My husband is in a rehab facility at Virginia Beach Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. I would say it's first-class care. The staff is very responsive and quite caring about the patients there. Their facility was very clean and very well-kept. Any issues were addressed immediately. They had a cafeteria where they had open seating. Unfortunately, it was not available during our stay. They do have a gym, which the patients do go to with their counselors. They have counselors to complete their rehab exercises. They had a very pretty lobby where you could sit and wait. Their check-in process was quite easy. I like the staff member's responsiveness, ability to answer questions, and ability to provide whatever services were needed at the time. Spice-wise, your food was not spiced. You were provided with salt and pepper. But the dishes themselves were varied, not complex, but enough to meet the community's requirements. They have a lot of things going on for the residents. They have bingo games.

I was a patient there for 1 week. It was the worst week of my life. I went there for rehab after knee replacement surgery on 4/18/2022. Now the rehab, och/therapy and sp/therapy were great. But the staff was unfriendly, rude and uncaring. Saturday night around 2:00 am I rang my call bell for help. After waiting 45 min. I rolled myself down to the nurse's station and found about 5 or 6 nurses/nursing asst. just standing around talking and laughing. Pain medication was withheld from me at times. I spoke to the assistant Administrator 2 or 3 times but nothing was done. Also, for the food, just awful. Please don't go there or put your love one in there! I really feel sorry for the ones that can't speak up for themselves.

I've been in Virginia Beach Healthcare. It's fair. They couldn't do my rehab because of my insurance. If they had continued with my rehab, I am sure I would have been in a lot better shape than I am now. It's very frustrating. We've got two patients in a room, and this is for long-term care. This is not where I wanted to be. I wanted to have my own place, or a large room where I can put some of my own belongings. Recently, a new company took over the place, and the food has not been very good. It's been kind of crappy. Basically, I'm in my room. I read a lot, I pray a lot, and that's another thing that got me real angry when I first moved in here. EWTN is my TV station of choice because it's a Catholic, the Catholic network, and it's twenty four hours a day, and several weeks ago they switched from I'm not sure what company we were with into another company that does not carry EWTN. They didn't bother to survey the patients to see what kind of TV stations they liked or wanted to see.

I stayed at VA Beach Healthcare and Rehab for about a month. The layout was very nice and the general appearance was also very nice. The staff was quite good and did a very nice job. The food was good and I enjoyed it. They offer Bingo, they hadvea fitness spa and salon, and they had a card room.

My mother was sent to this facility after contracting pneumonia and hospital stay. She was very weak. There was no doctor to talk to. The nurses didn't seem to know any history. No one gave the same answer to a question. Ultimately my mother went to the ER and passed away after contracting the flu at this facility. I would not recommend sending anyone here.

I spent the better part of two weeks visiting with my mother in this facility. I found the nurses, physical therapists, business and food and beverage personnel to be top notch. They were caring and upbeat and generous with their time. The effect of the care and attention they provided was evident on the faces of their clients, from both, a visiting standpoint and inpatient. I had been to this facility under different management years before, when it was not run so well; I am happy to say that the difference between then (2004) and now is like night and day! I highly recommend VaBch Healthcare and Rehab for you and your loved ones!

Both of my parents are currently living at VBHRC. The staff on the Rehab Unit are attentive and caring, came when called, provided more services than I expected. The PT staff are diligent and patient The facility was clean and the cleaning staff was always present on the unit. Meals look and taste appetizing, and served hot. My Mother is now on the Healthcare Unit soon to be joined by my Dad who is in the Rehab Unit. I personally have nothing bad to say about the care which they received while I was there.

This place is the worst place ever. The nurses are nowhere to be found and they do not give any care to their patients. When you call for a nurse no one comes to help you. Then the nurses yell at you. The staff is very rude to you and your family members. The whole place is very noise and the patients are unable to get any peace and quiet. This is no place for someone who is terminally ill. Also, no one ever answers the phone in that place. There are no phones in the rooms and there is no way to communicate with the patients. This place needs a whole new staff and a lot of upgrades. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Do not send your love ones to the dump.

My mother was a patient at this facility. The State found VBHC was negligent in caring for my mother when they failed to follow-up on her vitals - yes, my mother died at this facility. She also contracted C-Diff (Clostridium difficile) resulting in dehydration and malnutrition. They did not have enough staff to support someone feeding her. I saw many yellow and red signs on patient doors indicting infectious room requiring visitor protection garments. I spend many hours and days here and what I saw and experienced is something I do not want any other family to experience. Thank you for posting as although the review is negative, I believe people want to know.

As the daughter of a current (but soon former) Virginia Wellness & Rehabilitation Center patient, I spent approximately 200 hours at this facility. Our mother was cared for inside of the center’s Section 4. During her stay, we found the staff listened to our concerns and followed through with any commitments they made regarding our mother’s care. I noted that at all times the staff was encouraging, noticed those around them, smiled, and practiced courtesy and kindness. Our requests for information always resulted in timely answers with solid explanations. The physical, occupational and speech offered our mother was top notch. I am pleased to say she now is able to stand up, walk, and, in general, take care of the necessities of life. Watching her stand from the wheelchair and get into my vehicle with NO assistance was something I did not expect. She had not been able to do that in over 5 years. The staff and administration have the best interests of the patients at heart. Family members of the patients are treated with respect. The personal hygiene of patients was cared for at all times. Meals arrived as scheduled and activities were available for those interested. Visitors are allowed at any time. I witnessed many situations that if not handled properly would have had an unfavorable outcome. The nurses, aids, therapists, supervisors and all the rest of the staff handled each incident with care and understanding. I even saw a patient hitting a nurse while she remained perfectly calm. At the same time, the patient was bellowing racial slurs. The nurse handled the incident with grace and compassion. She clearly realized the patient was not capable of other behavior. My mother was a patient at another rehab center a couple of years ago. The care she received at Virginia Wellness & Rehabilitation Center was 100% better than the other facility. I never noticed any abundance of state officials or others. I did see the state and city workers who were from Adult Protective Services. Those folks are there for the benefit of patients who were in danger BEFORE they entered the rehab center. That has nothing to do with the rehabilitation center’s performance. They made our mother’s life better and worked quite hard to do so. I would gladly accept placement for any of our family members, if needed, inside of this facility and under the care of their staff.
