"I'm very well pleased with Heron Place. The staff is very good, very open and very friendly and they do their work. It's a small group, which I like. There's not a whole lot of people there. They have a courtyard in the middle of the apartments, which is well kept. They check on my sister. Sometimes they're a little slow in getting her physical needs met, but I understand that the staff is kind of low right now. They need more staff members. My sister said the food is pretty good, and she likes it. I ask her every day what she has to eat. She is limited in what she can do because she has macular degeneration, so she doesn't do a whole lot with the activities. She plays bingo a little bit and hangman, and she goes and listens if there are special groups. There was a couple of ladies that came and sang and she went down and listened to them. She enjoys the church service that they have Sunday mornings when they have it. The layout of her room is very good. It's open, so she can get around in her wheelchair well. She's pleased with it. I like the staff. They're very friendly. I think she gets the care that she needs most of the time."

"My father has moved into Truewood by Merrill, Boise. He's only been there like two weeks, but so far it's been really good. The staff is super friendly. They all reached out the first day we took him in in the morning. He went into the dining room and each of the staff combined introduced themselves and made a point to say 'hi' to him throughout the day while we were going around visiting the different parts of the facility. I like it. I think it's a good place to be. My father has his own self-contained apartment, so he can come and go as he pleases. They have mealtimes down in the dining room. It's more restaurant style than cafeteria style, which I like. He likes that because then he can choose who he gets to sit by. He's starting to make friends already and just kind of fitting in. The apartment my father is in is a studio apartment. It has a little kitchenette in it. We had to furnish it, so we were able to bring in his bed, a couple of recliners for him, a TV, and some personal things from home, which has made it nice because then it feels more like home to him. So that's been a plus. With regards to activities, we haven't experienced a whole lot of that yet because my father hasn't decided to go out and about. But when we were talking to them, they gave them a monthly schedule of their activities. On Friday, they have outings to different stores every week, they have bingo during the week, they have crafts and exercises, and they do movie matinees. They have a couple of people come on different days of the week and they'll come and play music. Residents can come to sit down and have like a little light snack and a drink and enjoy the music from a piano player, a guitarist, and a couple of people singing. So that's what we've noticed so far."

"Our parents are both in the Memory Care Unit. The staff that works for Overland are caring, compassionate, observe detail and love our parents well. Today my sister and I needed to take mom to get her eye glasses adjusted. Debra from the day shift was passing by and saw that we were struggling to get mom in the car. She was scared. Debra offered to help, got into the car and helped lift mom up. She gave us some pointers. We were & are grateful for her continued kindness. Jan, Ewsay, Shanna, Christine, the Bosnia women, Tina, Sarah, Emily and the activities folks, and all three shifts are great ladies and give of their heart and serve well. Grateful, also, for the Memory Care unit's R.N, Katie. She affirms, instructs and makes you laugh when it is hard to do so. Thank you, ladies!!"

"My stepmom moved to Arbor Village at Hillcrest. It's a nice community and affordable. It's an older building, so the structure itself is older and kind of dated-looking, but as far as the community itself, the activities and the community relations director were just wonderful to work with. The staff has been great. When the residents have a request, they respond immediately and take care of their needs. My stepmom said the food was okay. They serve mashed potatoes at every meal, and she doesn't like that because she doesn't want to gain weight. The rooms are very spacious. They have a lot of storage, and that was one of the deciding factors for her. She loves the activities. She goes every day at 11:00 to their exercise class and loves it. What they charge is very comparable, and I think it's adequate for the community."

"Wynwood was okay. It was clean and well kept. Everybody seemed nice and friendly. The rooms seemed a small but the dining room seemed reasonably. The residents looked like they were in good condition and they had a reasonable activities schedule. "

"Brookdale Ontario is where my mom and my dad have been living for almost a year and a half now. They're in the assisted living part. My dad has been my mom's caregiver for the last 10 years. I would recommend Brookdale. It's a very, very good place. I like the facility the best. It is more homey and super clean. It feels like a real home. They got a very nice apartment there. Of course, the staff is amazing. The staff is caring and wonderful people. They're very caring and very competent. They have been very helpful with getting resources and helping my parents with their medical needs and their daily living needs. They have done everything. I've eaten there before with my parents. My parents gained 20 pounds the first year they were there, so that tells you the food is pretty good. They've had to try to lose weight. They are also constantly keeping the community beautiful, painting the outside, and beautifying the inside. There's a beautiful rose garden. There is a big fireplace, and it looks like you're in a mountain lodge. It's very beautiful on the inside. They have an activities director that takes people out shopping at the stores, they have a big van, and they have daily activities every single day. My parents' apartment has a small refrigerator. We went ahead and bought a little microwave for their room, but they eat most of their meals and snacks in the dining room, so the refrigerator is kind of to keep some drinks cold."

"We toured Meadow View Assisted living and Memory Care. They didn't have beds in the memory care, so it was not going to be an option for us. The memory care facility was very homey, and I liked it. The person who accommodated me was very nice. I would love to place my parent there if they had a room available, even though the distance is far for us."

"We were very happy with The Cottages of Emmett. The staff and the whole place was wonderful. It had a doctor on staff and provided three meals a day, which you could eat in the dining room or served in your room. It had an Activities Director to keep the residents busy and a van that would take you to whatever appointment you had. The residents can have snacks in between meals or late at night. They had satellite TV. "

"We actually visited several and decided on Spring Creek Eagle Island. It is a little different than some of the others I have visited; it is a little more individualized. They have their own little garage and their own washing and drying facilities in their apartment. That was huge because my mom has dementia, and it is hard for her to walk along the hallway with her stuff to wash and dry them and then get it back. So that was probably the biggest thing. It is brand new, so it looks wonderful. It is independent where she is right now, but they are building an assisted facility right on the same ground should she need that in the future because I was a little hesitant because it is full-blown independent, but now that I know this would be an option, I felt much more comfortable. We talked to two of their people, and they were both wonderful. They showed us around the facility and went ahead and took our deposit, but said, "You know what? Just let us know when you are ready. Rent will not start until you are ready to move in" which was a real relief. They really seem to understand where we were and what we were looking for. "

"My mother, Marilyn, has been a resident of The Cottages since February, 2016. Though she was reluctant to go into assisted living in the beginning, The Cottages has become her home and it has given our family peace of mind in knowing that our mother is in such a caring and warm environment. She has developed numerous friendships and is an active participant in activities, despite her hearing loss. And we can't say enough about the administrative staff and her caregivers. She loves them and so do we. They even facilitate Zoom meetings for us so we, her 5 daughters, can visit with our mom during the current visitation limitation imposed by the Covid-19 virus. 5 STARS all around for The Cottages in Middleton. -Teri"

"At Paramount Parks Assisted Living Center, I found a lot that I liked about their facility. I went there to visit a few of the elderly people there and loved how the staff members were so friendly and welcoming to both the guests and to me. There is a game room, an open kitchen area, and much more. The rooms for the residents are quite nice as well; lots of space and a window to look out of (from what I saw anyway). The staff members were very responsible and caring to the residents when I went, which helped make the atmosphere calming and serene. There are large televisions for the residents to watch in the main lounging area and bathrooms in each resident's room. The residents all seemed very happy and seemed to enjoy their time there. It was an overall pleasant assisted living center; not at all gloomy like a couple I have seen in the past. "

"What we loved about Edgewood Spring Creek - Eagle was that the staff was just wonderful. The director was so knowledgeable and very caring. They don't have a turnover in the staffing. The director had been there 13 years and that makes the difference. That's what I was attracted to with this place. It's a smaller place. They only had 32 residents, so it was nice. It was excellent. What stood out was the staff and the longevity of the staff. The activity director had been there forever and she had this wonderful party going when we got there and we surprised them. We didn't let them know we were there. I talked to some of the residents and they had a lot of wonderful things to say. It's very cheery and bright. We were going to switch mom to there, but she refused to move. The studio apartment was clean, bright, painted, and had a nice carpet. It was nice and close to the dining room. According to the residents, the food was good. They brought in emotional support dogs that worked with the residents there. That was kind of a nice thing, too. I was impressed. It's a lot older than what we were used to, but it was a very nice place. I would have liked to have tried it. I liked the fact that it was smaller."
