They have a pool table, an exercise area, and a really good library. "

"I was so impressed with Grace Assisted Living at State Street. The building was just beautiful, everywhere you looked. It seemed so lively. When we arrived, the exercise class had just finished and people were milling around exiting that big room. They were meeting in little places. You could tell they were going to wait then for lunch. There was a group of four at this table and they were all close and visiting and laughing. I think there were a lot of independent living people there also. It was nice. We didn't get to see an actual room. They were occupied, but they did show us different floor plans and walked us to see different parts of the building itself. We had a great time. The staff was great. She was very friendly. She knew people by name and greeted people. Everything was exceptionally clean. It was just wonderful."

"I've been to Parkview Apartments because I have a friend there. What I liked the most was the awesome view from many of the apartments. It overlooked a beautiful park, you can also see the mountain in one direction, and the rooms were large. I understand that most of the apartments have been renovated over the years. Her second apartment wasn't as nice as the first, but the kitchen in the first one had been totally redone with granite countertop and nice cabinets. What I don't care for is the heating doesn't seem to work very well. My friend's room was always cold in the winter, and part of that could be due to larger rooms than average. Hers was a 3-bedroom, 2-bath, but I was looking for just 1, or 2 bedrooms at the most. She really liked it there."
