"The lady who showed us around Sullivan Park Assisted Living Community was very well-versed. She was very informative and gave us some very, very helpful pointers as to what to look for in any home. She was just sharp. When she showed us through, she gave us some good ideas about what needed to be done and gave us a good time reference on how far ahead you need to plan your move. She was very, very good. The facility itself was very clean, friendly, and open. It seems to have the activities we requested, the transportation, and everything. They had a beauty salon and a beautiful back lawn with paving."

"Very professional staff. A very comfy place to live for medium-risk patients. It's nicely located about 5 minutes away from several grocery stores, yet also isn't in a high traffic area. The staff were trained to help people do basic things such as wash, use the toilet, and eat. Their rooms were also quite comfortable, with an electric reclining chair, a TV with cable, a comfortable bed, and a very large cabinet with a refrigerator for foods. A good choice for anyone, certainly better than some of the other homes I've been to in the Spokane area. "

"Avista Spokane was spacious. The rooms were very nice. I met with the social director there and she was very nice and very helpful. She followed up with me even though we had to move beyond. They had a nice outdoor setting courtyard."

"The tour I had at North Star Retirement Community was fantastic. I liked the pricing, I liked that they had 3 meals a day, and I liked that they accepted service dogs. I liked the place all together. It was nice. The apartment looked very good for a single man. The place was extremely clean. If I was going to go to a retirement community, it would be this facility. The location was perfect, and everything was perfect. I saw the residents playing cards and socializing. The gym was great, and the dining room was fantastic. The downstairs area, the lobby and the lounge room, were just fantastic. There was a piano, a TV, and everything you could think of. They had a bus. I felt comfortable there. I felt like part of it and I felt like this was the place."

"Mom moved to Honeysuckle Senior Living. The director there, Ryan, is unbelievable. He is awesome. He is super caring, and they are super accommodating. They listened to my mom and all of her questions because she had many of them. The overall care that they were providing them in that place was awesome. Mom's room is fantastic. The size of it is great. If she needs something, she will just press the button, and the nurse comes. So, that's good. Mom could be pretty picky about food, but the chef there makes pretty good food. I was told that they make most of their stuff from scratch,and that was nice. They also have a lot of activities to choose from, and my mom is not obligated to do any of these things. They have a salon onsite and a whole myriad of things. The staff is excellent. They are super accommodating, super friendly, and patient with Mom. The facility is clean. Their activities are good."

"I loved Brookdale Coeur d'Alene. My cousin would have been in assisted living, which is what I loved about that place. You couldn't say, 'Oh, they're assisted living or they're independent' because they were all mixed in together. They have this amazing veterans group that meets every Friday, which would have been ideal for my cousin. All the people were just visiting and chatting, I was very, very impressed with this place, and the cleanliness, they were on top of it. The room was small, but I think it was a decent-sized room about what my cousin has now, it just didn't have as big a closet. I thought it was a very nice-sized room. It had little appliances that my cousin could have his own drinks in his fridge or whatever, and it was just a small fridge. We talked with the sales gal and asked lots of questions, and she answered them well. It just made me want to stay there. They were all interacting with the people living there and with each other respectfully and kindly. They treated us that way, too, so I was impressed with the staff. The people seemed clean and that's another nice thing. "

"I visited for my son. The people that worked there were great. I only met two of the staff, and they were wonderful. The place was really nice, very clean and modern. There was nobody in the cottages that we looked at, so they were really not furnished yet."

"Alderwood Manor is easy to get around and the people are very helpful. I'm happy with the service that Mom is getting. They do bingo and they have daily activities. She's happy with the food. They have a nice selection and the dining area is fine."

"I toured Maplewood Gardens and it was very nice. I liked it. The rooms were clean and nice. I saw a studio apartment where the bed was in the same room as the kitchen and everything. The staff that I met were nice. They were doing a painting class the day I was there, and it looked like it was fun. They have a bus that goes out for activities once a week."

"From the hospital, I was put to Merit Care AF and didn't realize that it was a place for people with dementia. I could talk to them, but it doesn't make sense most of the time. It was run by a bunch of Kenyan people and I couldn't talk with them either or communicate. The owner's name is Dan, and he would hire his relatives and some of them said they had no working experience. It was terrible. The food was just terrible, too. Dan had his relatives cook for them when they never cooked before. They had one fellow there that was real bad. We called him coach, he was an ex-coach in football, and he had really bad dementia, so at night he would get up and walk around and try to get outside. They would actually stack furniture in the front living room against the doors so he couldn't get out, and if there's a fire, we couldn't get out either. It was bad. It was kept clean, though. They were good at taking care of my apartment."

"My sister-in-law is at Rockwood South Hill and I go up there a lot. It's expensive to get into. You have to outlay a tremendous amount of money to be able to get in. I have a lot of friends that live there and they have private homes there. It's a beautiful community, but you have to buy in and there's a long waitlist. It's a five-star place if you can afford it. It's a luxury full service but it's for life because once you're in, you go all the way through until death. You're there forever. You never move out. The staff is very friendly. They go over and above. What I like best are the restaurants. They have different levels. They have great big 3000 square foot apartments and small ones. The atmosphere is outstanding. The layout is sprawling."

"I visited Providence Emilie Court and it was excellent. The staff is very accommodating. There’s a kind, gentle spirit there, and the people know the residents. The reason why I didn’t choose it was because my mother is less communicative than their patients, but it’s a fine place. We certainly can recommend it. It’s parked between the hospital and a street on a narrow piece of land, so there is not a lot of outside ground. It’s a quiet neighborhood. I appreciated the Catholicism; most people there are Catholics. The rooms are very nice. The meals are beautiful, much better than she’s getting where she is. I talked to a woman who had come to have lunch with her friend, and she said the food was fantastic. The atmosphere is somewhere between a business situation, but the people are homey. I went around with one of the administrators, and I noted she had off-hand conversations with different housekeepers as we made our tour. There was an attitude of respect and camaraderie, and those women that were working there were like in their 50s. I like that a lot, and they had been there a long time. I think that speaks well of the place. I did look at the calendar of activities. They had religious offerings, musical activities, games, and cards. They had a very small room for crafts and when I was there; crafts were in progress. The crafts director led it, and it seemed to be a good atmosphere. "
