I visited this facility

I toured Avista Garden City. The people were congenial. However, when I talked to the director, who was very pleasant on the phone, she indicated she didn't feel they were sufficiently staffed to take somebody who would need a mechanical lift, even though the prior gentleman had said they could handle it. The room was very good size. The dining area was large and had a number of tables. They have space there for everybody. The place looked very well-maintained. The parking was a little sketchy. Their lot was quite full, but I was able to find a spot. They have a large, spacious front porch area. There's a pleasant sitting area and nice furniture. The residents seemed to be enjoying sitting out there. However, my wife is a smoker, and they don't have accommodation for her. The staff was very helpful, though.

I visited this facility

I toured Avista Garden City for my friend. I didn't like the size of the room. Their studio apartment was pretty small. Other than that, it's an older building, but it's been kept up. I guess they did a major remodeling just recently, but it's clean. I liked that the staff was very helpful.

Provider Response

Thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback, and hope you found a community that was a great fit for your friend!

The lady that toured us and greeted us at the Avista Garden City was the best and most helpful person of our entire tour. The entire ground was very small. That was a huge negative, so I wasn't going to stay there, but the care level was up to a level six, so it's a very high care level, which was a plus. The room was not nice. It was old and small. It had small windows, but the staff was great. The guide was the best ever. If I would rate the entire facility, that would be a four, but the room itself would be a two.

I visited this facility

We liked it and we almost put my mother-in-law there. It was very homey, it had a little patio to the room. The staff appeared to be very qualified and kind, and the residents seemed happy. They were very thorough and answered lots of questions, the employees there looked very happy. The facility was clean and updated, and it was located close to restaurants and close enough to hospitals.

I visited this facility

It was very nice, but it wasn't a good fit for my husband because it's an assisted living, not skilled nursing. The community was lovely and the people were lovely. It just wasn't the type of place that my husband needs. The staff showed me a studio and a one-bedroom. It was a waitlist for a one-bedroom, and the studio wouldn't have been appropriate for him. We had to furnish it ourselves, and it wasn't a good fit. Breakfast was included. There was a small library and a community room where they had puzzles and such games. I didn't meet any of the staff except the lady that did the tour. The building was lovely.

I visited this facility

I liked the smallness of it It was very intimate. It was during the shutdown, so we weren't able to see all of it. We were able to peek into the general areas. They kind of took us around the backway to get to one of the apartments that was available. The bedroom was the largest that we'd seen, and it was impeccably clean. I have nothing negative to say about them. If I were making a decision for myself at this point, I think that would be my top one. I really liked the outdoor setting and the raised gardens.

I visited this facility

It is my mother's favorite so far because it is a small community. It is nice, and my mother appreciates its simplicity. The staff members were very nice. The residents were also very welcoming. The food was good. The dining area was very nice.
