My stepmom moved to Arbor Village at Hillcrest. It's a nice community and affordable. It's an older building, so the structure itself is older and kind of dated-looking, but as far as the community itself, the activities and the community relations director were just wonderful to work with. The staff has been great. When the residents have a request, they respond immediately and take care of their needs. My stepmom said the food was okay. They serve mashed potatoes at every meal, and she doesn't like that because she doesn't want to gain weight. The rooms are very spacious. They have a lot of storage, and that was one of the deciding factors for her. She loves the activities. She goes every day at 11:00 to their exercise class and loves it. What they charge is very comparable, and I think it's adequate for the community.

My friend is a resident of Arbor Village at Hillcrest. It's not a good place. Flooding is bad. She had a toilet that didn't work for a long time. It's just dirty looking. There's a lot of things but I don't want to go into it. I would not recommend that to anybody. Their housekeeping is very poor. They don't even come in and take her dishes away and often don't dump trash. They don't keep her room clean and don't change her sheets; my friend can't do it. They have activities but she does a few of those. They have Bingo, happy hour on Fridays, and other stuff. But I would not want to live there if I had to. They offered my friend a studio, which she was supposed to have within a month after she'd moved there. They only offered it after almost a year and under threat of going to another community. She does not like the hassle of moving and they offered her a good deal at the same price, so she stayed. She likes most of the staff, but they just don't do much for her. They're in charge of her meds and sometimes they run out and they can't get them for 3 or 4 days and that's not good. They also haven't made any improvements. They have a doctor, but all they do is take temperature and blood pressure. I'm going to get her hooked up with a primary physician outside of there, where there they'll take blood tests and give her what she needs. I would not recommend the Arbor at Hillcrest, I wouldn't want to live there.
