Caldwell Home Care Resources

Home care services are only one of the pieces needed for seniors to gracefully age in place. There are many services and programs that are low-cost or free, that enable seniors to enjoy an independent lifestyle in the comfort of their own home, such as help with home modifications, meal delivery services, and more. Below, we’ve compiled a few of the most helpful resources in Caldwell:

Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA)

Address: 6305 W. Overland Rd, Ste. 110, Boise, Idaho 83709
Phone Number: (877) 471-2777

The MIPPA Program is operated by the Idaho Commission on Aging. For Canyon County and Caldwell, the Area 3 Senior Services Agency of the Southwest Idaho Area Agency on Aging coordinates MIPPA. The MIPPA initiative refers seniors to Medicare cost reduction programs such as the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Program, the Medicare Savings Program and the Low-Income Subsidy. Seniors who qualify are then referred to their regional or local State Health Insurance counselors, who also offer counseling for the State Health Insurance Benefits Program of Idaho.

The Caldwell Meals on Wheels program has been operating since 1975 as a nonprofit corporation that provides nutritious hot lunches at low cost to elderly residents of Caldwell who for physical, economic or psychological reasons cannot provide their own meals. This program also runs several fundraisers in the city for the sake of raising funds for senior nutrition.

ECHO of Metro Community Services

The organization provides senior residents of the city with a friendly phone chat service that offers them companionship and a regular call-in service through which the volunteers check in on a senior’s well-being.

Idaho Weatherization Assistance Program

Address: 1221 West Idaho St, Boise, ID 83702
Phone Number: (208) 459-0065

Idaho’s Weatherization Assistance Program offers free energy efficiency and weather sealing upgrades to low-income residents of the state with a preference placed on those who are elderly or in family households. Its services offer no-cost upgrades of furnaces, HVAC systems, windows and doors, insulation and water heating systems. Weatherization is available to those who qualify whether they rent or own their home. Eligibility is automatic for seniors receiving Supplemental Security Income payments. In Canyon County, seniors may apply for the program through Metro Community Services, the local weatherization partner.
