"Helpful and friendly staff. North Star is very clean. Great activities and great place to play Bridge . Residents are very friendly. Transportation takes me wherever I'd like to go. "

"I feel at home here at Brookdale Coeur d'Alene. I had been at another facility, and I felt like a country mouse visiting uptight city relatives. I fit here a lot better, and it's more within my budget. I am in a two-bedroom apartment. It is on the ground floor, and there is outdoor access from my apartment. It's $500 less than I was paying for a third-floor one-bedroom with no patio. I really like it here. Regarding the staff, there was a small problem with my paperwork. It is like a payment I made, and for some reason, it isn't showing up, but the executive director and I are working on it. He knows where I stand and knows where the company stands, and I'm in the right, and the company is wrong. They have bingo three times a week. They go to a thrift shop on Monday morning. Wednesday afternoon is Walmart. Then, generally, there are a few things on the weekend. They don't have as many activities as they did in the other, but they have activities, and they're not always on the calendar. The main get-together area is where the pool table is. It seems like somebody is always playing pool. The food is pretty good. In the room, we have a mini-fridge, but no stovetop to cook on. So, you have to eat at the cafeteria, except I bought a hot plate, so I eat most of my meals in my apartment. For activities, they have different card games, bingo, and dominoes. They're showing movies every so often. The place looks huge. There are three levels."

"I went and looked here. The facility was very attractive and it seemed quite nice. I would not have minded having my husband in there if they were capable of taking care of him at his level that he needed, but they aren't capable of that. I don't remember the name of the staff member, but he was very pleasant, very nice, and understanding. We found out that they could not handle someone who would be violent. As long as he was under control, they would consider taking him, but if he had one episode of being violent, they would have to remove him and I can't pass my husband around like a yo-yo, that's not good for his dementia. I wasn't there for very long. The staff member was quite nice. He was OK because he was upfront with me saying that they could not handle a violent person."

"We liked Courtyard. The staff was very friendly, and the place was very clean and very nice. It was the best place of all of them. They had four building and each one had its own dining area with a chef that oversaw all of the cooking. The rooms were lovely, and there was a spa for bathing. It was assisted living and had lots of activities, like card playing, music, and people who came in to play music or read. They took them places on a bus. "

"Colonial Court Assisted Living is 100 times better than where Mom came from. This is small and has like 50 residents. They order their food in the morning so that when they get it, it's cooked, it's fresh, and then they serve it. They try to cook healthy food, and they give medicines on time. They genuinely care about their residents there. They have a nurse five days a week. I can communicate with them about my mother's needs, and they get back to me. There's somebody there, and when they see things that crop up, they notify the family, and they will get medical attention right away. She gets her medicine on time, and they encourage them to get out, do things together, and have some socialization. They give her, her showers there. She gets her needs met. She is in a studio apartment. It's one big room with a bathroom, and it's not a full kitchen. It's just a part of a kitchen, and it has a sink, a little refrigerator, and a microwave. They put out food around 10:00 to 11:00, so they can have vegetables and fruits mid morning. In the afternoon, they put out something, too. They have a big area where they have a porch and chairs, and stuff like that. They have a library and a game room. They can go there to talk and visit. The activities can be beefed up a little bit more. Value for money is pretty average. I think what they're charging is what all the others charge. Every one of these assisted living places should be like them, have good food, and have people who care."

"I have been living at Holman Gardens independent living for a little while now. I think it's great here. They have a congenial and helpful staff and they have a lot of amenities; it's just a great place to live. My apartment is really great; I have two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a patio. I don't know what else I could want. They offer us all kinds of activities. We get dinner every day and some other occasional meals, they have rides where they take us to and from doctors appointments, and we get all kinds of bus trips, do activities, and go grocery shopping. In terms of food, I like some things, and I don't like other things, but they offer alternatives. If you don't like what's on the menu you can call them ahead of time and order something different, because they have a list of things they can make in place of the normal menu. The staff is wonderful, we get housekeeping, and if we can't make it to the dining room they bring us a meal to our rooms. Even the gardeners know our names and they're nice. If something goes wrong in the apartment, you just give them a call and they'll be out pretty quick to fix what's wrong. I just can't say enough good things about them. They work very hard to keep up with the place."

"My sister is at Orchard Crest LLC. It's very new and very comfortable. They have many of the same options that other places that I visited had. For instance, they have a little coffee stand, and they have a hairdresser that comes in. It is easy to get around. It's all just one great big square. I have yet to find a staff member or a caregiver who is not caring, very responsible, and very attentive to all of the residents. In terms of activities, they have exercises every day. Twice a day, they have activities such as batting the balloon back and forth, they have bingo games, and they have arts and crafts kinds of things that they do. There's a quite variety of different physical activities that they provide. The food is very good. They get three meals a day, and they're nutritious meals. They have vegetables, fruits, and all of that."

"My mother has moved into Evergreen Fountains. It's very nice. It's clean and fresh. They have large corridors and a little cafe in the front. They got a coffee machine out, and they do ice cream there as well. It's very nice. The staff members are very nice and very friendly. The only item that my mother would say that she finds not as good as at the place where she was previously is that they don't have very many evening activities. After dinner, they don't have movies or that sort of thing. They have a swimming pool, a fitness center, a library, and they play cards and all that sort of thing. During the day they have a lot going on, but it's just after dinner, that they have a few activities. The food is very nice. My mother likes the food. The quality is good. The dining room is nice."

"I have moved into Olympus Living of Spokane Valley. The food is terrible though. It's just awful. The facility itself looks nice, but it's not nice. They have their own little activities, and what they do have is just dumb stuff. I have a two-room apartment. I clean it myself, so it's OK. Regarding their staff, I hardly ever see them. They have bingo, but they have no prize if you win. They go bowling, but it's not fun. None of the activities are fun. I think the cost is too much of what you get."

"I'm currently in Whispering Pines. It's very good. I'm in a two-bedroom, and the layout is nice. It's a fairly small community. I've met a couple of the neighbors, even though I haven't been outside much because I have been sick. Everybody seemed to be nice and friendly. The lady who takes care of any of the issues is very responsive. She calls right back or comes out. I haven't participated in anything, but I know that they have activities over at their activity center, which is just basically across the street from me and down just a little bit. They have Pinnacle in there every Thursday or Friday. They have all sorts of different things you can sign up for. There's a little barbecue area out back if you want. It's very nice. It's set up to accommodate a lot of different activities."

"My sister-in-law is at Rockwood South Hill and I go up there a lot. It's expensive to get into. You have to outlay a tremendous amount of money to be able to get in. I have a lot of friends that live there and they have private homes there. It's a beautiful community, but you have to buy in and there's a long waitlist. It's a five-star place if you can afford it. It's a luxury full service but it's for life because once you're in, you go all the way through until death. You're there forever. You never move out. The staff is very friendly. They go over and above. What I like best are the restaurants. They have different levels. They have great big 3000 square foot apartments and small ones. The atmosphere is outstanding. The layout is sprawling."

"My father will be moving into Sapphire at Moran Vista. We chose it because of the full extent of the services provided. So it can progress all the way from independent living to assisted care to memory care. My dad's got enough for maybe four or five years, but if things go longer than that, then Medicaid would help pay for that. The room my dad will be moving into is very nice. The staff members were very nice, too. They've got a family room with a pool table and a reading area. They have a nice dining area."

"My mother is very happy in Maplewood Gardens. They have very caring staff who has been really good at working with her. She has a small dog and they've been really great with that too. She feels like she's just at home. She also loves the food and you're always able to reach someone by phone. They've been good about keeping me informed about any issues she has and it's important to me that they're easy to contact. They were also the first to have an opening so we picked them."
