"I visited this assisted living unannounced. The staff were wonderful, very friendly and informative. The place is newly refurbished and is spotless. The staff introduced me to resident, who each said great things about their home. Robin the administrator has worked their for 20 years and has a very soothing soul. She clearly has a passion for resident care. We will be moving my mother in here soon. The most homely one we visited and it has all levels f care. "

"I came in for a visit. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. I was toured the Memory Care unit. The staff were engaging with the residents. I was instantly greeted by the Memory Care Director. The entire building smelt amazing. The dining room looked amazing. Over all the entire building was AMAZING. Their Facebook posts are so detailed and only show half of what this amazing building does on a daily basics. I definitely for see my loved one being moved here in the future. "

"My mother-in-law had stayed in the assisted living at The Lodge for a year. We chose it because it was a new center and it was in our town. It was clean, spacious and had a high ratio of caregivers to clients. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The food was extraordinary. I liked that it was like a community with three levels of cares. It had everything you needed. It had arts, movies, theater. They brought in people from the UVA that were working on research with yoga and dementia. They had all the games, arts and crafts, and there were people who came in just to talk to them. They had activity directors that exercise them on whatever level they were at. It had an exercise room, beautician's room and art room. It had a pub, a deli and a little country store. It was proximate to a golf course and other stores nearby. It was like a little village and my mother-in-law was happy there. The view was beautiful for them. They had a garden where they could work on. They had physical therapy on sight. It had independent living, assisted living, higher level assisted living and dementia care. They did a really nice job. "

"Mountainside Senior Living is TRULY a hidden gem. The facility, staff, assistance and dining are second to none!! My mom absolutely loves it here!! If I could give this place 10 stars I would, but 5 is the highest!! I surely hope that when I am of age to enter an assisted living facility, Mountainside is still available!!!"

"My husband was at Waynesboro Manor for awhile. Their environment was very good, and his room was very nice. I was very pleased with all of their staff. My experience there was very good until the last day. I found him sitting in a room by himself very soiled and dehydrated. I think they need to check on their patients more often. "

"Summit Square is a lovely place. We have several friends that live there so we know quite a bit about it. We went and got some more information and we looked at the variety of accommodations that they have there. The staff was very knowledgeable and very warm. As I said, we have friends that live there and they're very satisfied with this place. I have eaten there many times and it's good. They also do some catering of lunches for civic groups. We had them catered for our group and their food is always good and their menu is always varied. With regards to activities, they did have a bus that takes people to concerts, etc. They just had a Christmas dinner where they could invite a few friends to join in for the meals. They have ongoing card games and I know that people would come in and do performances there. In general, they did have a fairly good variety of activities for their residents. What I like best about this place is its location. It's one of the two closest ones in the area where we live, so it wouldn't be moving at greater distance as some of the other places. Regarding recommendations, I would recommend that they at least consider this place. "

"This is a very nice place. The building is kept odor free and very clean; unlike other homes that reek of urine this one doesnt have a smell. The staff their are very nice not only to visitors but to residents also. My friend referred to some of the staff memebers as her special friends. Its good to know that your family and friends are in good hands while living here. "

"Oak Grove Manor was very good. It was set back from the road, so my mom wouldn't be able to run to it, but they wouldn't take her. The people were very kind. Even though they wouldn't take her, it was an excellent facility, and I would have loved to have my mom there."

"We liked The Blake at Charlottesville for my mother. It was open. I like the openness, high ceilings, and things like that, which gave a bigger feel to things that my mom, I think, would have liked. I like the people, they were nice and helpful, but just in general the appearance of the facility itself gave -- and almost felt resort-like. The staff was very accommodating, he made you feel very comfortable, his knowledge seemed to be good, and he pretty much answered all of our questions. He's very helpful and knowledgeable and just an easy person to talk to, so it was a very comfortable visit. The room we looked at if she was moving there tomorrow, it was more than one room, which I like. It gave us a situation where you could have a bedroom and a kitchenette area, and then a separate sitting area. It was not huge, obviously, but it was adequate and gave more of a home feel because you had a separation of your bed space and your living space."

"My mother resided in one part of Linden House Assisted Living and Memory Care at Branchlands before. We thought her care would be incredible there, which it was. She stayed there for about a month. It is excellent. It is terrific. It is very nice, so are the people that are there .The staff is outstanding. They deliver everything they promised, and we think the world of them for taking care of my mother. We like the newness, for one thing. Also the staff is always accessible and available whenever you needed help. They get things to you right away. The facility itself has a wonderful restaurant or dining room in it, and the food is very good. We could not find any faults with it at all. It is a complete restaurant. They serve three meals a day, seven days a week. My mother had a specialized menu because of her condition. They have different levels of dining depending on your condition. They got plenty of activities. They have a calendar, and there's something going on every day like music and games. They have all kinds of things. The price is more than it ought to be, but it may be the best deal in town. It is between $5,000-7,000 a month, compared to her previous facility which was $9,000. It is probably the best choice to put a person in assisted living in this city."

"Though our visits usually last only for a couple hours, we enjoy the treatment that the staff shows our grammy. They respect her and are always very patient, which are qualities that are very hard to come by in an industry such as this. In our home town there are many of other assisted living facilities, but due to their lack of ability to perform the standard tasks demanded of their job, and show the required amount of respect we were forced to look for a place out of the city limits. The distance is not so bad when you think of the peace of mind you get knowing she's somewhere that she'll be taken care of. There as a sense of love and compassion at Commonwealth Assisted Living that you won't find anywhere near the area we live in which is why we truly appreciate what we have found. "

"My parents moved into a 2 bedroom independent apartment at Our Lady of Peace in 2018, Mom transferring to a 1 bedroom following Dad’s passing. The lovely facility, grounds and apartments are home-like, efficiently designed and well-maintained. Importantly for us, residents starting in independent living can transition in place to 4 levels of assisted care until full nursing or memory care is needed. We have the highest regard for both management and the exceptionally caring staff at all levels of service. They consistently go above and beyond in safety protocols, in resident engagement, and with family communication. Mom tells me every day how blessed she feels to have landed there. Her children agree!"

"I chose Riverdale Assisted Living for my parents. I like that they have their own room, and that was very nice. They have nurses and doctors. It's also the cheapest place that I can find for them. The facility is very clean, and the staff are all nice. "

"Heritage Inn Charlottesville has been great. My parents got a very nice room. It is spacious, clean, very well-kept, and accessible. I saw the meals mom was served, and it looked really good. They play bingo. They take them out every now and then to a certain place or shopping mall. They have physical therapy and occupational therapy. They also have a few other things. Everything is well maintained. They do upgrades to the building all the time, and it's a very nice, very nice place."
