My cousin is a resident at Washington Point Los Colinas. She is in what they call the Lilac Trace Memory Care. She has been there about three years, but she's only been in the memory care area for about three months. She was in the independent living area before that. It is a very nice, clean facility with very friendly staff. They have been doing a lot of renovations since she's been there, so they do keep it redecorated, repainted, and put new carpeting. Everything smells clean and looks clean. She does at least three or four activities per day, like bingo. They have music entertainment that comes in and plays for them. They have sing-alongs over the television set with videotapes. Generally, about one day a month, they will have an activity outside the building. They'll bus them to a museum or an outside restaurant or something, even the folks in the memory care who are in wheelchairs. They have exercises. They have a fitness center director, and she comes up and puts them through calisthenics and stuff. Everybody watches a movie together, and then they will talk about the movie and talk about the stars in the movie, and do trivia. You get what you pay for. It is a little bit more expensive than several other places in the area, but it's not outrageous. They will do a price hike, maybe once every two years or something like that. The care and services are good, but it's probably better in memory care than it was in independent living. Not as many staff were available to help her at the level she needed in the independent care area, so I had to hire some outside caregivers or a third-party service to come in. Since she's moved to memory care, I no longer need to do that. The care she's getting is quite good right now.

We toured Washington Point Las Colinas. They had the villas, which had a garage and a little backyard if you have a dog. You can do some of your own cooking. You have to walk across the way to get food, but it's not very far. The staff during the tour was great.

It has a variety of what they offer the residents. It was very clean and there was a lot of attention given to the residents. The rooms were spacious, you can do a private room or a shared room, they're very clean, and you bring your own furniture. It's very home-like. They do puzzles, they do cornhole, they build things, do cooking, planting, painting, and a wide variety of things.

It was my second choice. It has the best facilities that I had seen ever. There was everything, including a pool; it has everything that someone would need. They offered meals, but they also show what people are going to have. They put it out for everybody to see, and it looked gorgeous. They have a salon, pool, exercise room, and outdoor courtyards. It was gorgeous and clean all the way through. It's about 600 yards from a few restaurants and a shopping center.

My father was here for respite while I was on an extended vacation. They treated him very well. He enjoyed all the activities and the social aspects of talking with people. In fact, he enjoyed it so much that he has requested to move there permanently.

My mother in law passed away in June, but we put her here. She was only there five days, but it was actually a nice place; we would highly recommend it. The staff was all wonderful -- even the administrator was always there checking on us and on her. Everyone who was involved with was very caring. The place was really nice, pretty, and clean.

My mother has been here for almost a month now. I was very impressed with it. It's a fairly new complex, a little over a year old. Everyone is so friendly, so helpful, and they made my mom feel very welcome. She is enjoying the food which is good, and she's making new friends. It's really a great place. Everything is very nice. It's like a restaurant type dining facility with waitresses that come and take your order. They have a specific thing they make for breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day; but you can also order off of their all-day dining menu, i.e., cheeseburgers, BLT, salad. The complex is not full; so it makes it nice for our mom to go in, and just sit wherever she wants to eat. Her room is very nice. It's a studio; but we arranged the furniture, and it's wonderful. It has the kitchenette with a full-sized refrigerator, she has her microwave, and her coffee pot; which are about all she needs. They have a movie theater. They play movies in there with a popcorn machine. They have a library with lots of books, and a pool table. They have places where they have speakers, people that come in, and play music for them. They have bingo, outings, and transportation to places within ten miles of the facility, indoor heated swimming pool, a weight room, and aerobics classes. She has a lot to keep her busy. We're very happy there. They also have a Jacuzzi tub; which is in their spa area, and she is welcome to go down there to use it.

The sales coordinator was very impressive. He gave me a complete tour. What I love best about it is it was divided where your dementia people were a the floor by themselves. It was separate, and I think that is a lot healthier.

My friend is now here, and what they've settled in was a duplex, two-bedroom, two-bath. It has a lovely kitchen, and they have a one-car garage. They have one meal provided a day.
