Independent Living Communities in Culpeper, VA

"I went to Harmony at Falls Run yesterday, and it was great. I would have taken it right on the spot from what she told me. Now today when I went over there, she asked me to come over at 10:00 in the morning, so I did. Everything changed. She even promised to submit anything needed for VA assistance. Well, that changed, I had to do it. And the cost was nothing I could afford, not even close. She was very nice. A completely different attitude today. Because I didn't realize it was going to cost so much, now I'm looking for an apartment. The rooms were nice. I was ready to sign up right then and there. They were nice, well-kept, clean, good-sized rooms. Everything I needed, until today. It was very nice, clean, and had a luxury theme to it. It was a big lobby. They had two dining areas, and they were very nice. They had a movie theater, and bingo, they made trips to town, and they had a little pub. I liked it."

"I toured Paramount Senior Living at Fredericksburg. The restaurant part was very nice. They have a nice little snack bar where you could get things during the day like coffee or tea or something like that as well as food to eat. The rooms were big. They had a little kitchenette, which I liked. Everything was very clean. They have nurses on duty for each floor. It's a high rise, 3 or 4 stories tall. The staff who gave the tour was very good. And they gave me lots of advice, and they were very friendly."

"We chose Spring Oak at Culpeper for my friend because of the location. It was in the town that she lived in. I did a cold call there first just to sort of check them out and I instantly fell in love with the place. She loved it too. I love their willingness to show me around during my visit and answer my questions. I have been just overwhelmingly pleased with everything they've done for her. She is in their assisted living and her apartment is quite nice. The building itself has been remodeled and is spacious. It works perfectly and is an ideal space for her. They have activities that go on every single day. Usually, there are at least 3 or 4 things going on every day and she participates in a lot of them. They've been very engaging with her, so she is thriving there. I'm extremely pleased."

"Culpeper Baptist Retirement seems to be very good. It's in the middle of a farming community and they source local farmers for organic produce whenever possible. Plus, they grow some of their own in a garden. They have excellent kitchen and the food is excellent. There's lots of friendly staff, dedicated, and interact a lot with the residents. The rooms for independent and assisted living are very nice. They're in the process of renovating the rooms for their skilled nursing facility. "

"The oaks is a great place for your loved ones. They take elderly residents of 55 years or older. You have the option of going to parties, on day trips, going to exercise classes and playing bingo. If you are not completely independent you may have a nurse with you. It's a great location, right next to Giant and in a lovely neighborhood. The oaks also has a library, a beauty salon and a big community room. They also have bible study every thursday at 5:30. The management is very nice and personable. They have a woman who can fix just about anything. The people who live there are nice as well. I would definitely recommend this place. "

"Alexander Heights was the only place that had a handicapped apartment available. The people there are nice enough. But the price is so high, and my mother is on social security. She'll have to use the money from selling her house to live there because it's so high. It's $1,400 for a 2-bedroom. The place is nice and beautiful. They have a pool and exercise room, which wouldn't do her any good because she's in a wheelchair. But it's the only place that has a handicapped accessible bathroom. It's a beautiful place. It's just so expensive. They have washers and dryers in the apartment. As far as what they offer, the handicapped apartment is wonderful. They just don't have enough. They only have 4, and they have 146 units. So there's a waiting list for people who want a wheelchair accessible. "
