This is how dementia/elder care should be. My dad, who has dementia of the Alzheimer's type, has been living with me and my wife the past 2 years. He had a very bad experience at a traditional memory care facility prior to living with us, but after 2 years of care my wife and I were in dire need of a vacation and respite care for my dad. We found Tilden House which is much smaller and offers much more personalized care and way better staff/resident ratios than your traditional memory care facility. It feels so much more like being at home because it is an actual home. The staff were also amazing (thank you Wade and Eva!) and took such great care of my dad. After our 2 week vacation, we went to pick up my dad and he had clearly been well taken care of and most importantly, was happy as a clam. When asked if he'd be willing to stay at Tilden House again if we were to take another trip, he said "Sure, I had a good time here. The staff were very nice and make you feel comfortable." but when asked about traditional memory care he says "It was like being in prison." If you have a loved one struggling in a traditional facility, do yourself a favor and check out Tilden. It's the next best thing to home care for your loved ones.

been at Tilden almost a year now, and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. My private room is spacious and pleasant, and I have my own shower. The food is good. The staff does a good job of keeping track of and dispensing medications. The staff is exceptional—kind, patient, compassionate, and willing to accommodate patients’ needs. Although the facility specializes in memory care, it’s not a requirement: several of us are here strictly for assisted living care. I highly recommend.
