"We used Amedisys Home Health Of Newport News' services for my mom. We had bath care and occupational and physical therapists. They were great, personable, professional, had good work ethics, and provided us with whatever they submitted to their supervisors so that we were all on the same page. They were great people."

"They have been excellent and reliable. Their staff is dependable. We have been using them since February 2011. We're going on our third year with them. I'm happy with their care for my mom. My mom already created a bond with the ladies who come over to help her. "

"Let me start with my disclaimer: I've never used any service provided by Allstar Healthcare nor will i ever use any said service. My initial phone call was more than enough to steer my away from this company! A wildly unprofessional receptionist that mocks you while she's on the phone is how your greeted. This of course is accompanied by mass quantities of attitude and a general unhelpful sentiment. "

"Bon Secours got along really well with my dad. After they came to the house and did an interview, my dad decided that he wanted them. They seem to be doing a pretty good job, and my dad's happy with them. We had to find the patient's Bill of Rights, and everything they've done has followed in line with it. Scheduling is pretty easy; they just tell us when they're coming by. As far as billing goes, it's all covered by Social Security. "

"My dad was discharged from the hospital on a Saturday and someone came out that same day to see him and meet with our family. Most of the other agencies I called would not meet us over the weekend. The aid they sent was warm and caring and my dad just loves her. Everyone that has been out is very professional. "

"In my experience with this company, they are about the average, run of the mill senior care company. Nothing in particular is bad and also nothing is anything to write home about. The caregivers themselves differ greatly as far as experience and tolerance as to what they are willing to do. For example, some caregivers will sit down and talk with you and play games and be great company with you. On the other hand, some will act as if they are afraid of you and they are quite stand-offish. Then, of course some are more courteous than others are. Some will go right into your fridge and help themselves to a drink and others you have to beg to even have a drink of water in your home. So it all varies greatly from person to person. I feel I almost got what I wanted, but it wasn't perfection. I feel the company could provide a few more pointers for the caregivers and just make sure each one is a good match for the senior they are working with just to keep things easy-flowing. "

"For more than three years, Bayada provided home health care aides to assist my mother, who had mobility challenges and dementia. Services included meal preparation, light housekeeping, and bathing, dressing, and grooming Mom. With few exceptions, the aides were prompt, professional, friendly, and efficient.Several caregivers went to great lengths to engage Mom in games and activities, which she thoroughly enjoyed. When Mom could no longer participate, aides would simply sit with her and hold her hand, which kept her calm. Bayada's administrative staff were a pleasure to work with and quickly responded to our requests. I was especially grateful for their ability to increase caregiving services from eight to 24 hours per day, on very short notice when my mother began a rapid decline.During this time, I was often overwhelmed by the care and compassion my entire family received. This was truly a community working together to make a 98-year old woman comfortable in her final days. Although it's been six weeks since my mother passed away, I am still in touch with the aide who cared for her the longest, and we consider her to be a part of our extended family. "

"Westminster Canterbury At Home provides hospice care for my mom. Absolutely love our hospice provider, they're fantastic. Everyone's been kind, passionate, and professional. If we have questions, they address them quickly and thoroughly. If we have needs that are after hours, someone is very good at getting back to us, and either helping us or coming out to see us, so they've been fantastic. In fact, that's the only hospice that's allowed in the other community, which is another great reason to have them, because that's where Daddy is, and he is on hospice. They can give us updates on his well-being because we use the only hospice that they allow, so they can call me and let me know how he's doing. My dad is on hospice for congestive heart failure and my mom is on hospice for cancer. They're wonderful."

"Bright Star has provided me with excellent care and help in all rhe things I cannot do or find difficult to do by myslf. All aides assigned to me have been good but I have had Diane Hood for about a year and she has bee wonderful. She always arrives on time--not too early or too late. She arrives ready to work asking me what I need to do first. She looks for things to do and has never turned me down about anything I have asked--and I have asked for many somewhat off the all requests. She is a good companion and conversationalist. I could not do bettr!"

"My father was in the hospital for five days, and then, the hospital gave us a list of providers. Comfort Care is owned and operated by Chesapeake General, and because I was happy with Chesapeake General, I went with Comfort Care. We have a nurse come out a couple of times a week. We also have a physical therapists two to three times per week. We also have somebody in the daytime a couple of times a week, so we are very happy. They do a great job, and they are very caring. I feel that they are really invested in my father's well-being. They communicate and work very well with us. "
