My friend is moving into The Barclay at Charlottesville. I went there and I liked it. My friend liked it too. The people who were there seemed to be able to accommodate all his needs. It fell in very perfectly. What I like is just the place felt very well attended, very clean, very lush, and very high-end. When you walk in, you feel like you're in a five-star hotel. His room has nice floors and window trim. It felt like it was high-class. When I looked at the menu and tried to get a sense of the quality of their food, I said, "I would come here and eat with my friend." A lot of other places, I don't know if I would feel the same way. I didn't try anything, but I just saw other people have it. My friend could go to their bistro bar or something, so that was great. He could get a turkey sandwich or a grilled cheese whenever he wanted. If he was hungry, he could get snack bars, protein bars, and stuff like that. They offer three meals a day, and there are plenty of choices. It was on a pre-printed high-end menu where you could actually see pictures of the food. I know that's not always the same as the food itself, but it seems like this place wasn't messing around with the food.

I toured. The apartment's pretty small. They serve two meals a day. They have lounges. It's a sort of typical higher-end retirement place. They have a courtyard and common spaces. They have a cafe-type and a bar-type area, which I think you can use if you want to have a get-together. They have an activity room. They had a saltwater heated pool and a movie theater room. They have a fair number of amenities.

It was the one we liked the most out of all the places we toured for my dad. It felt open, airy, clean, and fresh. The staff who assisted us was very friendly and knowledgeable. It was located near a Target store.

Dad moved and it's been a good experience. It's only been 4 days since he's there, but the nurses put a lot of care into it. The facility is very clean and very modern. He's only had two meals so far, but he said it's good. There's a good amount of activities that he could do, too.

I did a tour. The amenities were amazing, and the decor was above and beyond. I liked everything about it. The staff were nice; they did well at listening and understanding why I was there. They were great. They have a nightly happy hour, and a breakfast bar, like the cafe where they can come and get whatever they like. One of the main amenities that would interest me was the housekeeping once a week, because I feel like my godmother needs that. Their staff were very knowledgeable. I didn't have a meal there, but the menu looked great.

It is a relatively new location. It was constructed only a year ago, so it is in pristine shape. It has more variety in terms of the room selection. They have two-bedrooms, one-bedrooms, and/or studios. There is quite a bit more variety in terms of what options you have. The facility itself is in great shape. It is not conveniently located in town, but it is certainly a very nicely appointed facility. The staff was very knowledgeable, very personable, and was able to answer all my questions. She gave me a complete tour of the facility. I didn't have the food, but I got a chance to look at all the meeting rooms, the amenities, and the pool. She was very, very helpful in that regard.

We're working on moving our mom here because it checks all the boxes. I thought that the staff there were very friendly and helpful. The individual apartment's layout was fine and the size was adequate. They had a pianist and singer, and by the time my tour was over, about 20 residents were watching them. It looked like they were enjoying themselves and it was good to see that. They showed me the dining area, and one of the things we particularly liked was that they separate the assisted care dining room from the regular dining room. My mother will eat foods she's not supposed to eat because she's diabetic, and they'll make sure that that doesn't happen by separating the diners.

My mother moved in. She's doing great. It has been nothing short of wonderful. The staff is incredible. The facility, which is brand new, is beautiful. I could not have asked to find a better place for my mother's transition out of Florida into Virginia. It's been fabulous. It's a place I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place for somebody who needs additional care (or not). There's independent living, assisted living, and memory care there. The food is delicious, there's large variety, and they will custom change anything that's on the menu. They serve from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., anything you want, at any time you want it, between those 12 hours. If you go in at 6:00 and you decide you want breakfast at 6:00 at night, you can have it. The food is first rate. The chef is amazing. Everything is fresh and it's healthy. There's a really big variety in their menu. The day after she moved in, they had a get together of all the new residents where they served some hors d'oeuvres and cocktails and had a live piano bar. They have an indoor swimming pool, therapy if you need physical therapy, and a game room, which my mother likes. They have a library and a beauty parlor. It is a fabulous place. They are extremely competitive with everything else around Charlottesville. I gave them a deposit the day that I saw it.
