"We visited North Star Retirement Community. My mother-in-law is on a waiting list, and she's already put her deposit down. We were looking at her budget and what she felt comfortable spending. That's the reason we looked at North Star. It was lovely. It was a wonderful facility. The staff was extremely caring. The tour was wonderful. There are a lot of activities for her to do and a lot of social events, giving her the freedom to interact with people her own age. It is independent living, although they offer assisted living as well. It's just right now all she needs is independent living. They had a gym, a movie theater, a courtyard, exercise classes, bingo, crossword puzzles, word searches, and social events. They also offered at least a monthly outing to go to a restaurant."

"My dad’s care has been amazing! He’s been at this facility for four years. He’s had some of the same caregivers the whole time he’s been there. The care that he receives is loving and professional at the same time. I can’t imagine him living anywhere else."

"The staff was extremelly friendly and helpful throughout the tour. I left feeling confident in their abilities to provide a safe and comfortable living environment for my grandmother. The facility is located directly next door to a large park and trails along side the city's river. The facility is also conveniently located near shopping, and other activities. "

"I moved into Rockwood Lane, and it's a lovely place. The people are just delightful, personable, caring, and overall, it's wonderful. It's home. The room is a small area, about 600 square feet, but I just love the place. There's heating in the room, and you can adjust it as well, and a lady cleans the hallway, but you have to hire someone to clean your room. They have a large, beautiful dining room, where one can pay to go eat, and there's no menu, it's whatever they serve. There's nothing really special, and unique about the room, and the whole environment makes it a wonderful place to be. They have a swimming pool, a jacuzzi, a van that does grocery runs, and a social coordinator who provides social entertainment during the month. They have an exercise room, a nurse once a week, yoga class and Tai chi class once a week, and group meetings. They play Bingo, watch movies, have a social hour, and have birthday parties once a month."

"Rockwood Retirement Community is gorgeous and beautiful. They just built a new tower that has seven new floors, and it starts with independent living. You could live in houses or apartments and it goes all the way through assisted living and Alzheimer's care if needed. We're going to move my mother-in-law this week. Everybody's been wonderful. They have great food, and the dining areas are beautiful. They have three different restaurants: formal, casual and the least casual one."

"Touchmark was an excellent facility. They were phenomenal! They spent a lot of time with us during our visit. We had lots of questions, but they were able to answer all of them. They even followed up on us. My aunt doesn't use a computer so she couldn't go online and look at their brochures. So the person who toured us actually took pictures of Touchmark and sent them to me so I can send them by mail to my aunt. They were wonderful! If I were looking for a place, I would move in there right away. They're great! What we like about Touchmark was that they have a whole range of care there. They have independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care. My aunt could start out in the retirement apartment, and if she needed assisted living, she wouldn't have to physically move. That feature was a real advantage for us. My aunt is a very devout Catholic and she wants to be within walking distance of a Catholic church so she could go and hear mass daily. This would be possible because Touchmark was only about four blocks to a Catholic church. Also they told us that if the weather was bad or she wasn't up to walking that they would call and make arrangement to take her there. "

"The staff seems very helpful, kind, and attentive. Whenever my grandparents need anything in their apartment, the staff makes sure they get it promptly. The facility is very quiet and clean. And the residents are all very kind-hearted. I always feel welcome and comfortable when I visit there. "

"We toured the Lilac Plaza Retirement Community. They were very accommodating just walking in. We didn't call for an appointment. We just stopped to get an application, and they offered us the tour. The apartments were very nice. They have two different facilities, and The Lilac Plaza was newly renovated. I was very impressed with the kitchens in them. It kind of changed my mom's mind because she was not interested at first in a studio apartment, but after seeing and touring, she was very OK with it. They offered that if we were able to get her into the studio, she can still keep her name on the list and if a one-bedroom apartment becomes available, she would still be in line to get that apartment and she would be able to move for a small fee. That was very accommodating on their part. The place was very nice. The grounds were nicely kept and the inside was clean. Everything was nice. Everybody was very helpful, even the residents. They were there to help us with questions. It was nice to be able to speak to somebody that lived there, and everybody that we spoke to enjoyed living there. It was a good experience. They have a very nice computer lab where the residents can use the computers. They showed us a nice hair salon. It was in the facility so she could make her own appointment and be able to do the appointment herself. They showed us the cafeteria. We didn't eat, but they showed us the options that she had and they have a little coffee shop, which was nice. They gave us a listing of all of the outings that they offer. They have a bus and they will take residents. If they sign up, they take them to different outings throughout the year. It was nice to have those options for her. The apartments were very nice and newly updated. All the kitchens have recently been updated. It's very nice for what the cost is. They're modern appliances and such. They have a newer apartment building and it's on the same ground. Unfortunately, they didn't have an available unit that we could tour, but they provided us with brochures with pictures of the inside of the apartments."

"I liked everything about Fairwinds - Spokane, the food, the environment. It was very clean and very comfortable. The staff was very courteous, kind, and helpful with information. They served us lunch. It was prepared by a chef and it was very good. It was excellent food. It was very clean. It was a very large facility. The one complaint would be it's a little too big for people to get from point A to point B."

"My granddaughter found it for me, and I have been here for seven months now. The staff is excellent. The room is a little on the small size, but they are not bad. Sometimes the food is really good, and sometimes it is not. We'd love to have more protein and less carbohydrate in our diets. The dining room is very nice. We have all kinds of things here; like this afternoon, we had a bunch of lady singers, and they are really good. We always have something going on. I absolutely find the place secure enough. The front door and every other door are locked by 8:00 o'clock at night. "

"Rockwood at Whitworth just opened. It's got everything, and it's brand new and spotless. I've been in there two times. It was not what I call warm and friendly. The facility is the Cadillac of the bunch. You pay $500,000 just to go in, and then you pay $7000 a month. They have a gym. We had a very nice, polite tour guide that took us around. I felt the residents to be standoffish, but one very nice lady came up and visited with us. You could get a studio, a one-bedroom, or a two-bedroom. They go from independent all the way to full care."

"We have my husband at Colonial Court Assisted Living. What I like least is the price, but that's at every place, I guess. The staff is great. Last night, I had dinner with him. We had taco salad, and he had scampi. It's a big variety of different foods, and they have a choice of two entrees. They have a menu. It's very clean. They have card games, they have TV, and they have trips out once a month. He has a pretty good- sized room right now."

"My mom had several friends at Holman Gardens Retirement before she moved in, and for a decade or longer, she'd been going there for her water aerobics class. There are all kinds of aerobics classes. There's gardening; there are massage classes; there are computer classes. The list goes on. It was close to home, and it was close to where I live. It was affordable, and she could have pets and a garden. If my mom were not happy there, she would move. That includes the meals, the service, the size of her apartment, the rate, the rent, what the rent includes, the pool, the garden. If any of that stuff was undesirable or less attractive to her, she would consider relocating. "
