"Brookdale Lewisville seemed very clean. The staff seemed very friendly. The rooms that they showed us seemed to be very nice. I could picture my parents there. There wasn't anything about the place we didn't like. The only thing is the price. My parents just can't afford it. The residents that we saw seemed happy. They had activities for them. They have an outdoor space and transportation for them."

"Briarview Memory Care is wonderful!! My mother lives here and is very content. The Memory Care Director, the Activity Director, the Medical Technicians, the Certified Nurse Assistants, and the housekeeping staff are like family to us. They not only provide excellent care to the residents but they provide a loving, personal environment for the residents and their families. The facility is very secure to provide a safe environment but it also has a beautiful courtyard and screened in sun room which allows the residents to take walks on the paved walkway, plant flowers, fly kites, and enjoy the sunshine. The staff also encourages residents to participate in games, exercises, and simple tasks to stimulate their minds and to be successful at familiar tasks. There is a kitchen for the residents to help make cookies, brownies, and other treats. There are evening activities such as Family Night so that residents can enjoy a special evening with their family members. This facility is about 1 year old and is beautiful. The rooms are comfortable and feel like home. There is a beauty shop for hair care, manicures, and pedicures. I am so thankful that we selected Briarview for my mother and am so grateful for the entire Briarview staff! "

"My father-in-law is at The Retreat at Carrollton. It's very good. He's doing well. He is well cared for. The place is very nice and very clean. Everybody is very friendly and helpful. We are happy with it. He has a studio apartment, which is a small one, but it's the perfect size. It has a very large bathroom and has more storage than I realized at first. He's got a little patio, and he's overlooking the swimming pool. It's a really gorgeous location, very bright and cheerful. There are several different floor plans. There are a couple of different studios, and then there are one-bedrooms. They have a lot of activities. He doesn't really participate in them, but they have ice cream socials, take people out on trips, and provide transportation to doctors' appointments. They had a nice New Year's Eve party with live music, and they're always busy. They have a little flyer that they hand out every day of all the different activities for the day. Everybody seems really happy with the food. He's not eating very much there, but everybody seems quite content. The kitchen staff is very helpful."

"I visited The Forum at Park Lane while in Dallas checking out facilities for my aunt. I immediately liked the Bostonian style of the buildings. My aunt would really like this, too - since her family is from there. But she prefers the mild climate of Texas and has lived in the Dallas region for a number of years and would like to stay there. The staff was cordial and very kind. I could see how well they treated and interacted with the residents, which was comforting. The entire facility is built around an elegant decor - and a very thoughtful design process. The gorgeous landscape is dotted with many accessible and pleasant seating areas for the residents to enjoy. I particularly enjoyed the quiet street lined beautiful and ample oak trees. The building's interior corridors resemble nicely appointed neighborhoods which makes a nice community feel for the residents. There are lots of places for everyone to enjoy a quiet book or socializing with other seniors. The facility's close proximity to North Park Mall gives the seniors the ability to regularly visit there to shop, enjoy casual and fine dining - as well as many cultural events that are staged there. The living spaces were all beautifully designed and decorated to the taste of the residents. The food in the dining areas was exceptional -- much like you would find in a five star restaurant. They can make special requests or choose from a variety of healthy and delicious options off the menu that changes frequently. Residents are also encouraged to enjoy regular and healthy snacks throughout the day. There are nearby advanced medical facilities, as well as a great variety of recreational and social venues that the seniors regularly have access to. This assisted living retirement community provides the best of both worlds -- independent, yet assisted living, with access to skilled nursing, and rehab as needed. We like the flexibility in all of the options and believe that this kind of facility is a very sensible environment to entrust someone as beloved as our aunt. We really liked the look of the entire facility, and could see how the residents really enjoy living there. It features everything that seniors need - in a variety of living situations, designed to suit all of their individual needs. "

"My mother did live in an assisted living, which was excellent. It was lovely! It was wonderful! My mom would still be living there; however, her long-term care insurance that covered assisted living ran out. My mom is living with me now, but it was lovely. It was absolutely a beautiful place! The staff was wonderful, everything from the activities director and all the things that they planned for them socially were great, and the apartments were beautiful. The food was delicious, and the care was wonderful."

"Sunrise of Hillcrest was very nice with excellent facilities, but they had very limited parking. The staff was very courteous. They had two dogs that residents could pet, and they love having that dog right next to them. I liked the apartments and there was a little window that looked out into the hallway. There were also windows looking out to the street and trees and they had a little brook that ran behind the place. The window gave me the impression like you're at the front of your house and you could look out and see who's coming up to your door. Their chef explained that if somebody wanted something that's not on the menu for that day, they have stuff they can make for them. They had three meals a day. If you wanted bacon and eggs, they could make it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They had an excellent layout."

"My boyfriend stayed at HarborChase of Southlake. They didn't take very good care of him and he ended up in the hospital. They let him get mouth sores all over his mouth and back in his throat and didn't do anything about it. Finally, we got the doctor to prescribe some lidocaine rinse and they didn't give it to him. Then he got a massive urinary tract infection and had to go to the hospital. I don't like anything about it. It's extremely expensive. They charged him a fee to transfer him to the hospital. The aides didn't notify the doctor that he was sick, and he couldn't eat because he had mouth sores for about a week. The food was horrible. We had a Christmas dinner there and it was supposed to be rib roast, and it was so overcooked. I don't think they take very good care of their residents. It's beautiful. He had a really nice apartment. He was only there a short time, and the bill was $20,000, and they charged him extra for everything."
