My mother is staying at The Arbors Independent Living. The facility is nice, bright, and cheery. She's got a nice little apartment with lots of sun. They will bring her food to her room if she wants it, but it's for a small charge. She walks with a walker, but she can't walk too far, so they've done that for her, and probably for other people there, too. The staff is nice. I like the staff. They'll take the residents out to different places for activities. They have people come in for different things. They have bingo, puzzle rooms, and a library. Sometimes the food is good, and sometimes it's okay. It sort of depends on what you get. I wouldn't say it's the best in the world. The staff members are good to my mom.

We toured The Arbors Independent Living. It was a very nice facility. There were a lot of things that we liked about it. The rooms were a good size and a nice location. They do have the meal situation, but it was something like I think it was 30 meals a month were included. Then you just decided how you wanted to do those. I think whatever the meal plan was, it was certainly something that we knew would work. They didn't require a reservation, so that was good. They have 24/7 security, which is nice. The unit that we looked at was in her price range and was too far away from the elevator, and we knew that she would end up just never leaving her room. There was one that was closer, but it was going to be outside of her budget.

We visited The Arbors at Port Warwick. It was a great location and it's where my dad would have wanted to be. He felt like there was everything there that he needed, the people were wonderful, and the grounds were beautiful. It's just that there were a couple of things they didn't include that some other places did like cable. My dad also felt that they were a little more expensive than when he had previously checked them. He's interested in their independent living so that's what we looked at. He is not at a point yet where he needs assistance. The person who showed us around did a wonderful job. She's just very professional, knew the facility well, and she told us about things that he was interested in. It was a great, great experience.

I liked The Arbors at Port Warwick. They were very nice. I wouldn't mind living there. It was very pleasant and I liked the idea that you don't have to pay a great big upfront fee. Their rooms looked very nice. The whole place was pleasant. If I had to go somewhere, I could go there easily. The lady who did the tour was nice, very pleasant, very thorough, answered all my questions, and showed me everything I wanted to see. It's got several floors, so you get on an elevator to go up then come down. I wouldn't care much about that, but I liked the fact that it was across the street from a little park where they have music and stuff. You can either go over there or you can just raise your window and listen to the music. They had a nice library, too.

An organization I belong to has meetings here. We've had breakfast and lunch meetings. The food is terrific. We have taken tours of the apartments. Love the apartments, full kitchens. The amenities are terrific. all utilities are included except phone and cable. They have transportation to take them to shows, shopping, medical appts. Lots of activities. The staff including the manager are very nice and caring. I would love to live here and have told my family at some point I'd love to be here.

Our visits at The Arbors at Port Warwick were very positive. They had good coffee and good meals. They had good rooms and activities for the residents. We see people together in the common rooms and activity rooms. They had a nice library and billiards table, people were using that, and we saw people putting jigsaw puzzles together. They took people to the Fergusson Center for concerts and things like that. The main thing that attracted us was the location, right across the street from a large park weve been going to the for concert square, art centers and restaurants in there. It was all just a block away. I met the front desk woman, another woman who gave us the tour, and the dining staff, who were all very good. The place itself was very clean.

You can eat anything you want all day long at the Arbors at Port Warwick, there are no set eating times, and the menu also changes daily. They will also take you anywhere you want at anytime. The other places I looked at will only take you twice a week to the doctor, and they had set eating times where everyone had to sit down at around the same time; that is not going to play for adults. So those are the 2 kickers why we chose this place. For me, it is beautiful, the meals are good, and my folks are happy. Everything is clean and safe. They even have done the laundry for them. They would do anything for you, but the big kickers are transportation and the meal that is available at anytime. My parents have been there since Thursday and are moving into their permanent apartment tomorrow. My folks are loving them, and my father -- who’s got a measure of dementia -- has already commented repeatedly about how good they are. They are extremely accommodating. My mom and dad were used to eating something for breakfast, so they went down one day for breakfast and asked if they could have it. They said you sure can and made it for them. None of the other places will do that, but very small set menu and set eating times, and if you missed the eating time you were out of lack.

I live up the street from The Arbors at Port Warwick. I visited someone there plus I’ve gone there for meetings. It’s a high end place. It’s a very nice facility, and it’s not cheap either. The living and the location is very nice. They have many things for people to do. They have a nice workout facility. They have dinners, lunches, and a place for people to come and visit for lunch. They also have a bus that takes them to different places. It’s right in the center of everything. They can go shopping right in there.

The Arbors was more money that I wanted to spend, but it was very, very nice because that's a very expensive area. The staff was very, very pleasant and very helpful. They have a dining room, and that's one of the things I didn't like about it. I tend to make something and eat it for the next 4 days. I am diabetic, so I eat 4 or 5 meals a day. I didn't like the central dining room concept. It didn't work for me. They had real nice activities. They had bingo; they had pool. They had all kinds of stuff. They had a book club. I like that they allow pets because I have my dog, and secondly, I like the idea that they have flexible meals. You can actually go down at 11 o'clock at night and get a snack.
